I'll be sure to clear all future comments with you before I post them. And even then . . . You'll take issue with them. In the meantime: New rule for Browns fans . . . Cease and desist from getting publically excited for your team and expressing your excitement on the Browns board. But, if you forget, don't worry. Beach will always be trolling and correct you.
Aye-aye, boss. New hashtags: #We'reOK #Here4TheHugz #8-8Maybe7-9OK6-10ButSomeQualityPlay #MaybeNextYear
Since I know I said 6 of 10, let me address for you... *Baker Mayfield a perennial Top 5 QB -- He finished 2018 as a Top 5 (#4, technically) quarterback after the change to Kitchens. As a rookie. As a first overall pick. I won't apologize for seeing the talent and the proven production at the NFL level. He'll get back there in 2020. *Browns Super Bowl Champs -- Fifth best odds, per Vegas. Seems a lot of folks were thinking it. *Most talented roster in the NFL -- Still true and it's a scathing indictment of the coaches that they're looking at 9-7 or 8-8. *Best o-line in the NFL -- Not a direct quote of mine and honestly, not sure where you've heard it. Most people were pretty down on the offensive line to start the season. I was one of the more positive folks on the line and I did say the Browns offensive line wasn't going to be as big a concern as a lot of others thought. That may have been well-wishing. That said, they still have the best guard (Bitonio), best center (Tretter) and a very capable tackle (Robinson). Hubbard regressed mightily this season and they could never fill Zeitler's shoes at guard. *Greedy Williams have to be the Rookie of the Year -- I see you're pulling quotes from the "Bold Predictions" board. To @Lyman's point... sorry our fans aren't -- in a thread dedicated to pushing boundaries -- thinking extremely small: "I'll just be happy if he improves his tackling and finishes ranked in the top 50 of cornerbacks." *Nick Chubb MVP candidate -- still is. Dude's the best pure running back, second best overall back (behind McCaffrey) in the NFL and is doing that with a poor offensive gameplan and being under-utilized. It's a QB-centric league so Wilson or Jackson will get it, but Chubb is a special talent and I can tell this is coming out of a position of jealousy. *13-3 -- All me. Won't apologize. I said heading into the season that as long as Baker's my QB, I'm going with a "Baker's Dozen" in the win column. Guess what I'm going to predict next season... yup, 13-3. *Best offense since the 2007 Patriots -- Not mine, but see above on talent points. *JC Tretter the best center in the NFL -- Fact. Three penalties, 4.5 sacks allowed in 44 games - never missed a snap. *The Steelers wallowing in mediocrity for the next 10 years? -- I mean, for the next 10-15 years it'll be Baker versus Jackson in the North. Y'all have to draft a new QB to replace Ben because the Duck caller ain't it and Mason "Dixon Line" Rudolph is probably one-and-done. I guess maybe you don't think that's mediocrity, but I'd call slugging it out with the Bengals for AFCN basement pretty mediocre (I've got the receipts from the last 20 seasons to prove that).
Browns with the fourth-best mark, despite a carousel at right guard and inconsistency at left tackle (ejections, health).
Fuck you Lym. This conversation started because you were crying about having to eat some crow after all the shit you guys talked for the last 9 months. And it was fucking mild compared to what I've read for the last 9 months. Grow a pair.
Once the Steelers trade for this guy then that talk of mediocrity will become talk of "total Steeler's dominance"
So you admit you got your panties in a wad because some Browns fans got excited about some roster additions over the past two years? You know full well that I didn't share that excitement. But I will defend their right to be excited until I take my final breath on this rock. Buh, Bye.
Genuine question here, pal... are you okay? The level of hostility and animosity out of you the past few weeks is noticeable.
That is a credit to you Lyman. You were very cautious about saying big things about the Browns. Beach shouldn't be picking a fight with you about it because it wasn't you who said any of it.
As a Ravens fan who's been reading all AFC North threads on this site (minus Bengals because......well, are there Bengals fans?), I will say I don't recall Lyman being on of the ones going too crazy in the offseason about Browns dominance and Steelers fall from grace. If anything, I think Lyman predicted more doom for the Ravens than the Steelers. There were definitely over the top statements made, a ton from SAS. Browns fans had a reason to be excited though, and the media definitely fueled up that hype train along with some fans.
I did. And, since then, I have publicly admitted I was wrong on at least two occasions over on the Ravens' board. I said I doubted Lamar Jackson could stay upright for 16 games (he has), that NFL defenses would figure him out (they haven't) and that the Ravens' D would digress due to free agency losses (they didn't).
Also true and why you've consistently had my respect. Lyman made most of these comments on the Browns board, but came over the the Ravens board to admit he was wrong. That receives the utmost respect from me. Now I'm just waiting to hear from one of his fellow posters who found it very comical to put Lamar in the MVP race.........
Lamar has wowed me. The only thing that will stop him seems to be injury. The Steelers surprised me by keeping Lamar in check week 5. 70 yards rushing 161 yards passing 1 TD 3 INTs 5 sacks of Lamar 277 total yards for the Ravens One very bad roughing the passer call away from handing the Ravens their third loss.
No doubt. According to him he's never talked shit to a Browns fan on these threads in 20 years. (JFTR "beachbum"- when you have to preface your post by saying, "I'm not trolling", that makes you the definition of troll.) Why don't you go crop some more quotes and then take them completely out of context and act superior....That's your thing.
No, you guys were entitled to your optimism and I was excited for you. I read all the off-season stuff and mostly chuckled because 1) I know SAS likes to make over-the-top statements and in reality has more reasonable expectations and 2) I thought our team was going to be better this year and it would show. What got my "panties in a wad" was how you reacted when Steelers fans showed up here after our victory and served a little crow because it was 1) very mild and 2) well deserved after the way some of you reacted to the Browns victory a few weeks ago. Were you personally guilty of any of the over-the-top projections or celebration? For the most part no but you are the one that went after all the Steelers posters for coming over and serving the crow which is how we ended up in this conversation. You could have easily eaten the crow and let it take it's course. After a few days it would have ended. You chose to criticize, I chose to respond. Moving on... To everyone else... 1) I never said Lym was the one with all the over-the-top expectations so not sure why you all felt the need to point that out... and 2) Lym and I have been friends for 10 years and every now and then we are going to FU each other. Get over it. To TD... You're ridiculous behavior is only over-shadowed by your lack of football acumen. But I shouldn't have let you get under my skin and then take it out on Lym or any other of the Browns' posters. They have my apologies. I'll respond to you directly in the future.
