Needed a backup QB as Matt Schaub is almost as old as Lyman. Have two other prospects in the organization, but neither is the caliber of Fromm.

 

I’d say that Benkert’s natural arm talent is greater than Fromm’s.

Cardinals would like to trade 6:23 and Kenya Drake for a early fifth rd pick

Yes. I'm still pretty big on Benkert, but he lost almost all of preseason and the entire season last year with injury. He REALLY needed those reps as he was easily rattled and made bad decisions in his rookie preseason. By the time we hit training camp (assuming we actually do have training camps), it will have been a full year since his last full contact reps. I'm not so confident that this will be the year he steps up.

Fromm will never have a true cannon of an arm, but he's still filling out his frame. He already has the poise, the ability to read a defense, and good skills in working through a progression.

Benkert was interesting to study up on.

He has some really impressive video mixed in with some stuff that raises one eyebrow with a head shake.

When Benkert is on, I’d take him over Fromm without any hesitation. When he’s off, he still has the arm.

When Fromm is off there is nothing physically that can bail him out. I expect a Matt Barkley type of career out of him, based on similar mental intangibles.

Spot starter that could end up a fan hopeful where he lands, but always the guy that some want starting until he actually does.
