When I see a west coast team playing good on the road on the east coast, that means something.

Good coaching too. He had them ready.

Canucks really have that first line going with Virtanen having a good year, but not only that, Markstrom is standing on his head.

    The coaching is solid too.

Im hoping the Panthers can get it going and make a game of this, but Montreal has been good and solid as of recent.

The Florida Panthers will not have their best player on Monday night when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs for a huge game in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Coach Joel Quenneville announced that Aleksander Barkov will not be available for the game due to a lower-body injury.

The Panthers are currently listing him as day-to-day.

Panthers must have the worst D in the league. I knew we've brought it up before as a team weakness but they must be the worst D unit in the league. So many odd man rushes coming in on them nightly.

They are by far the worst. I don't think there's been an argument to be made otherwise for the last several years. Instead of pursuing legitimate defensemen, Tallon chased forwards, signed a goalie to an albatross contract, and brought in the ghost of Anton Stralman.

Dale Tallon should've been fired already. If he doesn't bring in legitimate defensive talent immediately, he should be fired now.

Mike Matheson's contract will screw this team for years to come.

I mean, theres room on the Florida D-less ship with Detroit and Ottawa. Whats with the Atlantic division teams and the D?

Toronto is right up there also in GA. These teams give up a ton of SOG, but score prolifically and they look good in the regular season, which has been proven to not go well come playoff time. Defenses and defenseman are highly underrated.

Ah, yes - two teams that a playoff hopeful definitely wants to be associated with...

I think in Florida's case it's bad scouting / drafting / prioritizing. In Toronto's, they chose to pay their F's. I don't think either team is going anywhere without fixing their back end. Toronto may supplant Florida in the 3rd place spot if the recent trade pays off, and Florida continues to make no fixes.

I really thought the Panthers had a hope. With that deadline nearing and the team in freefall after the break, it's looking less and less likely.

Cody Ceci has been the worse D in the league this season, he's been sent to Robidas island.
