Taking a bit of a reach here for some flexibility in the defensive backfield -

The Seattle Seahawks select: Ashtyn Davis, S/CB - California

I don’t think that’s a reach at all. He’s a really good player just has some injury concerns

He’s one guy I just had a bit of a tough time scouting, because they played them so deep a lot that I had a hard time figuring out what he was or wasn’t reading, was or wasn’t doing. Kinda had to watch three games to get one game worth of reads on him

I'm probably going to end up having him ranked higher than most when it's all said and done, but in the real thing I could see him sliding to the bottom or all the way out of the third because of worry over injury and questions about where to line him up in the backfield.

Some teams may be put off by not seeing him as a fit for a need at either safety or corner.

I definitely don't think this is a reach. I almost took him myself at 46. But then I remembered I signed Anthony Harris so I had the position covered for now... There are not many players in this class that can play single high. He is one of them and the other has even bigger injury concerns.

I think you play him at FS that way he can roam around and show off his range. He’s got a track background so he could be perfect in a zone based scheme where he can rely on his speed. I hope Miami considers him with their 2nd/3rd round. I would say earlier but the injury concerns are real.

DB is for me the hardest position to scout -- for just this reason. Without all 22 it's so hard to get plays where you actually can see what they are doing...

Which is probably one of the reasons why press players end up with higher scores in my system (other than the fact it's weighted in that direction).

It's a lot easier to view a true single cover guy mirroring off of the press than trying to read a player's point of view in the zone. There's so much happens in front of them that we are seeing from a different angle, and that means the guys in front of the player are influencing how we are scoring them.

And that's one of the reasons why it's easy to really like a corner that plays a lot of zone when you see him flying into tackles, hitting/wrapping with force.

    We have two trades . . .

    Denver gets: pick 3-1

Cincinnati gets: picks 3-13 and 4-31

    Packers get: Andy Dalton, QB

Bengals get: picks 6-29 and 6-30

LOL this comment made me go back and check your CB rankings from last year. Deandre Baker was a guy I didn't pay attention to because I didn't like his athletic profile. And there he is sitting as number 2 on your board. Which makes sense since he was a press man guy at UGA -- the Giants just refused to play him that way for some reason... that looks like it will change next season though.

Yeah, I had Artie Burns at #2 in his draft class and it was a similar situation. Burns needed to be brought into a press coverage scheme and worked into the role. He had a lot of work to do to become a professional but the tools were/are there.
