Sell to save your season is not an orthodox response to the circumstances the Leafs find themselves in. Still, when the REAL problems are 1) roster structure (ooph), and 2) team chemistry, those unusual tactics are called for. The Leafs have enough explosive firepower to “sell” and still be dangerous in May. But if they do not fix #2 then they’re fu€£ed.
Not much they do today will help them, a deadline move can only help a team that's close to winning it all. A team on that's on the fringes will only benefit temporarily, if at all.
I’m talking about selling in order to even reach the playoffs. That’s unorthodox strategy. But the Leafs roster is grossly unbalanced, and I think they are a chemistry hot mess. Selling some good pieces may be required, and it may even result in addition-by-subtraction.
Carolina is good at clogging the N-zone, they really never had any good scoring chances and were kept to the perimeter.
That's a tough one, with Rielly out, they really can't afford to lose Barrie unless it's a similar player in return, maybe Andreas Johnsson (who is out for the year) could get a decent return.
