That was definitely the best route to get GMs to take notice and get him drafted.

That, and he likely doesn’t beat out either Barrett or Jones to be the starter his final season in Ohio.

He wasn't an NFL QB prospect, so he did what he had to do...

If I remember correctly, you were pretty high on him predraft.

Top 5 or 3 in your WR rankings?

Yeah, he was so good at creating space. I really thought he was going to develop into a "Percy Harvin" type NFL weapon. Braxton has moves that can shake people out of their shoes.

He struggled to see receptions all the way through.

Outstanding all-around athlete but no exacting traits to give him position definition.

I think maybe he had his last shot in this league with Cleveland. We signed Miller for just a very short time last year and then let him go when we signed Taywan Taylor. I'm not sure if Braxton is with another team now or not.

Yeah, I'll never live down my WR ratings from that year. I had Braxton rated slightly higher than his teammate, Michael Thomas. lol!

Former Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas is one of the 58 prospects expected to take part in this month’s draft broadcast via cameras installed in their home and many expect his turn in the spotlight to come during the first round.

Thomas joins Mekhi Becton, Jedrick Willis and Tristan Wirfs as the top tackle prospects in this year’s class and all of them are projected to be early picks when things get rolling on April 23. There’s less consensus when it comes to what order they will come off the board, but Thomas believes he should be the first to hear his name called by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

“I played three years in the SEC at both right tackle and left tackle,” Thomas said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I dominated every year and I feel like I’m the best tackle in this class.”

Thomas recently met with the Browns via a video call and said he’s had others with teams at the top of the first round like the Dolphins, Jets and Giants.

We all get biased on occasion and see things with an undeserved slant. I’ve got my misses enshrined for all-time all over this site.

Thomas might be the one Ohio State player that I had rated higher than you, lol.

I remember having Cody Latimer pretty high in my rankings. Still not sure why he hasn’t developed into more. Kinda hanging around though as more of a special teams contributor.
I thought he had, at worst, more red zone potential.

This issue with Latimer is that he had size and athleticism but was still relatively raw

lol! Not that you need my approval, but seriously? Did you pull that out of a hat? I barely remember him. Good ol' Alvin. (I'm going to use a word my kids use) That's so random Tim.

You're taking a 3 down, do it all, stud RB. One of the premiere RB's in this draft class (if not THE best). A dependable, durable workhorse guy that rushed for over 2000 yards and 21 TD's last season (Heisman worthy), and you are comparing him to a complete nobody. An afterthought, 4th rd pick, never was, from the 2004 draft??? C'mon? If that isn't selling him short, what is? Of course J.K. has a "higher ceiling". Did Pearman even have a ceiling?

We could make odd comparisons all day long. Somebody told me last year that D.K. Metcalf was just another Lawyer Tillman, so I'm amused by some of them.

Which ever team winds up with J.K. Dobbins is going to be very happy, that's all I know.. They will get a complete RB.

If nothing else, be sure you take note of him for fantasy football drafts...

    LOL

It’s a comp for style, TD. Not a comparison of what they have done or will do as professionals.

Did you even look at the video?

I threw in the part about obvious ceiling differences because it should be a given that I’m not suggesting they are the same player, will have similar careers or that Dobbins draft value should be the same.

@RTTRUTH and I were discussing comps in another thread.

Basically, what I’m looking to do is pair a player with someone of the same height, weight, athletic ability and playing style. It needs to match all of the above within a certain margin of difference.

I can’t stand it when guys comp a player to someone that’s 4 inches taller or 20 pounds heavier, lol.

Let me ask you this - Do you see Dobbins as a sub 4.45 40 player?

I know he ran a 4.44 before getting to OSU and he had a 43 inch vert.

My only questions with that would be -
    • What was his true weight at the time?
    • What was his injury history at that time?
    • What was the environment for those numbers and how accurate are they?

I do find the accuracy of those reported college athletic testing numbers to be a question mark.
I can remember a few instances where Mayock would say something like “this guy ran a 4.35 at Clemson”, but then when he runs is 40 at the combine it’s 4.52 and 4.55

So that forces you to start asking yourself questions about who it was that time them or measured them. Was it his agent reporting these things? Was it a position coach that happens to like them a lot. Even Daniel Jeremiah made the joke during the combine this year that “you’d be surprised how quick your finger is on the timer if you have a high grade on a guy.”

He can run. I don't see foot speed as an issue with him.... Hadn't really thought about it, but I suppose 4.45 is probably about what I'd expect.
