Alrighty. Well Washington will get their pick in either late tonight or first thing in the morning. The pick behind them will be very quick, although I have a sneaking suspicion made by a team not named the Lions. Then the New York Football Giants will be next up. @xinik You still with us??
Trade Announcement The Detroit Lions Trade 1(3) The Miami Dolphins Trade 1(5) + 2(24) Via PM the Miami Dolphins Select Tua Tagovailoa, QB - Alabama
Not really, using the Jimmy Johnson value chart it seems like the early 2nd would be equal instead of the late 2nd but you gotta consider players available and that with them obviously going QB it's really only 1 guy on your list potentially being taken. If that's the best offer it's great for Detroit. Also, if you follow the other trade value chart that is considered more realistic to modern charts then Miami actually overpaid. A 3rd would have been more than enough there and maybe Detroit would take that anyways considering the situation.
Personally I was comfortable with anything in the second round. And like Joe said, I knew it was a QB going there so didn't feel like I was moving back more than 1 spot
Trade value charts are a joke. It doesnt take into effect players on the board and desire for a team to gain more picks for something they view may not be there currently value wise within the organization. So over paying and underpaying are all in the eye of the person evaluating the trade or even making it. Not some value chart.
Yep, it's all in the circumstances. The team trading up does it to get a specific player, not just a specific pick. Value charts really don't make any difference. If the player has more value than what you give up, it's still a good move, and passing up the opportunity just because a chart says the price is too high is leaving value on the table. And for the team trading down, if you can get your target player or the equivalent after moving down, then whatever you gain from the trade is a bonus. Passing up that bonus just because some chart says you didn't get enough would be hurting your team out of sheer spite.
Giants checking in... also open to a trade back so if anyone wants to come up and get a guy let me know.
