But Williams never threw for 280+ yards and 3 TD by the middle of the third quarter.

    In your face, gid !!!

    NAN NOO, NAN NOO !!!!

Brees has the all-time TD record but Brady has the record I like more, the SB wins and appearances.

    Can't argue with that.

But, give me a break. Let me have my moment.

I'm very happy for Brees. He's one of the good ones both on and off the field.

Amazing how quick browns fans have turned on mayfield and kitchens. If fredddie is fired who honestly would want to come coach there? The messege that would be sent jntentional or not would be win in your first season or your out.

I think a large part of the angst towards Kitchens comes from the huge let down this season after the huge preseason hype and hopes. Browns fans want to win and really had their hopes up. Kitchens has a process of a learning curve to mature in also. This current season, though, has been super deflating for all the fans and the Browns included, so Kitchens is the scapegoat at the current time and, in my opinion, is deserving of a lot of the criticism too, but still needs a shot at another season to determine if he can cut the mustard or not.

The all-time greats wernt great over-night and Kitchens should be given a bit more time and another chance next season to see just what he can do and that's just a gut feeling on my part.

With Haslem in charge its unpredictable what might happen and this coming off-season will bring a lot to the table to talk about with the Browns situation.

I would hire Brian Shottenheimer because he runs a run first offense in Seattle and the Browns obviously have the best set of RBs in a long time in this league

It's hard if not impossible to shake first impression bias. The first time I saw Kitchens, I thought he was immediately trying to be a mix of Belichick and Tomlin despite not accomplishing anything either of them has done. That's a recipe for failure, and surely players can pick up on that.

Also it can't be discounted that sometimes coaches are much better suited for a different position. I always go back to Jim Caldwell on this one who just kind of fell into and failed upwards. Caldwell was an excellent QB coach but a bad offensive coordinator and head coach. I realize wanting to spread your wings, but sometimes being self aware of where you excel is a good thing. It's why Dick Lebeau never went back to being a head coach and stayed defensive coordinator.

I can't understand how someone that is Payton Mannings OC would be a hot head coaching candidate when everyone knows Manning ran that offense and the previous offensive coordinator and Manning put together that offense.

Pretty much anyone - coaches are ego-driven. Plus it's not like the Browns are devoid of talent.

They need an OC that likes to run the ball to be there next HC

Amazing to you, perhaps. Steelers fans, in general, were born with silver spoons in their mouths. The Steelers have been uber-competative since 1970 with 6 Lombardi trophys to show for it. Even then, in the rare years the Steelers miss the playoffs, Steeler fans across the internet forums are calling for Tomlin's head.

Browns fans, on the other hand, have had two (2) non-losing seasons and one playoff appearance so far this century. We've been the running joke of the NFL for 20 years. I think we've earned the right to break out the pitchforks, tar and feathers. Management manages, coaches coach, players play and fans bitch.

Didn't realize it was a joke. Tough to give Philly fans the benefit of the doubt in those situations.

Its funny that you think just because im a Steelers fan that I would not understand the pain of Browns fans. I like many Steelers fans am also a Pirates fan. Even the browns cannot lay claim to 20 consecutive loosing seasons. So yes I have a silver spoon when it comes to the Steelers but I also understand the frustration of a franchise that has failed repeatedly. If derek shelton doesnt do well next season I will not be callong for his head after one season.

Now that being said i was one of many here who said the Browns were making a mistake in hiring kitchens. I think they paniked and thought if they hired Greg Williams that another team would swoop in and steal Kitchens. Perhapse he will improve if given the chance or maybe it turns out he is Norv Turner/Wade Phillips you know a better cordinator than HC. I just think its silly to fire a coach after 1 season.

I still think there will be plenty of guys who would skip the browns becuse if you dont win in 1.5 sesons you are gone. Sure they might get another chance if they fail but there is a good chance they may not with the way the nfl rolls anymore.

I'm sure if a coordinator who was a trendy pick had a few jobs to chose from then, maybe, the Browns would fall to the bottom of the list. Still, the Browns have talent. Their skill position players are really a selling point IMO. Any team that needs a new coach is probably a bit of a dumpster fire anyway so you take what you can get and HC money is a huge jump over coordinator money and is likely guaranteed.

Plus, tbe ego of these guys is a factor. "Hey, I can fix the Browns when no one else can". That's a big motivator.

It's the ego of the coaches that push them to believe that they're the guy who WON'T be a 1.5-year and done.

well you don't remember your Eagles-Cowboys History either. 1989. Huge snowstorm hits Philly. No where to take the snow out of the Vet. Snowballs came flying early and often. Ref got hit by a chunk of ice. Eagles banned beer sales at the Vet for years after that.

And there's no snow in Philly this weekend, so it was a reference to the old Santa Claus story and the 1989 game. Ugly yes, joking, yes.

I remember PLENTY of Eagles-Cowboys history, Cat. I'm on the other side of that coin, remember?

The '89 game at the Vet was the follow-up to the "Bounty Bowl" game, where the Iggles put a bounty on Luis Zendejas. The game at the Vet featured snowballs everywhere - at refs, at Cowboys players, Eagles players got hiyt with flying debris, and Jimmy Johnson had to be escorted off the field by cops. Mayor "Fast" Eddie Rendell admitted he took part in the snowball throwing.

Do I have it about right...?
