If Tampa beats Houston it doesn't matter what Tennessee does against New Orleans. The Titans have to beat the Texans to win that division. If that happens and Tampa had beaten the Texans a 9-7 Titans win the division if they sweep Houston.
should be a fun 2 weeks left with 4 teams needing a playoff spot.... as bad as the NFC EAST is, South Philly will be rocking on Sunday for the Cowboys game. One of the best rivalries in the NFL-bad teams or not.
sadly Axe as you know that's the damn norm down there. when i moved to South Philly, it was a rainy Sunday and the Eagles were playing the Cowboys at night. It was dry in the morning when i brought down my bed, 2 dressers and other stuff. people were tailgating at 10 am and this was in 2000. that's a long day of boozing. i came back down at night time like at 9 pm and it was pouring rain and i guess people didn't have tickets, so they were outside. i couldn't believe it. nothing is worth being in the rain for all day or drinking at 10 am for a 8 pm game. sorry. once i lived down there for 13 yrs i would walk to the linc parking lot at 9:30 for my brother's friends tailgate. i would eat and drink and go home and watch the game or take a nap after the game. i wasn't driving anywhere. people were there all damn day for a 1, 4 or 8 pm game and then drive home. crazy.
Saints sign D.J. Swearinger The Saints have added their second defensive back of the week. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins was the first to arrive in New Orleans when the Saints claimed him off of waivers on Monday. Jenkins was joined on the roster by safety D.J. Swearinger on Wednesday. According to multiple reports, the Saints have signed Swearinger and waived safety T.J. Green. Green was promoted to the active roster ahead of Monday’s win over the Colts. Swearinger opened the season with the Cardinals, but got released despite starting and playing every snap in the first four games of the year. He signed with the Raiders in November and got cut last week. He made 48 tackles in eight overall appearances with the two teams. source; PFT
Jacksonville Jaguars fire Tom Coughlin. I said it when they hired him - he would set the franchise back years, just when they were finally getting it right. Lo and behold, he has royally f***ed them from the moment he got there. And now they'll have to spend a few years triaging the damage. It's a serious shame - they were getting fun. Here's to a quick recovery, and never having to see or hear Coughlin again.
Some of the things that came to light through the NFLPA paint Coughlin as a psychotic megalomaniac. Fines levied for meetings that weren't mandatory is ridiculous. I'm know there's more but just that alone reveals a kind of atmosphere that is just demoralizing for players and people in general. I'm all for keeping guys in line but I think he became extremely unbalanced in the way he ran things. Too bad because, as you say, something was starting to happen for that team.
Steelers safety Kameron Kelly was arrested early this morning in Pittsburgh. According to court documents posted online by multiple members of the Pittsburgh media, Kelly is facing two misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and one misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. Kelly refused to leave a bar and then had a struggle with police, according to Liz Kilmer of WPXI. The 23-year-old Kelly was seen as one of the success stories of the Alliance of American Football, playing well enough for the San Diego Fleet while getting some time both at wide receiver and at cornerback that the Steelers picked him up. He has played in all 14 games for the Steelers this season, and a highlight of his season was intercepting Lamar Jackson when the Steelers played the Ravens.
Seahawks DT Al Woods suspended four games for PEDs Seattle is losing an important piece of its defensive front for the stretch run. Defensive tackle Al Woods has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the situation. The team confirmed the suspension and announced it would begin immediately and will include the final two games of the regular season and any playoff games. "There's not much we can say about it," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday. "He's been a great kid in our program." The 32-year-old Woods started five games for the Seahawks in 2019, filling a massive void left behind by the six-game suspension of usual starter Jarran Reed, who was banned for a violation of the league's personal conduct policy. Woods has recorded 32 tackles and one sack while filling an important role early in the season for the Seahawks, who got off to a 5-2 start in Reed's absence. Woods has since filled a rotational role, helping eat up space and take on multiple blockers for the league's 15th-ranked rushing defense. Seattle signed rookie defensive tackle Brian Mone off the practice squad as a corresponding roster move, but the Seahawks will have to rely more on the efforts of starting nose tackle Poona Ford and reserve Quinton Jefferson in the final two weeks of the season, plus however many games they'll be fortunate enough to play in the postseason.
