Doug Marrone was told that sunday is his last game in Jacksonville. Good move. There were reports he might be staying which would have been very bad considering the QB situation. You may have heard me talk about it a month ago on the podcast. Dec 5th I believe.
Im still confused by the reporting that Marrone hasn't been told yet that he's gone... seems a bit harsh and unprofessional-like.
Just read about Marvin Jones wr of the Detroit Lions his 6 month old child has suddenly died may God bless you and your family at this terrible time
There could soon be a spike in Washington season-ticket sales. Team president Bruce Allen, a constant source of criticism and frustration from a long-suffering fan base in recent years, will no longer be running the team’s football operations as of Monday, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington. PFT has heard that Allen would be given the opportunity to resign or retire, if his employment with the team will be ending. It’s possible, as Finlay notes, that Allen will remain with the team, in a different capacity. Some have speculated that Allen’s lingering presence with the organization relates to the team’s effort to secure a new stadium, eventually. However it plays out, Allen will no longer have a role in the football side of the business, per Finlay. As one source has explained it to PFT, senior V.P. of football operations/general counsel Eric Schaffer is believed to be an internal candidate to inherit all or part of Allen’s authority. Owner Dan Snyder also could transfer Allen’s duties to an outsider. source; NBC
Steelers and Raiders need Tennessee to lose, but the Texans have decided to sit key players, including Watson and Hopkins. https://live4sportnetwork.com/texans/texans-plan-to-sit-several-starters-including-deshaun-watson/
Since joining the Ravens in Week 7 after they traded for him, Marcus Peters has been a mainstay in the starting lineup and a standout. And Baltimore isn't letting him get away. The team announced Saturday that it had extended Peters' contract, and it is a three-year extension worth $42 million, including $32 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Since Peters joined the Ravens, they haven't lost a game. Peters has tallied five interceptions this season (three since joining the Ravens) with a league-high three returned for scores (two with the Ravens) and has produced 52 tackles and 14 passes defended. A five-year pro who began his career with the Chiefs and appeared in a Pro Bowl, Peters moved on to the Rams, where he helped them to the Super Bowl last season. He was traded to the Ravens during the middle of the season and now, as he and the top-seeded Ravens prepare for the playoffs, he's been locked up for the long haul. source; NFL.com
The Bengals and center Trey Hopkins have reached a three-year extension worth $20.4 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday morning...
Deeply sad for him his family. My wife and I lost our 4 month old son in 03. It was tremendously painful. All my thoughts to him.
The NFL has 16 games to end the 2019 regular season today, and 10 of them have playoff implications. Here’s a look at which games have implications for both teams, which games have implications for one team, and which games don’t matter in the playoff race: MAJOR IMPLICATIONS FOR BOTH TEAMS 49ers at Seahawks: Sunday Night Football has the game of the day, the NFC West championship game. The winner wins the division, the loser is the NFC 5 seed and will play on the road against the NFC East champion next week. If the 49ers win they earn home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs; if the Seahawks win they still need help to get a bye. MAJOR IMPLICATIONS FOR ONE TEAM, MINOR IMPLICATIONS FOR ONE TEAM Titans at Texans: For the Titans, they’re in the playoffs with a win. For the Texans, it’s possible that a win could bump them from the AFC 4 seed to the AFC 3 seed, but that’s such a minor difference that Houston plans to rest its starters and accept the 4 seed. PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS FOR ONE TEAM Steelers at Ravens: The Steelers make the playoffs with a win and a Titans loss. (The Steelers can also make the playoffs with a loss, if the Titans also lose, the Colts win and the Raiders lose.) The Ravens have already clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Eagles at Giants: If the Eagles win, they win the NFC East. (They also win the NFC East with a loss, if the Cowboys also lose.) The Giants are mathematically eliminated. Washington at Cowboys: The Cowboys win the NFC East if they win and the Eagles lose. Washington is mathematically eliminated. Dolphins at Patriots: The Patriots earn a playoff bye with a win. (The Patriots also earn a playoff bye if the Chiefs lose.) The Dolphins are mathematically eliminated. Chargers at Chiefs: The Chiefs earn a playoff bye with a win and a Patriots loss. The Chargers are mathematically eliminated. Raiders at Broncos: The Raiders make the playoffs with a win, a Titans loss, a Steelers loss and a Colts win, as long as they clinch the strength of victory tiebreaker over the Steelers, which they will if at least one of the Bears, Lions, Chargers or Patriots win. Packers at Lions: The Packers clinch a first-round bye with a win and can clinch home-field advantage with a win and a 49ers loss. (The Packers could also clinch a bye with a loss, if the Saints also lose.) The Lions are mathematically eliminated. Saints at Panthers: The Saints clinch a first-round bye with a win and either a Packers or 49ers loss, and clinch home-field advantage with a win and both a Packers and a 49ers loss. (The Saints can also clinch a bye with a loss, if the 49ers lose and the Packers win.) The Panthers are mathematically eliminated. NO PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS Jets at Bills: The Jets are mathematically eliminated and the Bills are locked into the AFC 5 seed. Bears at Vikings: The Bears are mathematically eliminated and the Vikings are locked into the NFC 6 seed. Browns at Bengals: Both teams are mathematically eliminated. Falcons at Buccaneers: Both teams are mathematically eliminated. Cardinals at Rams: Both teams are mathematically eliminated. Colts at Jaguars: Both teams are mathematically eliminated. source; NBC
History does, in fact, repeat itself. There are reports that the Texans will rest their starters today against the Titans. If true, and the Titans win, they will be in the playoffs. The same thing happened in 2007 when the Colts sat their starters for the final game (against the Titans) and the Titans backed into the playoffs.
It happens every season now. It's a violent game and when you have nothing to gain going into the post season, you rest your starters. I remember Ben getting carted off in a stretcher in a meaningless game against the Browns. But he played in all the post season games and if I remember it correctly, that was one of seasons we went to a SB.
Does Ryan Fitzpatrick remind anyone else of the Brooklyn Brawler? He's going to give you a bit of a show, but you know at the end, he's going to lose.
