This team is not good when more is made of the game than needs to be. See the 100th anniversary kickoff game. This needs to be a business trip. Take care of business and stay alive for another week.
Last year they stepped up in big regular season games against Rams, Vikings, Packers #2. They are capable of winning a hyped up game.
Bull-fuckin’-shït. See a QB, and an entire offense for that matter, that wasn’t ready to play football because their coach decided that practice reps in a red pinny were just as valuable as 5 quarters of preseason football. See a stubborn-assed play caller and head coach that refused to change the game plan regardless of what the defense was giving him. See a stellar defensive effort against a HOF quarterback completely wasted for the above reasons. 100th anniversary game my ass. That game was winnable and should have been won. That centennial bullshit had nothing to do with the outcome.
What the hell does any of this stuff have to do with what I said. Was the season opener the most hyped game the Bears have played in since their last Super Bowl appearance? Yes Did they play well? No. When have they played their best this season? The past 3 weeks when their playoff hopes were all but destroyed. With a fuck it what have we got to lose attitude. And now you want them treat this game like he we fucked up this year but if we just beat the Packers it’s all good? That is BS. To the fans it might feel good but to the team they need 3 more wins not just to beat the Packers.
You've returned to trolling because you can't possibly believe this. Or maybe you really are that dense. The season opener was not more hyped up than our playoff game last year, than the NFC Championship in 2010, and I would argue any more hyped up than our game to clinch the division last year... to name a few.
I am not trolling. I didn’t mean to be so controversial with my comment. I wasn’t going for an argument. I don’t live in Chicago so when I look at hype for a game I look at the national media. Is the rest of the world building up this game or even paying attention to it. When it comes to real hype the Bears vs Packers to open the 100th anniversary season for both the NFL and the Bears was as close as it gets to a Super Bowl hype machine. They had a fucking convention for Christ sakes. Your trying to redefine the meaning of the word Hype. Now playoff games and games you need to win in order to keep your playoff hopes alive are more important than a season opener. No doubt, but that’s not what you said. You said the Bears should be treating this game like their Super Bowl because they aren’t making the playoffs anyway. Why? What does overvaluing this game do? If they beat the Packers nothing happens. Nobody wins anything. The Packers will still be in the drivers seat for the division. We will still need 2 more wins and help to make the playoffs. Getting back to my point. The 2 biggest games this team has played in from a national media’s attention stand point were the playoff game last year and the first game this year and they lost both. I’d rather not hype this game up like those. If we play the Vikings with a win and we are in scenario it will be a huge national attention game. Hopefully we play better the. The 2 previous.
No I'm not. I 100% agree with your definition of the word and you're still 100% wrong about the week 1 game. What's the point of placing importance on any game? I get that nothing happens if we win. Obviously. Their job is to win football games. Divisional opponents are always the most important games on the schedule, maybe you don't think so but most fans do. And when it comes to a tiebreaking scenario, divisional record is enormously important. I shouldn't have to explain this to you but (aside from being our biggest rival) the Packers have been a massive barrier to our success since our Super Bowl appearance. Our struggles against them our incomparable to any other team we've faced. And our inability to beat them, even at a 25% rate since Rodgers came on, has cost us playoff appearances in 2012, 2013, a Super Bowl appearance in 2010, first round bye last year, not to mention the countless times we've been humiliated and raped by them in seasons where we had no chance at the playoffs. We're not going to be consistent winning team until we can consistently beat the Packers. It's a fact of life. This game is hugely important to restore some pride in the rivalry and to ensure that the players have confidence against Erin and playing in Lambeau going forward. And the players should treat it as such. If they do, they might surprise us all and come out with an unexpected win.
I just fuckin’ explained what it has to do with it. They lost for OTHER, very specific reasons besides “not playing well in games that are hyped up” or whatever crap generalities you were serving up. Did “they” play well? As a matter of fact, the defense played fucking awesome, and if you told me they’d hold Rodgers to 10 points and still lose, I’d say you were insane. But that did happen - for reasons I stated above - and not because “they” don’t do well in “overhyped games”. And now they’re playing well because Trubisky is gaining confidence and using his legs, the running game is working, and Nagy is starting to call better games. It’s not because they have a “fuck it attitude”. Come on man, that’s some unsound, mindless crap a CCS fan would come up with.
Trubisky has shit the bed in some big games. But he's also had some big moments too. No. How about the NFC title game against the Packers?
Then You live in a bubble. Who said divisional games weren’t important? There is a difference between acknowledging the importance of a game and declaring it the be all end all. Like nothing else matters. Like it’s the Super Bowl. Just my opinion but if the Bears are ever going to be able to change this course. Putting all this shit on every game that they play isn’t going to help. The Bears need bigger goals than beating the Packers. They should be a speed bump not an obstacle course. Your venting your own frustrations here. The Bears need to win this game to give them confidence for games in the future? GTFOH. How about you play well enough that you have the confidence to beat anyone. I get it. Your one of those who cares if we suck just beat the Packers guys. Sorry I don’t share your point of view. The Bears need to beat the Packers this week. Then they need to beat the Chiefs and the Vikings. They need to pull off the miracle or this season was a failure. Just beating the Packers won’t change that.
Yeah, right. I'd be happy if we went 2-14 every year as long as we beat the Packers. To quote you: GTFOH. If this series wasn't so one sided in the last several years I wouldn't be placing the level of importance on the game that I am. I've already accepted that the 2019 season is a failure. May as well try to do something positive at the end of the season and beat a team we need to beat if we are ever going to be a legit contender.
Never said that the only reason they lost was because of how big the spotlight was just felt it played a roll. Especially with the QB and HC. Defenses played well but the offense was horrific. A train wreck. IMO there was some crumbling under the pressure there. I don’t see why that’s such a crazy thought.
It sucks that you lost to the Rams because that H2H result sucks but it's crazy that you have a scenario where you can get in if the Buccaneers win out since the Bears own the 3-way tie. And the Bucs have looked good recently and have a decent schedule.
