Yeah, I couldn't pass that up, especially after getting sniped myself on Javon Kinlaw in the first round. I'm a bit stunned that I was able to get him after trading so far down. I'll probably miss out on both of the other names I had in mind, but that's fine - I got three players who can contribute immediately on defense, and by trading down I now have three more picks in this round to get some good developmental pieces (or to trade down again...).
Been waiting all morning to make this one... My list was getting pretty short for this pick. Troy Dye, LB, Oregon
Another great value pic. It’s just not a huge need for one of the two teams I’m repping or I might have grabbed him already. I personally think I’m a little higher on him than most. I thought he showed an ability to tackle. But more importantly the awareness to understand the play developing and keep his eyes on the quarterback, which in today’s NFL so important for any linebacker who’s gonna stay on the field.
I'll just have to suffer through those snaps with K'Lavon Chaisson, Dante Fowler and Grady Jarrett. How tragic.
By the way I use a lot of voice to text when doing these now, simply as a timesaver because I’m out on the road so much and can’t be at my computer. So for those of you who aren’t used to seeing a whole lot of grammatical and spelling errors from me, I apologize. It eats me up too. Maybe the most glaring one, because it comes up a lot when discussing prospects and drafting is voice to texts preferred version of the word “pic”
I actually think in the Giants defense he will basically be asked to just do what he is good at as well. He will be protected by the big bodies up front and Martinez is going be the guy getting the play calls in and lining the defense up. Dye adds speed at the second level which is something they desperately need. After passing on Simmons and missing out on the overhang safeties, Dye I think adds an element that the Giants are just missing. Plus at pick 110 he is a guy I think contribute this season which isn't something I would normally count on.
Nice pick. And that was the last of guys I've seen mocked in round 1....I believe it is Charley Casserley's mock at NFL.com
Those NFL.com guys are getting so bored by this point. There’s like three or four of them, they’ve had to write like four or five of these each. By now they’ve got half the draft class in the first round in one or another. I do appreciate that they put the time in though, whether it’s their job or not. Makes for a time killing read if you’re bored
That pretty much defines mock drafts...It is what it is. When you win Super Bowls as an actual NFL GM, people take note of your mock drafts.
