I'd like to go back to the start of the season and count how many times Mitch has ran out of the pocket towards the sideline under pressure and then just stepped out of bounds taking a sack. It's like he doesn't know you can throw it away.

Compare that with some of the plays Mahomes made last night when it looked like nothing was there.

 

A perfect example of addition by subtraction.

Yeah, he shit the bed no doubt, but in his defense, on that one throw, Mitch was under pressure because of Leno who was out there square dancing a do-si-do yet again and Mitch had to rush that throw.

I can’t believe the excuse making going on for Trubisky on social media these days. The only way he starts next season should be due to injury. If offense still struggles with new QB clean house.

 

I sat in the 8th row midfield to watch that. There were lots of issues. First off, Leonard Floyd can’t be a starter next year. I watched him get tossed around like a child all night.

If that guy weighs 220 I would be shocked. Wims and Patterson are both significantly larger than him. Wideouts. Think about that.

I know I’m going to get crushed for saying this, but we could do worse than Trubisky. It’s a fact.

Does he miss easy passes? Yep. Do other middle tier QB’s do the same? Yep.

Who would you rather have besides Trubisky, that would be available?

And don’t give me rag-arm, flavor of the fucking week, guy that nobody was talking about until Brees went down Teddy Bridgewater. That’s beneath this board’s football acumen.

I don't see him changing , he's to smart for that in his mind . He's screwed it up since pre season so what makes him change now when he's had 15 chances to adjust ? Mitch isn't going anywhere , as long as they keep trying to put a square box in a round hole it will nevvveeerrrrrrrr work out . At worst they need to draft a QB with one of their first 2 second round picks , which sucks cause they got exposed this year and need other positions upgraded .

 

It's going to take more than play calling to fix this offense. Yes, the play-calling has been brutal, but the offensive line has failed more often than it should.
It only takes one missed assignment to blow up any play call no matter how good the call, and that seems to happen nearly on every drive. It's one thing to get out skilled on the line but it's quite another to get out schemed consistently.
As for Mitch, he seems to take too long to process his throws and that split second lost means more contested throws. He doesn't seem to throw to a spot he seems to always throw to a guy. It's quite possible that's a trust/confidence thing with his receivers, but who knows.

Do they do it as much. No. That is why Mitch isn’t middle tier he is bottom tier.

The fact that you think nobody is talking about Teddy Bridgewater as a viable starting QB for a team next season says a lot about your football acumen.

I wouldn’t be against Dalton, Alex Smith or Keemun coming in for a competition.

As for Nagy changing the play calling to maximize Trubisky’s strengths. What are those strengths? What has he done well this season that makes you think, with the right play calls, Mitch will evolve into a capable starter?

The run game needs to be fixed. Nagy needs to bring in a running game coordinator. IMO that’s not enough to change Trubisky’s trajectory.

I don’t know. But he’s a backup for a reason. And wasn’t very good before he suffered a devastating knee injury.

 

He is a UFA. If Brees retires the most likely tag him and work out a deal. If Brees keeps going I can’t see you guys shelling out the $$ he will be offered by other teams.

Mitch knows the offense--to an extent. His ability to execute and see wide open guys beyond a first read is another story.

Why do some bears fans think 35 year old Alex Smith, who A--signed a 4 year, 94 million deal (with over 75% or 72 mil of the money guaranteed) just before the 2018 season and B--just had his 17th surgery after his initial surgery (18 total) in mid-October because of bacterial infections and incorrections to his major injury for his leg--will somehow be available? The dude probably isn't going to play again, and has zero timetable before he can begin physical activity again.

While many, MANY of us don't trust Mitch, he's still going into the 4th year of his rookie deal. He's not going to get cut or go anywhere short of committing a heinous domestic violence situation. That's the only way he won't be a bear in 2020. He's 1 of your 2/3 QBs, like it or not. They can do worse opening day 2020 than Mitch, but we basically are entrusting Blake Bortles.

I agree with Bearman in regard to Bridgewater. 5 game sample size in New Orleans' offense isn't enough for me to drop a lot of $, as between him, Dalton, Matt Moore, Case Keenum, and Ryan Tannehill--he will get paid the most. Minnesota discarded him. He's on the saints as a back up for a reason, and if you jab his "football acumen" because your consideration of Bridgewater's 5 game sample size is enough to convince you, I present exhibit A--Chase Daniel against an unprepared Minnesota team week 4 or 5 or whenever they played--where Minny looked lost against a guy they didn't plan for before teams that did plan for him making him look like a guy. Seattle was an impressive victory, but Dallas, the Bears, the Jags, the Rams (where he got shellacked), and the Bucs? That's the feather in the cap? To each their own, but I am not convinced from that.

I want another drafted QB regardless. Hell the 'draft a QB every year' should be what the bears are doing until they have one. Very content with a potential 2nd round option of Jalen Hurts, Jacob Eason, or Jordan Love. Things will change because Tua is injured, Burrow will probably be the #1 QB, Fromm and Herbert the 2nd/3rd.

If you're going to sign one? I don't have a preference, but logic dictates being on the lookout for Mariota if he's cut by Tennessee or Matt Moore, who looked just fine in Andy Reid's system in KC when Mahomes was out.

Don't count out Nick Foles, paid 22 of his 50 mil guaranteed $ in Jacksonville--who is supposedly tearing down the team and starting from scratch after Tom Coughlin's stupid reign. If Jacksonville sells him low, 22 mil per year for Nick Foles for at least 1 year isn't as bad as 25+ for 3+ years of Bridgewater. And the dude runs the system, and basically has 1 year of guaranteed money before he can be cut and let go.

I apologize for not being as up to date on Alex Smith as you are. I had heard some radio guys talking about his possible availability. So I would assume if he was actually an option he would have a clean bill of health and would come on the cheap. Let’s scratch his name from the list before you blow a blood vessel.
