Great job on Hooper. He and Keenum will make a nice QB / TE duo!

If Sashi Brown and John Dorsey had a love-child, it would be Andrew Berry. Only he would have learned how to be a decent GM from his godparents.

I wanted *no* part of Conklin at the rumored price tag ($18 - $20 million). Instead, they get the top RT on the market -- a young talent -- at $14 million a season and almost all of it front-loaded? HUGE win.

Gives them the green light to get Andrew Thomas to install at LT and with his projections all over the place, they can maneuver the board on Draft Day to get (A) the player they want and (B) some value for the pick.

Alternatively, you get a bridge left tackle (Jason Peters, PHI; Andrew Whitworth, LAR) who's got 1-2 seasons left and take a shot at Ezra Cleveland, whom the Browns have been rumored to be heavily interested in. Probably somewhere in the second round, although #41 overall seems high...

The two thirds (#74, #97) are enough to get you to #57 in the second (Houston's pick). After trading away Hopkins, they're likely to move around themselves and will have to try and fill that void. Minnesota, at #58?

Would leave #10 overall for one of two LSU players: Patrick Queen, LB or Grant Delpit, FS.

It also gives them the opportunity to move Hubbard one spot to his left and insert him as the RG (a position he probably should have been playing since Zeitler's departure).

    Also yes.

I do think Wyatt Teller would be okay there and would/will benefit from a qualified OL coach to get him where he needs to be. But welcome the competition between the two.

The Jaguars have agreed to sign linebacker Joe Schobert to a five-year, $53.75MM deal, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport (on Twitter). The pact will pay him an average of $10.75MM per season with $22.5MM guaranteed. [IMG]

Schobert moves from the Browns to the Jaguars, where he’ll try to help the front seven fill the gap left by the Calais Campbell trade. He won’t directly boost the edge rush in Campbell’s absence, but he’ll help to anchor the LB group and work against the run.

The two sides discussed an extension in November, but things cooled off as the season wore on. There was a bit of hope for a new deal when new GM Andrew Berry replaced John Dorsey, but they still weren’t able to bridge the gap. At the combine, the Browns informed Schobert’s rep that they would not offer the “double-digit millions” he was seeking in annual salary. Schobert, clearly, was able to get that money elsewhere.

The Wisconsin product has been a solid starter since entering the league as a fourth-round in 2016. Schobert made the Pro Bowl in 2017 and started all 16 games this past year, racking up 133 tackles, four interceptions, two sacks, and nine passes defended.

Also chasing hard after Joe Schobert was the Cincinnati Bengals.

I think Chaisson might be the LSU guy to go after...

the two moves today give me a better feeling that our new mgt is properly focused, in so far as they covered our #1 need and did it well.
that takes a lot of pressure off, and I can begin to see a team that is going to actually make use of their incredibly talented backfield, protect their QB and not go "home run" hunting. Now they have to get Mayfield on board. Teach him reads, and patience over schoolyard bombs and "sports center" highlight football.

I do not say this to question Mayfield as a QB, only question what last year's disasterous coaching actually asked / demanded of him.

With a GM and Coach who don't have their reputations wrapped up in our QB, they are in a stronger position to make demands of our young QB.

I believe it will serve Baker and the team well, for him to have to answer for his errors, and help him focus on actual growth this year. Having a good line in front of him will help, along with a running game that should be the foundation of the O.

Nice work Mr Berry. Keep it up

The Browns have traded for a Fullback . . .

The Browns get Andy Janovich, the Broncos get a 2021 late round pick.

Makes me wonder if we'll see a T formation with two tight ends and no wide receivers some time this year.

Running worked great for the Ravens last season. Baker would have to be willing to run some to get the desired effect though. Defenses are geared to stop the pass and quite a few of them probably aren’t very good at stopping the run. Now teams are going to have to retool to be better against the run.

The QB rarely runs out of a T formation, Gid. I believe you're thinking of the wishbone.

And there aren't many D-Coordinators (not named Dick LeBeau) that have ever had to scheme for the T formation.

Gotta give props to Joe Shoebert for all he gave the Browns through some pretty rough years. I hate to see him and Kirko go, but also won't criticize Berry & Co. on this, until I see their solutions.

They were two very positive influences and true Browns representatives over the past few years, and they will be missed for their class and heart.
