Firing Dorsey right now would be a monumental mistake.

No - there are 12 teams in the playoffs this year who are distinctly unlike the Steelers.

 

Vikings got a real bad match-up with the Saints in New Orleans,they haven't forgotten the Minneapolis Miracle boy were they pissed i see this game as a revenge game IMO

Yup. The Steelers drafted a more than solid QB in 04 and it's looks like they can't find a competent replacement for him. They better do so sooner than later or they'll be different from those 12 teams every year.

 

I have to laugh at any fan bashing another fans team when both teams are golfing from here on out.

 

Eagles beat Giants 34-17 to clinch NFC East

Appropriately, the Eagles had to scratch and claw and sweat it out Sunday against the Giants. It’s what they have done all season.

They made sure their season didn’t end Sunday.

Philadelphia took care of business, though the Giants made things interesting. The Eagles’ 34-17 victory clinched the NFC East.

The Eagles (9-7) head to the postseason next weekend, while the Giants end the season 4-12.

Eagles running back Boston Scott had two career touchdowns in his career before Sunday. He had three Sunday. Tight end Josh Perkins scored his second career touchdown.

Scott caught four passes for 84 yards and had 19 carries for 54 yards and three touchdowns.

Carson Wentz went 23-of-40 for 289 yards and a touchdown.

The death knell for the Giants — and for the Cowboys, who needed a Philadelphia loss to win the NFC East — came when Daniel Jones fumbled the snap on a rainy afternoon with 13:03 remaining. Fletcher Cox recovered at the New York 2-yard line.

On the next play, Scott scored to give the Eagles a 27-17 lead. He later added a 2-yard touchdown.

That began chants of “Cowboys suck!” with Giants fans joining in with Eagles fans.

Giants center Jon Halapio was carted off late in the fourth quarter.

49ers clinch top seed in NFC

The 49ers are hard to stop on offense right now.

Not knowing who you have to stop on a given night certainly helps.

The 49ers used their customary versatile attack to beat the Seahawks 26-21, and claim the NFC West title and the top seed in the NFC playoffs in the process.

They continued to spread it around like they have so often this year, with rookie wide receiver Deebo Samuel taking the star turn this week.

Samuel finished with 135 yards from scrimmage, with his 30-yard touchdown run one of the early highlights. He also caught five passes for 102 yards.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has spread the ball around all season, but their varied running game (six different players had carries), and use of fullbacks and tight ends makes them such an interesting modern offense, with an old-school feel.

NFL releases playoff schedule

The NFL released the playoff schedule minutes after the 49ers finished off the Seahawks to secure the top seed in the NFC.

The AFC teams will play the wild-card round Saturday and the NFC teams Sunday.

The Texans and Bills will open the postseason on Saturday with a 4:35 p.m. ET kickoff in Houston. That game will air on ESPN/ABC.

The Titans and Patriots will follow at 8:15 p.m. ET on CBS on Saturday.

On Sunday, Minnesota will play at New Orleans at 1:05 p.m. ET on Fox followed by Seattle at Philadelphia on NBC at 4:40 p.m. ET.

The league also announced the days and times for the divisional-round games.

The 49ers will host the 4:35 p.m. ET game Jan. 11 on NBC followed by the Ravens and whomever they host at 8:15 p.m. ET on CBS.

The Chiefs will host the 3:05 p.m. ET game Jan. 12 on CBS, and the Packers will host the 6:40 p.m. ET game on Fox.

The AFC Championship Game will kickoff at 3:05 p.m. ET on Jan. 19. The NFC Championship Game will follow that day at 6:40 p.m. ET with Fox broadcasting it.

 

Washington is moving quickly to reset their franchise after another losing season.

On the heels of a report that the team is planning to hire Ron Rivera as their next head coach comes word of another major change in the organization. Longtime team president Bruce Allen has been relieved of those duties.

Chatter that such a move was coming surfaced in recent days, although it was unclear if Allen would be reassigned or jettisoned completely. It’s the latter as team owner Daniel Snyder made clear that Allen is no longer going to be employed by the organization in any role.

“As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as President of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization,” Snyder said in a statement. “Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C.”

Allen had become a frequent source of criticism and anger from a fanbase that saw two playoff games over Allen’s 10 years as the head of the team’s football operations. Allen’s tenure was also marked by a long series of embarrassing stories about the way the team handled matters with players, which only added to the bad feelings generated by the team’s record.

Allen defended the team’s approach and said he felt there was a good culture around the franchise, but Snyder has still opted to move in a different direction for 2020 and beyond. There has been talk of Allen landing a job with the Rams, so he may surface in Los Angeles while Washington charts its new course without him.

16 seasons without a losing season is great in today's NFL. Of coarse the Patriots have an even better streak going.

 

If you didn't make the playoffs....calling it a "winning" season is a joke.

Doesn't matter if you were 10-6, 8-8, or 4-12....if you're sitting at home....you failed.

 

Fixt it for you.

 

No one gives a hale and hearty crap about what you did 16 seasons ago.

You're 8-8. Welcome to mediocrity.

 

Meanwhile...

The Giants have added another vacancy to this year’s Black Monday pool.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, they’ve fired coach Pat Shurmur.

The decision seems easy enough on its face, as Shurmur was 9-23 there in two seasons.

That’s the same record he posted during two years as the Browns’ head coach as well, which seems to justify the decision.

It’s unclear at the moment if they’ll go clean house and send General Manager Dave Gettleman with him.
