  1. xinik Franchise Player Manager Giants

I don't think I have ever felt worse making a pick than this one. The best talents in this class don't line up with my needs and the value on guys that I like is completely off. I wanted to trade back to justify taking guys I liked better than the guys at the top of this class. I keep trying to justify taking a player that I don't really like because everyone else seems to love him - but I can't do it here. Regardless of what my team needs are I see two guys in this class that are the top and everyone else is a step down. One of those two guys is available so despite my reservations:

    The New York Giants select:

    Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State

Welcome back to Jersey Jeff. (He was born abut 30 minutes from Giants stadium)

If there’s one real life GM counterpart for you to minic with the premise of eschewing convention to take the guy you feel confident is the clear best player available, Gettleman would be it.

You can never have too many guys that can cover, and you could always move Bradberry to safety if Okudah and Baker both prove out as stud corners.

Thanks for your emotion support. In this simulation I signed Prince Amukamura instead of Bradberry so my investment is a little lighter. It's just hard to spend anymore draft resources on the position. 6 picks were spent to "fix" the DB position for the Giants between 2018 and 2019. So dropping #4 overall on the position hurts, but Okudah is my BPA and it's hard to take guys that I don't like as much. I really thought about over drafting one of the guys I like that should go in the middle of the round. When I started thinking that way I knew I had to stick with Okudah.

It's really no big deal. The feathers will stick to the tar either way.

These are also not ideal circumstances for trading back as you tried to do. I'm guessing we'll see fewer trades than we usually have in mocks.

Honestly Giants fans are all screaming "This is the year Gettleman will trade back" But looking at everything that happened in free agency I am staring at the board and thinking this is pretty much what is going to happen. Giants are going to be picking at 4 because no one is going to want that spot. The Lions are the logical trade up target. The Skins would be strait up stupid not the take Chase Young. I think the real life Giants take the player I was struggling to make myself like. Everyone else seems to think they will take a tackle. (But I signed Reiff and Conklin here...)

Joe messaged me at like 3 AM my time. I hope I made sense of his text properly. He said his brother was half asleep and forgot to send a PM. Judging by the spelling errors I’m guessing Joe was tired as well

I really thought and banked on the Giants addressing the o-line, hence I thought Jeff Okudah would have landed with the Lions. Would have been a slick get for the replacement of the Slay trade.

Anyway, Detroit needs help defensively so I did the best I could with plan B, because Okudah was to be plan A...

Reminds me that I need to be more vocal and out-going with other GM's, especially those picking in front of me.

It's a good year to need O-line and a bad year to need impact defensive play makers...

Six picks plus the #4 isn't a catastrophe, especially considering that it should be a nine or ten man unit with at least seven active players and as many as six of them on the field at once.

I'm also a firm believer in BPA, as you apparently are. My own methodology would be first to trade the pick if a suitable deal can be made, and second to take the top player on your board if the trade isn't there. Looks to me like you played it the way I would have. The trade wasn't there so you made the best pick you could.

I just don't see it. Protecting the young QB should be top priority. I'll be surprised if he doesn't stay put and take his favorite "hog mollie"....
