Nick Foles. See yas after Pace is fired.

And Brian Griese would’ve been a welcome sight at times last season.

    I like the deal.

Guys it could have been a lot worse. We could have overpaid for Bridgewater or traded higher draft picks for Cam or Dalton, both of whom would have required more guaranteed money.

Low risk, high reward potential if he's healthy and everything clicks (please note: actual odds of this occurring are less than 1%).

    I'm fine with the trade.

    Thanks for the info Pat.

I don't like the move personally. Hope he proves me wrong but im just not a believer in Foles. I hear Foles made sense cos he knows how to run a Nagy style Offense. Can you tell us what that is Nick? Cos I've been watching it for two years and I don't know what it is.

    Fair point.

It’s when you send 9 guys in motion, then throw the ball 48 yards laterally to gain 2.

Nick Foles is not a good QB. Doesn’t matter that the Bears didn’t give up much because they didn’t get much.

After Teddy B opting for the rebuilding Panthers obvious that Pace made competition with Mitch part of the deal. I get that any QB should welcome a competition but when your up against the GM’s teachers pet. A nice guy who already has the locker room I am sorry that’s an uncomfortable position to be put in.

Foles is as emotional as they come. A real fragile Freddy both physically and mentally. Perfect boob to be brought in for competition. A real “I am here to help the team any way I can. Even if that means supporting Mitch as the starter.”

Now if they trade/release Mitch I will at least give Pace credit for trying to move on from his mistake even if it’s with a shit QB.

Not sure why you think he's "mentally" fragile. Outplayed Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. Has big road playoff wins on his resume.

He seems like a Josh McCown type as far as his attitude. The consummate professional. If he loses the starting job to Mitch he'll take it in stride and maybe actually be of some service to Mitch as a mentor on the bench.

I see little downside with this trade. It doesn't make us worse with a slight chance of actually making us better.

Everyone knows about your man crush on Teddy (that began last year).

But at least keep your arguments fact-based. Mentally fragile? Foles? Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is mentally fragile... The guy who’s built a reputation on playing well in clutch situations- mentally fragile.. uhhh OK guy.

And do you realllly think a Teddy booster should be throwing stones about physical fragility?

    Also... Foles in 58 games has 11,900 yards passing with 71 TD’s to 35 INT’s - a 2:1 ratio.

    Teddy B in 44 games has 7,600 yards with 38 TD’s to 25 INT’s - a bad ratio.

They Both have been sacked 97 times.

Did I mention Foles is a former Super Bowl MVP?

Give it up Rob. Foles is the better QB and it isn’t even CLOSE.

Just so I have this correct...

You're saying the guy who won a Superbowl as the starter for an Andy Reid style offense isn't better than the guy who the Jets, Vikings, and now Saints have decided isn't worth keeping around--in playing for an Andy Reid style offense that Matt Nagy runs?

Because while I don't love/hate Nick Foles...he's a better fit for Matt Nagy than Teddy B is. And I think its an indictment of Teddy B and his psyche for him to run to the Panthers because he didn't believe bears would give him fair shot in competition against Mitch. Didn't want the heat so he ran and now his competition is Kyle Allen and a new head coach.

I'm not gonna question the mentality of a guy who was pure money during a playoff run which culminated in a SB MVP, but that's not to say there isn't plenty to question about Foles.

My big problem is his athleticism or lack of. Foles is a statue, how the hell is he gonna have success being a sitting duck behind one of the worst O-Lines in the league?? And how is he such a great fit for Nagy's system I just don't get that. No ones calling Foles' number on a keeper, surely the entire read option element of Nagy's playbook is now gone?

I'd love someone to explain to me who the perfect QB is for Nagy's offense cos its like the shifting sands. I mean other than a guy with Marino's arm, Vick's movement, Peyton's brain and Montana's clutch of course.

As for the 4th rounder, the more I think about it the less I like it. And not just cos we can't afford to lose the pick. With the money Jax was under for a guy who was no longer their starter/plan this should've cost peanuts. Im not saying put Jax in a full Brock Osweiler, Pace doesn't have anything like the negotiating game for that. But a 7th rounder. 6th MAX. Getting Pace to swallow a 4th rounder he should never have had to part with, its just straight out of the John Lynch playbook.

But NO ONE would expect that 9th motion. Its just so darn clever!

  14. bigrobo876 Franchise Player Bears

Obviously we will just have to let this play out. If Bridgewater turns out to be a bum. I will stand corrected. If not y’all including Pace look the fool.

At least I put out who I liked. Bear man thinks Mitch is still the one. Pat? I haven’t heard you chime in with any favorites.

As for Foles and his lack of mental fortitude. He demanded to be released after the Rams drafted Goff and then nearly retired. Yes he has proven to be clutch and his amazing run to Super Bowl MVP was great but he has yet to show any consistency. Reminds me of Sam Bradford. Hasn’t yet shit the bed enough to convince everyone he just isn’t that good.

If he was consistently great we wouldn’t be having this conversation. He’d be making $30M per year right now.

Point is, he’s shown he can be great. For a fourth - I’ll take our chances.

    No.

Actually I kind of think that it is. I lost count how many times last season they ran RO and Trubisky handed it off even tho the keep was wide open and would've netted big positive yards. So many times the edge would crash down on the run and Mitch would hand it off anyway. That's execution failing not scheme. There is absolutely a place for running RO in a modern Offense imo providing you have someone who can actually do it. Trubisky failed at it more than he got it right is all.

RO when done right really undermines a D and can even demoralise it. Considering Nagy's O is supposedly pretty TE dependent and he still doesn't have a TE worth spit, not sure i'd be removing another element that when executed properly has shown it can work.

Just read that his contract was restructured. He still gets $21 mill guaranteed from us but can void the deal in year 2 or 3. So if he does blow up he can void his deal and force us to pay him top dollar. Awesome!

  20. Bear-man 11 Franchise Player Bears

If he blows up, that means the Bears will have done very well, almost certainly make the playoffs, and finally have a quarterback.

    What’s the problem?
