Earl Thomas is 5'9", Mason Rudolph is 6'5" and was completely upright. Cheap shot.

Yes, he meant to knock him out, he did it with intent..... *sarcasm*..... He got sandwiched while scrambling, it was a football play, nothing CHEAP about it. No one can help that Mason Rudolph has a chin like Glassjaw Joe from Punch Out....

I do have to agree with this about the Rudolph hit. He's scrambling around and Thomas hits him. Unfortunate. While I can't judge intent, I would say what Thomas did was within the parameters of play, despite the fine.

Clowney's hit, while again admitting that I can't read a person's intent, looked deliberate and purposeful. Wentz was clearly tackled and the play was effectively over. Clowney tackled in such a way that looked like he intended to hit a defenseless player with a helmet.

My 2 cents is this. Whether intentional or not, a player needs to be held responsible as to what he does with his helmet. Clearly turned out to be a head shot and should have been treated as such.

As a bunch of you know, im also a hockey fan. In the NHL, whether its on-purpose or a simple accident, a player is held responsible for what happens with his stick. The NFL should follow suit with the helmet rule and make the call regardless of what things 'look like'... a head shot is a head shot.

Panthers reportedly will hire Matt Rhule

The primary candidates to coach the Panthers were Eric Bieniemy, Matt Rhule, and Josh McDaniels. And one of them is indeed getting the job.

Rhule will leave Baylor for Charlotte, as first reported by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

The Panthers moved on from Ron Rivera with roughly a month to go during the season, as new owner David Tepper moved to put his imprint on the football operation. Rhule, who was due to meet with the Giants next, gets the job before interviewing with the team for which he served as assistant offensive line coach in 2012.

The 44-year-old has quickly turned around Baylor program that was in shambles post-Art Briles. The New York City native also served as head coach at Temple.

He’ll become the fifth coach in Panthers history, joining Dom Capers, George Seifert, John Fox, and Rivera.

I like that hire. Rhule was a guy I wish Dallas had interviewed. But Jerruh is in "win-now" mode and didn't want to have any growing pains with a college coach.

Interesting. I just read this morning that the Giants wanted permission to interview Jason Garrett. Funny how quickly things can and do change.

Now, I don't know anything about the guy, but...

Promoting a positional coach straight to HC is generally not a good idea. Moreover, it's not like the Patriots' WR's were blowing up the league. I'm just saying... I don't get it. But that does feel very "Giants", I guess.

There’s only 1 HC vacancy now correct? When was the last time there were so few vacancies before the Divisional round of the playoffs?

Also read that Matt Rhule gave the Giants a chance to match or better the offer he got from the Panthers and they declined.

I know little about him outside of that he also coached special teams. I don't like basing how good a coach is off of what his positional players have currently done. You can't teach talent.

That being said...the track record of Patriots assistants becoming head coaches around the league is somewhat spotty.

The offer to Rhule is a bit... extensive lol. I don't know what to make of all this. I have been all in on Rhule for months. It was a massive failure on the part of the Giants to let him meet with Carolina before them if he was really their #1 target as reported. But I can't hold it against Mara to refuse to match 7 years - 70 million without having the interview first...

Judge is a complete unknown who apparently blew everyone away in the interview yesterday. I am trying to be optimistic about it but it's hard since basically all anyone can say about him is Belichick likes him and he has a PHD in education... He has been the special teams coach for a few years and only took on WR's in 2019 after Flores left and took staff with him.

He’s also been the ST coordinator for the last 5 seasons. I think we can agree the Pats ST’s were pretty OK during that time.

The NFL is taking another look at the play that ended Carson Wentz's playoff debut early.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the league is reviewing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney's hit on Wentz from this past Sunday, noting that a suspension isn't expected but a fine is possible.

Wentz was in the process of being tackled by Seattle's Bradley McDougald when Clowney made helmet-to-helmet contact with the Eagles quarterback. Wentz would soon exit the wild-card game and did not return after entering the concussion protocol. Josh McCown played the remaining three-plus quarters of Philadelphia's 17-9 loss.

Eagles left tackle Jason Peters said he told Clowney afterward the hit was dirty, per ESPN.

"It was a bang-bang play," Clowney said. "I don't intend to hurt anybody in this league, let me just put that out there. I've been down the injury road; it's not fun. My intention was not to hurt him. I was just playing fast."

Clowney was not flagged on the play. But it still might cost him.

With a big postseason, Chiefs pass rusher Terrell Suggs could break the NFL’s record for career sacks in the playoffs.

So far in his career, Suggs has recorded 12.5 sacks in 18 postseason games, all with the Ravens. Now with the Chiefs, Suggs will face Deshaun Watson and the Texans on Sunday, and he could close in on the all-time record.

Suggs is currently third in career postseason sacks, behind Bruce Smith, who had 14.5 sacks in 20 postseason games with the Bills, and Willie McGinest, who had 16 sacks in 18 postseason games with the Patriots. So Suggs needs four sacks to break the record.

Sacks have only been an official statistic since 1982, so calling the career sack record an all-time record is a big misleading. We don’t know, for instance, how many sacks Mean Joe Greene had in his 17 postseason games with the Steelers. But we do know that Suggs has been getting after quarterbacks in the postseason like few players the NFL has seen.

He literally left his feet to drill him in the head. Also led with both forearms - AND - the ball was already gone.

Hello Mr. @Tim . No worries if the answer is yes but are we not allowed to post gifs anymore? Or do I just not know how to do it?
