Per multiple Twitter sources the Bears are in talks to make Teddy Bridgewater their new QB with a deal somewhere around the 21 million per range. Also Nick Kwiatkowski is going to Las Vegas.
RFA RRH - 2ND RT Looks like it belongs on a microfilm from a Bond movie, but does in fact make sense. And the move makes sense too, broken clock Pace gets one right, yay. Been on the RRH wagon since the start but even I can admit after a white hot start he tailed off towards the end of the season. They needed to keep him and the money is affordable. And in the very unlikely event another team did move in, a 2nd rounder would represent great value. Another guy I was long a fan of. Don't like seeing this, but I hope they at least massively overpaid to give us a good comp pick.
Love RRH for sure. And the tender is perfect. Sucks to see Nick K walk but I see don't think he's an every down player. Bears resigned Danny T.....and when he's healthy he is still one of the better ILB's in football.
Kwit hands down outplayed him last season. He was far better against the pass than expected too, he was an every down player. If Kwit goes to the pro bowl next year im gonna be mega pissed.
Looking around there seems to be an awful lot of chat about the Bears trading for a QB. Great, except I've yet to see a QB plan this year that I like. Just don't know how they unfuck that position this year.
Off topic here but how in the hell do you trade Hopkins for basically a washed up David Johnson & a 2nd rounder. Unspeakably bad.
We signed Jimmy Graham. A washed-up, overhyped, selfish bum. The move makes the Packers better and us worse. Fuck you Pace.
$9 million guaranteed to Graham. What an absolute waste of cap space for team with little space to work with.
Assuming Pace keeps both 2nds, and I get that's kind of a BIG if given his aggressiveness in the draft, one has to be a tight end. It just has to be. Old, not-good Jimmy Graham and Demetrius Harris cannot be the answer going into the season. What's pathetic is that he is an upgrade. He shouldn't be, but when the bar is set at Jasper Horsted, JP Holtz, and Ben Braunecker, and anyone else I've missed after Burton goes down with the sniffles--you can't say he doesn't make the position "better." 1 year guaranteed at 9 mil. He's worth half that. I don't really need to add anything other than Pace bit on a weak market. What's palatable about RRH will be that when nobody gives up a 2nd round pick to the bears to sign him, he's a 3.3 million cap hit. That's nice given the bloat of Graham this offseason. I'm not in love with him the player, however. He was one in the sea of guys on the defense last year who couldn't get to the other teams' QB. He's not special. Do I even want to ask what the plan at edge is?
Pace should've already been fired. This catastrophe with Graham only makes it worse. I was ready to be optimistic about next year, and Pace has already ruined that. Bastard.
That is a horrific contract Pace has given Graham. 2/16/9 wot a total joke, if you were signing him it should've been 2years $9mil with 5gtd and even then it would be pointless cos Graham is completely done. This could be the worst FA signing Pace has ever made and my god there is competition for that title. 9mil for a dude that caught 30balls last year. Unreal.
Oh and I just saw the Kwit contract. I thought it would be a 40mil deal the Bears just got priced out of. You lost him to a 21mil deal?! With just 13.5gtd??!! You let him walk for LESS than you just paid Trevathan?!!!! FUCK YOU PACE, FUCK YOU!!!!
Stephon Diggs just got a 2 pick package including a 1st round return to Minnesota from Buffalo. Not liking that Packers now the Vikes each have two 1st rounders. But otherwise, why? Will Fuller cant stay on the field. Kenny Stills is a slot only guy. And the Fells TE was not statistically a factor (besides red zone targets). Hopkins still caught 100 passes on a "down year" in 2019. This is why you don't let Bill O'Brien be HC and GM at the same time...
The bears lost NT Nick Williams overnight to the Loins. 2 years 10 mil. Could get a 7th round comp for that when Graham cancels out Kwiatkowski in money spent/players lost or however the formula works.
Outside of QB, is there any position Pace has botched worse that TE? From Dion Sims to wasting a 2nd rounder on Shaheen to overpaying Burton and building zero depth. Now this.
