Mahomes is so in sync with his offense he can throw to a spot and know his guy will get there Trubisky forgets where he is sometimes
This game isn’t just an example of where Bears fucked up drafting a QB it’s a display of just how bad their offense is compared to a team that runs a similar playbook efficiently and at a high level
Girlfriend's family had a Christmas thing - so had to miss the game. I couldn't have imagined a reality in which it would be remotely competitive, or pleasant to watch, though... Our season ended last week, as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah I set up my antennae to watch this live but couldn’t be bothered to log in here to comment. The game basically showed the *massive* divide between this team and a contender. Mahomes doesn’t just have the arm, he was chucking balls up for grabs to spots where his guys could run and ours couldn’t. It’s amazing to see in this highlight “Mahomes vs Trubisky” game just how much difference there is between the two. Captain Bright Lights was just as ineffective as ever. The plus side here is there’s only one more game. After which we can look at the cap and minimal draft picks and figure out what the hell this team can do to fix the offense. I give the defense a bit of a break because it’s relatively decimated. We need depth but the larger problem is. As usual, offense. And I’m most worried about Nagy. I think it’s clear he’s got the locker room, but as a play caller he does some super questionable things. The positive? Patterson is a baller. One bright spot on a guy that doesn’t quit.
Turned it off after Mack’s sack in KC’s opening drive. Smart I did. The sign? ‘Coulda had Mahomes,’ should be on Pace’s wall all offseason, nay—tattoo’d on his fucking forehead. All because he fell in love with Mitch, couldn’t find 2 fucking hours to talk to DeShaun Watson, and Patrick Mahomes being an ‘erratic gunslinger’ compared too much to Jay Cutler results in the move where the team’s ability to face not 4th place schedules results in what we saw this year. That’s the sad reality of this franchise’s futility. They believe in ghosts and ignore tangible evidence right in front of their faces, but know how to find a diamond from nothing now and again. They’re just good enough to be the court jesters. On AM670 3 minutes ago, Brad Biggs quoted an NFL exec: “if Mitch Trubisky is the bears starter on opening day in 2020, they will have done the NFC North a favor.” Nothing more needs to be said except “sell the fucking team.” Merry Christmas and happy new year/happy holidays peeps. This will be an ugly Chicago winter for sports. Will check back with y'all around the draft/free agency for more masochism.
QB wasn’t the only difference between these two teams. Offensive weapons, offensive line, pass rushing, play calling, discipline, game planning, heart, toughness, and chemistry all showed up as a disparity to me too. This Bears team is just another run of the mill team that we’ve seen too many times over the years. Too far from the teams that can call themselves contenders to be considered a serious threat. Pressure is on Pace this offseason and I think the job he has is too big for him and the ownership he reports to. My guess is after the Bears fail to make the playoffs yet again next season....Nagy and Pace will be dismissed and the Bears will bring in a “special consultant” to help them find a new GM and Head Coach and we will restart again only to probably get the same results. The circle of stupidity and futility will continue to turn for what should be one of the best franchises in sports and is instead one of the most embarrassing.
Really the perfect team by which to judge yourself and see where Pace & Nagy are with this team because of the Offensive similarities. And the answer? Miles off. The outcome didn't feel undecided at any point. That game was managed so efficiently by the Chiefs, so bottom line orientated, that it could've been the Patriots. The Bears were flattered by that scoreboard. - It was nice to see Mack have a good game. He didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but he was far more effective. Given how much he's game planned for, you kinda accept those numbers and look to your other guys to take advantage of the opportunities, which the didn't. Floyd in particular. - Speaking of Floyd, 3 tackles, 0 sacks, hits, hurries or TFL's. That was his evening. 3 sacks in 15 games of continual 1on1 opportunities this year. 18.5sacks in 4 seasons. The "he plays the run well" chat can fuck right off. A top10 overall selection who is meant to be a pass rush specialist and those are his numbers. And he cost 2 draft picks(of course). Floyd has been a flat out bust, anything else is just excuse-making. Paying him the 5th year option would be obscene. Extending him at any more than $3-3.5mil per would be obscene. One of those will happen though, watch Pace do it. - There's a strong case for making Kevin Pierre-Louis a starter next year. He's played well these last few games. And if he's a starter it'll get his stupid ass off ST so he can't keep running into the punter. - Javon Wims had a terrible game. 3catches off 9targets, 2 drops that hit him in the hands, 1 incompletion where he had no idea where the ball was, another where his timing was all wrong and he turned his head too late. He's getting an opportunity with injuries but that was a display that says I shouldn't be out here. - Matt Nagy is mentally deficient. As well as the usual dumb playcalls, there was the challenge on a forward pass, and I particularly liked going for it on 4th & 23 and throwing it 5yards downfield. Guy has no idea what he's doing. Extra: Loved the part in the 4thQ when Collinsworth & Michaels are talking about the 2 Offensive rosters and where ARob would rank if he were on the Chiefs, coming to the fascinating conclusion he'd be a number 3 and is in the same tier as Sammy Watkins & Demarcus Robinson ha! Yeah Watkins is a career underachiever who ranks T-58th in the league for receptions this season. Robinson is T-132nd. ARob is 8th in the entire league. Demarcus Robinson has less catches his entire 4year career than ARob has this season. Collinsworth you total fucking brain donor.
Yep. Its why I really hope they don't go high for a QB this draft, even tho Trubisky has been a failure. Pace doesn't come close to deserving it, and as crushing as it is to probably waste yet another great Defense the truth is -if we're lucky- they will pull the plug on Pace & Nagy a year from now and start over. That's when you go high on QB.
I'm not sorry that I missed it. I'm not sorry that I got a little drunk last night and didn't check the score more than 5 times. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.
Pace got extended at the start of this season. I have zero faith that he'll be fired this year or next year. Yes, that is incredibly depressing. Yes, he deserves to be fired. No, I don't think that will happen. Yes, I think he'll get the chance to pick another QB - potentially his first non-disaster QB in his tenure.
