After I went through their tape a second time I actually swapped Hurts and Eason so I have Hurts ahead. First round does seem too early for him.

But I’m not sure Eason has the mental makeup plus escapability to ever be above average in today’s NFL. Hurts has kind of won me over so to speak. He won’t be confused with Mike Vick exactly, but has plenty of athleticism to buy extra time escaping the pocket while continuing to look for options downfield. I also found a little extra credit for him on the second go round with ball placement on some fade and seam routes. He’s got an outside chance I think to become a Russell Wilson-lite.
By no means saying he is the same player, but has that mental makeup to exceed expectations and silence some doubters.

I like your team thoughts for Tate. Probably an ideal situation for many “non-traditional” QB prospects.

I’m in the “lower on Gordon than most” camp. I feel like he’s a classic example of benefiting from recent success of a comparable player (Minshew). And by comparable I mean because of the school. I don’t think the players are that comparable at all.

I feel like Hurts is closer to McSorley than he is to Aaron Brooks. His athleticism to me is at an above average level overall, but not in that upper tier of players that made a career in the NFL at quarterback based on those traits. Good enough to talk about but never good enough to make a big difference at the highest level.

He's a wildcard, IMO. A Rich Gannon ceiling with a Pat White floor.

The comp I come back to the most is Seneca Wallace.

A lot of Steelers fans want to waste a pick on him. I say why?

And for the record - I really liked Seneca Wallace and hoped he could find a way to make it in the league.

I feel the same way about Jalen. I'd like to see him become a success story in the NFL.

But what I'm putting together on him, from a scouting point of view, reads that he doesn't possess enough high level transitional traits to become anything more than a very good back-up, spot starter or bridge quarterback.

The Steelers are in a win now mode, not looking for that confounded bridge.

I'm one of the few that think PIT already has their next passer on the roster.

The hiring of Matt Canada seems to lend to the idea that they may have realized they are mishandling an opportunity to prepare for life after Ben.

He's not there to teach the old dog new tricks.

People think Rudolph is a bum now after last season. But I think he was handcuffed by Ben's offense.

Well for the record K-State was their worst game last season. I was much more encouraged by the Texas and Baylor games. His mobility did a lot for them vs Baylor in the Big12 Championship game.

It just happened to be the first full game that popped up in the YouTube search.

I just wanted to show a glimpse of similarities. Nothing more.

I still really like this comp, and still view Wallace as a better prospect coming out.

Would have really enjoyed him getting an opportunity to play in this era.
