When KC got within 24-14, I texted a bunch of friends that not only was Houston in deep doo-doo, but that KC would threaten to put up a 50-burger on them.

I was at a family gathering (where we were not watching any sports) and my wife who stayed home because she wasnt feeling well texted me how they were not off to a good start (this is when they were down 14-0). Next thing i know my brother is peeking at his phone and saying their loosing 24-0. I told him (and texted my wife at the same time) any other team I would be worried but because the chiefs can score quick and in bunches im not worried. My brother scoffed but not for long lol

The 1970s Steelers defense will be getting another Hall of Famer this year.

Safety Donnie Shell was one of 10 Seniors candidates selected to the Hall as part of this year’s special Centennial Class. Shell had been a finalist for election through regular channels in 2002, but fell short of election.

Shell was a member of all four Steelers Super Bowl champions in the 1970s and was named a first-team All-Pro three times during his 14 years with Pittsburgh. Shell had 51 career interceptions in the regular season and recorded at least five interceptions every year from 1979 to 1984 while adding two interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 19 career postseason games.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II said this week that he expects the team to play in the Hall of Fame Game with former coach Bill Cowher already part of the Centennial Class and former safety Troy Polamalu expected to be elected in his first year of eligibility. Shell’s selection should all but ensure that black and yellow are primary colors in Canton this summer.

Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is potentially in legal trouble over an incident that took place in LSU’s locker room after Monday night’s national championship game.

Video appears to show Beckham slap the butt of a police officer who was in LSU’s locker room. NOLA.com reports that New Orleans police obtained an arrest warrant accusing Beckham of simple battery in connection with the incident.

The report said authorities originally wanted Beckham charged with misdemeanor sexual battery, but a judge denied that request.

Beckham, who played at LSU, was celebrating with the team on the field and in the locker room after they won the national championship. Beckham has already been under scrutiny over potentially breaking NCAA rules by handing cash to players, but this legal scrutiny is potentially much more problematic for him.

After Beckham appeared to slap the officer, the officer turned around and exchanged words with Beckham, but he was not arrested at the time.

The Browns have added another name to the list of candidates for their General Manager job.

According to multiple reports, the team will interview Patriots director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort for the vacancy. The Browns fired John Dorsey after the end of the regular season.

Ossenfort’s name has come up during other G.M. searches, but he has not interviewed for a position. The Texans wanted to speak to him before hiring Brian Gaine two years ago, but the Patriots blocked the meeting from taking place. His contract is believed to be expiring, which leaves no obstacle for teams interested in bringing him in for a conversation.

Vikings assistant G.M. George Paton and Eagles vice president Andrew Berry are also options that the Browns are considering for the G.M. position.

The officiating crew for Super Bowl LIV has been made official.

Bill Vinovich has been assigned to be the Super Bowl LIV referee; he previously worked Super Bowl XLIX between the Patriots and Seahawks in Glendale, Arizona.

His crew includes umpire Barry Anderson, down judge Kent Payne, line judge Carl Johnson, field judge Michael Banks, side judge Boris Cheek, back judge Greg Steed and replay official Mike Chase.

These are the first Super Bowl assignments for Anderson and Chase, and the third for Payne and Cheek.

Steed is the only member of Vinovich's crew to have officiated a Super Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida (XLIV).

Super Bowl LIV will include the winners of this weekend's games between the Titans and Chiefs in the AFC and the Packers and 49ers in the NFC. It will take place on Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. ET from Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida.

Chiefs' Chris Jones (calf) limited participant in practice...

The Chiefs have a monster to try to stop this weekend in Derrick Henry when they take on the Titans in the AFC Championship Game.

Their best answer upfront isn't certain he'll be able to play.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones (calf) was a limited participant in Friday's practice, coach Andy Reid told reporters. NFL Network's James Palmer reported Jones didn't do too much in practice, but enough to at least loosen up.

"It's day to day," he told reporters after practice. "It's not really the magnitude of the game because if I can [I'll] play. If I can't then it's unfortunate. But it could be a regular-season game, playoff game, a preseason game, if I can play [I'll] play."

Jones did not participate in the Chiefs' practices Wednesday and Thursday.

Jones went through a similar process in the week leading up to Kansas City's Divisional Round win over Houston, but wasn't able to play in that contest due to being unable to push off on the injured calf. With a week to improve, his status remains up in the air, though it appears to be trending toward positive news.

The Chiefs will need him. Kansas City owns the 26th-ranked run defense in the NFL and is going up against a Titans offense powered by the league's rushing champion in Henry.

This game should be interesting. The Titans will have a few 7+ minute drives and the Chiefs will have a bunch of 2 minute 80 yard drives.
