Kreider to the Bs would be great and these teams have done this before, Nash to Boston. Unloaded Beleskey then and would be great to do the same with Backes now. Could even free up the space to actually sign Kreider assuming it worked out.

I was just thinking that Kreider to Boston makes huge sense. I think the NYR are going through the motions of “trying” to sign him to placate the fans.

I think the odds are greater than 75% that he has a new sweater soon.

He’d help any team, but Boston and the Colorado seem the most logical landing spots.

Martinez (kings) D to the Knights for a 2nd rounder (blues pick).
Vegas always seems to get er done.

Correction, two second rounders, '20 and '21.

I could see, more like hope to see, adding one of Kreider, Josh Anderson, Jumbo Joe or Palmieri. Sweeney would need to pay up for Kreider or Palmieri. Do it.

As you mentioned Colorado also looking for something similar it seems.

I’ll make a (super) early call: Boston vs. Colorado for the SC.

You’ll have to wait until after the TDL for my savvy prognostication of the winner.

Ondrej Kase was a real nice pickup by Sweeney and could be there for a long time. He’s another 7th round pick from 2014 (along with Victor Goalafsson). Boston also gained major cap relief by dumping Backes. They gave up a prospect, Axel Anderson, and a first. But all in all I think move could help propel that pick to #31. And, Sweeney is probably not done.

Kase trade makes sense for both teams I’d think.
The 1st rounder probably the best asset for Anaheim, Axel Andersson is a good prospect and then I’d think Backes could actually help that roster/locker room a bit.
Kase a cost controlled middle 6F that will have every opportunity to get quality minutes. Swapping him for Backes saves close to $2m for next year as well. Krug, Grzelyck, DeBrusk and Halak all up, they need that money.

The only concern with Kase is his history of concussions. I don’t know how many he’s had, but it’s enough that his career could end prematurely.

Otherwise, the speed, the cap relief, and the potential long term impact add up to a major win by Boston. I understand Anaheim’s rationale in making this trade, but short of a career threatening injury, Sweeney smoked ‘em on this one.

Zach Bogosian has cleared unconditional waivers and is a UFA

He is free to play where he wants and is wanted.

I think a team will want him for the league minimum. The risk is about 1/3 $765k for insurance - that’s a pittance. A trade, on the other hand, would have cost 1/3 of $2.6MM - and that’s with Buffalo retaining 50%.

Some in Buffalo are complaining about getting “nothing” for Bogo. They got a lot - much needed cap flexibility.

Whoever signs Bogo will get a great person in a body sculpted for the postseason. Nothing but best wishes for Bogo - go win a SC.

Hopefully he can stay healthy. Kase a 24 year old Czech, hoping he can gel with Krejci.
I love that it’s more than a rental and that they sold 3/4 of Backes’ money. Also nice for Backes to get over to a place where he can play, seems like a great team guy.

If Sheary is peddled (PIT has interest in a depth F, and know him well), IF ... I think it could spell a bigger move by Buffalo. Removing some (all?) of his $3MM cap space could be just what’s needed. Just musing.

Tyler Ennis on the move again to the Oilers, no word on the return yet.

Good chance since I believe he’s a good fit for TOR.

I’d rather, however, see him go to a team that has a CHANCE at the Cup. (Just kidding. Or, am I?)

Real happy for TEnnis to be going to his home town. And with the Oil playing well, he has a chance for some fun playing again. Always liked him.
