Anyways, Bergevin has won some of the big player trades but nothing that will win them a cup.

 

And it could be worse, teams that go a decade with hardly any high picks usually bottom out, which could've been the better move.

 

Bergevin shouldve been fired a long time ago. Maybe no one worse at FA and his drafting has been questionable at best.

 

He's currently paying $5.5 m to 3 AHL players (Alzner, Weise, Kinkaid) and has the Steve Mason buyout still in play.

 

I agree, the habs haven't been a threat in years and he's making moves to try and keep the fanbase happy.
He's managing the same way Burke did when he was here. Afraid of the bottoming out and getting backlash from the media because of where he works.

 

Bergevin has made some dandy's... just a few, Lars Eller, Devante Smith-Pelly, P.K. Subban, Mikhail Sergachev, Alex Galchenyk. One of my favs was the Pacioretty one... he's flourishing outside of the Canadiens system. I don't understand the love afair for Bergevin, its a strange loyalty at best when even the Habs fans want him gone.

On the flip side - the negative banter and the Habs losing is pleasant to behold.

 

I am watching the highlight of Wayne Gretzky's record 802nd goal and damn was it so 90s. The company uniform for the video crew was 20th Century FOX jean jackets.

I remember watching that back then. Wish it was a better goal or a more vintage Gretzky kind of a goal.

 

There's a recent interview with Gretzky, he mentions how he was always playing scared that he would get cut because he was small.

He also mentioned how the nhl was worried at the time because Howe and Orr retired. They were worried that there wouldn't be any new superstars.

 

HAHAHA it took what half a season to reassure the NHL it had a new super star.

 

So now as the decade comes to an end, it's the roaring 20s again.
