    Rules will be posted.

    1.0 GMO Team Rosters

On or about the date indicated in the GMO Schedule for “Roster Lock”, the L4SN "GMO Moderators" will post a Google Spreadsheet (2020 GMO Roster Lock.ods) that contains:
    1. A league wide summary of the Salary Cap data for all 32 teams.
    2. The pertinent contract/salary data for each player on all 32 teams at the point in time the roster is locked for this exercise.
    3. NOTE: Whereas the contract data from overthecap.com (by design) is dynamic and can change at any point in time and the contract data captured in this Google Spreadsheet is intentionally static, there may be an instance where a real team made a transaction not yet included in the 2020 GMO Roster Lock.ods data. (for example: a team added, released, resigned or extended a player prior to the Roster Lock date but this transaction was not included in the GMO Roster Lock.ods due to any inherent lag in the Overthecap data collection system.
      1. If a participant believes (and has evidence) that this occurred and has affected his team's GMO data, he has up to five (5) days from the Roster Lock Date to "Challenge" the roster lock data. A Moderator will review the Participant's evidence and, if warranted, will revise the GMO Roster Lock.ods Spreadsheet accordingly.
    4. Participants in the GMO may elect to use any method at their disposal (localized electronic spreadsheets, On-Line spreadsheets, paper and pencil, etc.) to keep track of all GMO transactions. However, it is highly encouraged to periodically post the affect of a transaction (+/-) on their team's Salary Cap space in the "2020 GMO Team Rosters" thread.
    5. It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that, at any point in time during this exercise, their respective team(s) do not exceed the allowable Salary Cap -and- that the total player headcount does not exceed 90.
    6. All player contract data must come from overthecap.com.

    2.0 GMO Franchise/Transition Tags, RFA & ERFA

a.) Exclusive Franchise Tag: A one-year tender offer to a player for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position for the current year, or 120 percent of his previous salary, whichever is greater. The player cannot negotiate with another team. The bump in pay scale (current average salary versus averaging of the previous five years) means only the very best receive this tag -- players for whom teams would gladly give up two first-round picks to sign.

b.) Transition Tag: The transition designation is a one-year tender offer for an amount that is the average of the top 10 salaries at the position -- as opposed to top five for the franchise tag. It guarantees the original club the right of first refusal to match any offer the player might receive from another club. The tagging team is awarded no compensation if it chooses not to match a deal.
    1. There are actually two types of Franchise Tags - Non-Exclusive and Exclusive. For purposes of this exercise, we will be using only Exclusive Franchise Tags due to the GMO Free Agent bidding process.
    2. Each team can only use one tag each year -- they can't designate both a franchise and transition player. A rescinded tender counts as a tag, meaning a team can't designate one player, rescind it, and use a new tag on another player in the same year.
    3. There will be a posting that provides the contract dollar amounts to be applied, by position, so you don't have to calculate it yourself.

c.) Restricted Free Agents (RFA): A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. RFAs are free to negotiate and sign with any team, but their original team can offer them one the of various qualifying offers ("tenders") that come with the Right of First Refusal and/or draft-pick compensation.
    1. First-round tender: If the player's original team decides not to match an offer sheet signed with another team, it is entitled to a first-round draft pick from his new team.
    2. Second-round tender: Draft-choice compensation: second-round pick.
    3. Original-round tender: Draft-choice compensation: a pick in the round the player was originally drafted in.
    4. Right-of-first-refusal tender: Team has the right to match any offer sheet signed with another team, but there is no draft compensation tied to this tender.
    5. There are no limits as to how many qualifying players on which you may apply an RFA tender.

NOTE: As with the Franchise/Transition Tags, there will be a posting that provides the contract dollar amounts to be applied for 1st, 2nd or Original Round Tenders, so you don't have to calculate it yourself.

d.) Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFA): Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract and the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.
    1. There is a finite window within the GMO Schedule to designate players for a Franchise/Transition Tag and RFA tenders.
      1. For the 2020 GMO, players must be designated for a Tag or RFA tender between 02/25/2020 at 8:00am and 03/03/2020 at 4:00pm.
    2. If a tagged or RFA tendered player is bid upon during the Free Agent bidding process, the existing team has three (3) days to match the offer or forfeit the player and receive the applicable draft pick compensation.
      1. Because of this, a team that bids on a tagged player or RFA during the free agent process MUST have the required draft pick compensation available.
    3. Players designated as ERFA's will be added to the existing team's roster when they are designated and will not be subject to the GMO Free Agent bidding process.
    4. There will be a post that provides the contract dollar amounts based on accrued seasons.

    3.0 GMO Roster Cuts
    1. Any player on your roster is available to be cut (or released) as long as their dead cap money does not push your franchise over the league cap.
    2. You are responsible for making sure these numbers work, but if you have any questions you can message a commissioner to get the correct answers.
    3. All Roster Cuts MUST be posted in the 2020 GMO Team Rosters thread in order to notify the other participants that the player is now available.

Fwiw I only have the Pats at 55 players under contract.

I won’t question the $74M in cap space, though.

OvertheCap now shows 56. That 69 is an obvious typo. I'll look into it further.

OverTheCap is my source for cap adjustments, right @Lyman ?

Rams have their first capsave cut ready to roll

  11. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Correct. Use Over the Cap ONLY.

  12. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

56 it is. Your cap Space is now correct, as well. (Nice try, though).

    Otc is still counting Brady.

  14. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Because, technically, he's still under contract through 2021 (at a bargain price) until he voids it.

    Here's where I get confused . . .

He also shows up on OTC's free agent list. It appears I have two choices:
    1. Remove him from your roster.
    2. Remove him from the Free Agent list.

    @Tim ???

    Happens every year @Lyman
That’s why we had a hard time deciding which site to consider gospel. Both will have a couple of things listed wrong

  16. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

Yes technically he’s still under contract and on the roster, but the contract voids when the league year starts and he cannot be franchised so I have no mechanism to retain him prior to the start of FA in this exercise, so consider him to be a UFA in GMO world.

How are you (meaning you, personally) viewing Brady’s contract?

That’s what I was looking for, and I think that is the correct way to handle it.

Is there dead money that needs to be accounted for when Brady’s deal ends?
