  1. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

If it makes you guys feel better . . .

The Browns would need to duplicate the statues on Easter Island to honor their worthless instead of a Mount Rushmore.

Even that wouldn't be enough space.

Sounds like Judon is getting the franchise tag, so the dreams of all that cap space floating around is up in smoke for now. The Ravens will still have plenty of cash to field another good team, but throwing half of that space at Judon is a rough pill to swallow.

I don't like the idea of a huge contract to Judon, but I see both sides of it. To me, it's more like he's lucked into a spot at a time where the Ravens are over a barrel. They need more pass rushing help and not less. If guys like Correa, Williams, and Bowser panned out, we wouldn't be here. Heck even if Ferguson came close to living up to "sack daddy" last year.

It may be a tag, but they could still trade him, lets see what Eric has up his sleeve

Right, right, agreed, but the problem is that money gets tied up until something gets done. So either an extension, cut, or trade would have to happen before the start of free agency for us to see any of that cap space back. So even if the plan is to trade him, you still have to work with 14M in cap space instead of 30 until that happens.

Someone presumably got paid to write "Breshad Perriman Reunion". The only way those 3 words should ever be in the same sentence together is if you wrote "a Breshad Perriman Reunion would be the stupidest move the Ravens have ever or will ever make". He could pay the Ravens to be on the team, and I still don't want him.

Someone will take a flyer on him because he DID perform much better at Tampa with a couple of hundred yard receiving efforts when Evans and Goodwin were out injured. Does he need to be a Raven? No. We need an established reliable WR that can get open without scheme. (not too many of those in the league)

  8. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

Yeah someone will pick him up, I have no doubt about that. The "article" was clamoring for something like a 3 year 18M deal from the Ravens due to those final 3 games last season. How insane does someone have to be to offer him that contract for 3 games compared to the 3 years of knowledge we have about him? Dude couldn't possibly be a Ravens fan to write that. He also barely broke 50% for his catch% which is comparable to the 50% he had here.

There was also some insane stat with Flacco getting intercepted while targeting Perriman.

Do you think our DL or LB coaches should be fired? I know those positions occupy a number of different coaches, but compare it to the OL. Stanley was the best LT in the league last year and had a season for the decade. Brown is a pro bowler in his second year. Skura improved from last year. He went down and an undrafted player stepped in with no noticeable dropoff the remainder of the season. We also had no clue who was going to be our LG and had no issue all season.

Then look at the other side. We get no rush from our DL at all. The yards per rush was also the worst in Ravens history which means they had an exceptionally poor year. You've drafted guys like Kafusi, Correa, Bowser, and Williams, and only Bowser is even still on the team. None of these guys has been developed into a stud which is why we are looking all over for people to fill spots on the front 7.

Wink used to be the LB coach till he got promoted to DC. The key issue is when Clarence Brooks ended up retiring after the 2015 season. He was the long-time DL coach and he had medical issues as i seem to remember, but anyway, since Joe Cullen took over, the DL play has definitely declined. Yes, I think he needs to be upgraded with someone new because since 2015, the defensive line stats and overall play have steadily regressed .

Wow the only pure LB we've drafted in the past 5 years (every year after Mosley) is Kenny Young.

There were a couple OLB in Bowser and Williams, but it seems like we've been going DE and calling them OLB for the draft.

Also, in looking at the draft history, the Ravens are extremely boom or bust when drafting a LB. We either are getting a pro bowler like Lewis, Suggs, Mosley, and Boulevard, or complete duds for the rest of the picks. The only solid guys not really fitting into those two categories are Upshaw and Sharper.

Moral of the story, maybe we don't want to roll the dice on Queen or Murray?

  12. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

To counter that argument, the only LB on the Pro Bowl side outside of the first round is Adailus. So maybe the smart choice is make sure we don't draft a LB for meaningful snaps (i.e. not only a ST player) in rounds 2-X. Either first round LB or undrafted.

  13. Kyreal Franchise Player Ravens

The Ravens usually find their LB in the undrafted selections as i recall. Guys like Danelle Ellerbe, Jameel McClain, Albert McClellan, Peanut, Bart Scott, Zach Orr, and James Harrison, etc.

  14. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

Exactly. Isn't that crazy? It's not for a lack of trying through the draft either. Some of the "LB" we drafted were Kenny Young, Jason Phillips, Arthur Brown, Tavares Gooden. Yikes Those aren't 6th round fliers either. You're talking 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Speaking of busts, who saw that Elam was cut from the XFL?

Yanda retired, so there is.a bit of a need. Hopefully Powers can make a year 2 jump and Brown can continue excellent play without Yanda next to him.

Phenomenal career though for one of the most dominant and versatile lineman the NFL has seen. Definitely a HoF player, but it could take a few tries due to his primary position.

I wonder how big the Ravens are on Powers. We've had multiple years where people thought they line was doomed because of one player, only to see that player get a chance and actually play well. Mekari last year after Skura went down, Skura in 2018, Jensen in 2017. At this point, I'm willing to give Powers a shot (or Mekari if Skura is healthy enough to take the C spot again. Hell, or Skura at RG and Mekari at C).

Sucks to hear Yanda retiring though. Glad he could go out on his own terms, but he was still playing well. I think I saw an article say he only gave up 1 sack in the last 4 years.

Yanda is a Hall of Famer, The epitome of a dedicated professional. And replacing him is next to impossible unless lightning strikes twice.

But Guys who've been here and know the system, guys like James Hurst, Ben Powers and Patrick Mekari, should all get the first opportunity to win a starting job. They've earned it. But that doesn't mean the Ravens won't be bringing in some O lineman to add both depth and competition; not only through the draft and the un-drafted free agent frenzy that follows but maybe a "right-price" veteran free agent.

If I'm not mistaken the Ravens now have a total of 8 draft picks (4 in the first 106) I can see an O lineman in the 3rd or 4th round.

Yanda will be HOF, but it might not be first ballot

  20. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

Yeah if Yanda played Tackle solely, he'd be a first ballot guy. Interestingly, I think the one thing that is in Yanda's favor that completely separates him from other HoF worthy guards is his ability to move about the line and play each position at an elite level. You don't see guards moving to tackle for an entire season or swapping guard positions just to play through an injury and avoid IR. I bet he even took snaps at center in practice.
