I would laugh my ass off if J Jones hires Marvin Lewis. I can't believe they interviewed him.

If jackson wasout of the argument there are still other guys to put i the conversation before wents (IMHO). Dalvin Cook, Christian mcCaffrey, and Michael Thomas all spring to mind. One could also make the argument to throw Ryan Tanahill into the discussion.

Defensive players who could be in the argument include Tre'Davious White, TJ Watt, Chandler Jones, and Stephon Gilmore but we all know its not going to any defensive guy unless they break some serouis records.

End of an era: Jason Garrett fired as Cowboys coach

A season that spun from seeming Super Bowl contention to playoff hopes squandered has marked the end of Jason Garrett‘s run leading the Cowboys.

After days of meetings, speculation and news of no news, the Cowboys are moving on without the second-longest-tenured coach in franchise history.

The Cowboys fired Garrett on Sunday, ending Garrett’s time as Dallas head coach following a disappointing 2019 season that saw his team miss the playoffs, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer first reported the news.

While Garrett’s ousting isn’t terribly surprising, how long it took after the conclusion of the regular season was an unpredictable turn that elongated Dallas’ season-long soap opera.

The two sides will part after a long marriage that began with Garrett as a backup quarterback for seven of his eight NFL seasons from 1993-1999. From there, Garrett joined the coaching ranks as Dallas’ offensive coordinator under Wade Phillips in 2007. He remained in that capacity until 2010, when he replaced Phillips as interim coach after a 1-7 start. Since then, Garrett compiled an 85-67 record as the Cowboys coach, including a victory over the rival Redskins in the 2019 finale that ended the tumultuous campaign on a winning note.

Glad you got the result you wanted, but that was OPI. The way the rules are these days, its not even close. OPI.

I agree, it was. I even admitted to it in the Vikings, Saints thread. As soon as I saw it I said; uh oh, that's getting called back, but to my surprise it wasn't.

Interesting explanation by the league officials also.

The last play of Sunday’s Vikings-Saints game resulted in a touchdown, along with a real question as to whether Minnesota tight end Kyle Rudolph pushed off before making the catch.

After overtime ended, NFL senior V.P. of officiating Al Riveron answered questions from Larry Holder of TheAthletic.com regarding the decision to not overturn the ruling on the field of no offensive pass interference.

“We looked at all of the angles that FOX afforded us, and FOX gave us some great views,” Riveron said. “There is contact by both players, but none of that contact rises to the level of a foul. This is consistent with what we’ve done all year long, we left the ruling on the field. We let it stand.”

Consistency throughout the season is debatable, because the standard has at times seemed inconsistent. Regardless, Rudolph pushed the chest of safety P.J. Williams with one hand, hard enough that Williams’ head was driven backward. Riveron was adamant that there was no foul.

“[W]e’re very comfortable with what we saw,” Riveron told Holder. “Nothing came through afterward that we had not seen prior to making the ruling.”

Former NFL official Terry McAulay, who now works for NBC, believes that offensive pass interference should have been called on the field, and that the ruling on no pass interference the field should have been overturned.

Wow, was I wrong about DK Metcalf. I didn't think he had the moves to play WR. He really amazed me today.
Maybe it's a different game with Wentz. Probably so. Too bad for the Eagles. Lots of injuries finally took the toll.

I disagree. Both plays he ran straight past blown coverage. DK is still relatively shit. Big speed and big hops and strength but he still hasn't shown anything else. Eagles coverage just sucked.

Game was over as soon as Wentz was out. A concussion isn't a knock on Wentz. It's a knock on Clowney. That guy is near the top of dirty motherfuckers for me now. I don't believe I am completely biased either. Look at the replay. Wentz was already going to ground and Clowney at that point decided "OH I can get off my feet now and technically not get a late hit penalty while giving him a nice shot". So he leaps into a fucking swan dive and head first all his weight into Wentz's helmet. It's clear as day. Sure Clowney was probably aiming for the back or shoulder but Wentz didn't fall that far.

If you don't look at that and see that Clowney was trying to get a full power helmet shot to Wentz then I dunno what to say except call you blind.

Wentz out and a gimping McCown in. Surprised there was any chance.

Thank you for your reply regarding Metcalf.

I was very surprised they didn't even question how Clowney hit Wentz. Completely egregious and unnecessary. Worthy of a flag IMO. Damage done at that point unfortunately
Sorry your team lost. They really match up quite well vs the Packers.

FYI. Relatively shit is still in terms of his hype at draft and now as opposed to what his role and current perceived upside really is.

As you can see Wentz is already well on his way down when Clowney decides to get a free shot in. Clear intent to injure even if not a late hit. But he misses the body and get helmet first. No Eagles fan will ever respect Clowney again just like Buffalo disowned Gronk.

Man it could have been an upset with McCown earlier too but Seattle got a TD instead of a FG when Barnett was called for roughing the passer when a Seahawks pushed him into Wilson and he tried to keep him up.

These last few years the refs have just not shown any sign of improvement. It may actually be getting worse.

Someone I know just said to me that Clowney was only trying to get a shot at the back of the QB because when given a chance you take it but that it isn't intent to injure... The reason you take that shot is for some intent to injure, even if it's to make him a bit sore. lol. Contradictions man.

Taking a shot is all well in good but you can't miss and should make sure you don't. (miss legal area and hit illegal).

  19. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

The refs gave an explanation on Clowney not being called for a foul that not only makes little sense but also one that ignores other things that make it illegal regardless. Nothing like NFL refs trying to cover their asses and not wanting to say they are wrong.

Someone tried to tell me it was a "bang-bang" play. WTF? What does that have to do with anything? This isn't a thing about something happening early or late. It's the hit in general.
