    2.0 GMO Franchise/Transition Tags, RFA & ERFA

a.) Exclusive Franchise Tag: A one-year tender offer to a player for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position for the current year, or 120 percent of his previous salary, whichever is greater. The player cannot negotiate with another team. The bump in pay scale (current average salary versus averaging of the previous five years) means only the very best receive this tag -- players for whom teams would gladly give up two first-round picks to sign.

b.) Transition Tag: The transition designation is a one-year tender offer for an amount that is the average of the top 10 salaries at the position -- as opposed to top five for the franchise tag. It guarantees the original club the right of first refusal to match any offer the player might receive from another club. The tagging team is awarded no compensation if it chooses not to match a deal.
    1. There are actually two types of Franchise Tags - Non-Exclusive and Exclusive. For purposes of this exercise, we will be using only Exclusive Franchise Tags due to the GMO Free Agent bidding process.
    2. Each team can only use one tag each year -- they can't designate both a franchise and transition player. A rescinded tender counts as a tag, meaning a team can't designate one player, rescind it, and use a new tag on another player in the same year.
    3. There will be a posting that provides the contract dollar amounts to be applied, by position, so you don't have to calculate it yourself.

c.) Restricted Free Agents (RFA): A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. RFAs are free to negotiate and sign with any team, but their original team can offer them one the of various qualifying offers ("tenders") that come with the Right of First Refusal and/or draft-pick compensation.
    1. First-round tender: If the player's original team decides not to match an offer sheet signed with another team, it is entitled to a first-round draft pick from his new team.
    2. Second-round tender: Draft-choice compensation: second-round pick.
    3. Original-round tender: Draft-choice compensation: a pick in the round the player was originally drafted in.
    4. Right-of-first-refusal tender: Team has the right to match any offer sheet signed with another team, but there is no draft compensation tied to this tender.
    5. There are no limits as to how many qualifying players on which you may apply an RFA tender.

NOTE: As with the Franchise/Transition Tags, there will be a posting that provides the contract dollar amounts to be applied for 1st, 2nd or Original Round Tenders, so you don't have to calculate it yourself.

d.) Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFA): Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract and the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.
    1. There is a finite window within the GMO Schedule to designate players for a Franchise/Transition Tag and RFA tenders.
      1. For the 2020 GMO, players must be designated for a Tag or RFA tender between 2/28/20 and 3/5/20.
    2. If a tagged or RFA tendered player is bid upon during the Free Agent bidding process, the existing team has three (3) days to match the offer or forfeit the player and receive the applicable draft pick compensation.
      1. Because of this, a team that bids on a tagged player or RFA during the free agent process MUST have the required draft pick compensation available.
    3. Players designated as ERFA's will be added to the existing team's roster when they are designated and will not be subject to the GMO Free Agent bidding process.
    4. There will be a post that provides the contract dollar amounts based on accrued seasons.
    ***** NOTICE *****

    Reference Section 2.0b2:

For the 2020 GMO - teams will be allowed to use both a Franchise Tag and a Transition Tag for two separate players. However, if either tag is applied and then rescinded - it can not be used again on a third player.

    4.0 GMO Contract Restructuring:
    1. Owners may choose to restructure/extend up to three contracts for any three players on their roster. Only players with two or less years left on their deal will be eligible.
    2. The only data source to be used for player contract restructuring is Overthecap.com. (Refer to the Contract Restructuring Process outlined below).
    3. Once an owner has decided which contracts he will be restructuring the player or players names will be posted to the "GMO Franchise Tag, Restructures, RFA & ERFA" thread as a record of the move. Owners may then change the dollar amounts in the "2020 GMO Team Rosters" thread to reflect the resulting cap savings.

    Contract Restructuring Process:
    1. Go to OvertheCap.com.
    2. Select the Team where the player's contract resides (this may or may not be the same team carrying that player's contract during the GMO exercise)
    3. From the list of Contracted Players displayed, click on the player's name you wish to restructure.
      1. At this point - verify he has two or less years remaining on his contract and make a note of his current Cap Number.
    4. On the drop down menu button underneath the "Dead Money & Cap Savings" header, select "Restructure".
    5. Make a note of the Cap Savings returned for the current year.
      1. NOTE: This is NOT the player's new Cap Number. It is the Cap Savings.
    6. Manually subtract the Cap Savings value returned in step 5 from the Cap Number noted in step 3.1. This value is the player's new Cap Number.
Please report all contract restructures in the "GMO Franchise Tag, Restructures, RFA & ERFA" thread in the following format:

    [Team] have Restructured;

    Axle Foley
    Prior Cap Number = $1,000,000
    Cap Saving = $750,000
    New Cap Number = $250,000

    Is three restructures too many?

I'd love to see him in Cleveland too Lyman, but I don't think the Redskins are letting him go. If they can't get the real life deal done with him, I'm expecting them to do the same thing, unfortunately.
