So you would rank Memphis, Boise State and Appalacian State ahead of Alabama? Those are all 1 loss teams.

Jesus Christ Lyman of course not. I'm talking Minnesota and Penn St. And who does Utah play to be ranked 4th? Auburn has 3 losses and is ranked 12th? That's what I'm talking about.

There are only 8 teams left with a record of 11-1 or better. So, at least 2 teams with 2 losses will end up in the top 10. You pointed out that Alabama lost twice and even said, "sorry, Nick". Therefore it was reasonable for me to conclude you don't think Alabama belongs in the top 10.

And, OBTW, Utah plays in a tougher conference than Clemson. So, your point is?

    They do.

Don't worry Catfish. Utah can't make the playoffs if Georgia beats LSU.

The NCAA coaching carousel has just handed us our first real surprise of the season.

The Washington Huskies announced that head coach Chris Petersen will step down following the team’s bowl game. Defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake will take over as head coach, and Petersen will assume an advisory role with the program.

“I’ll be a Husky for life, but now is the right time for me to step away from my head coaching duties, and recharge,” Petersen said in the statement announcing the move.

Petersen made his name going 92-12 at Boise State before jumping to Washington, where he went 54-26 and made them nationally relevant. He posted three 10-win seasons, reaching the College Football Playoff in 2016. Petersen’s move comes on the heels of a rather underwhelming campaign that saw the team go 7-5 after being ranked No. 13 in the preseason AP poll.

Petersen is still only 55, which is young in coaching terms. That, and the fact that he mentioned a desire to “recharge” in announcing the move, suggests he could be coaching again sooner rather than later.

Look at these scores, Cat. Not only winners, but destroyed the competition.

Utah can certainly make the playoffs if Wisconsin beats Ohio State -or- Virginia beats Clemson.

But . . . They would first have to beat Oregon in the PAC 12 Championship Game this Friday.

Honestly, Alabama has done jack shit. I personally do have Memphis above them. They have beaten a bunch of solid teams that are ranked, albeit near the bottom. Alabama's best wins are 7-5 Texas A&M and 7-5 Southern Miss. Oregon is in the same boat but with worse losses. EVERY single 2-loss team I have in front has done more as well. So much better that "they are still good, they are Bama" can't be put into consideration if you actually care about results. Auburn has 3 losses but (even ignoring it is H2H) the wins vs Alabama and Oregon are infinitely better than what those 2 teams have done. Boise only beat Air Force and lost to BYU. With the rest of the schedule I can't see them jumping above Alabama (or Oregon) yet. I personally only went to top 20 but for the next 5 they'd probably be, in no particular order, Virginia, Cincinnati, USC, Kansas State and Appalachian State.

    My Top 20
    1. Ohio State
    2. LSU
    3. Clemson
    4. Georgia
    5. Oklahoma
    6. Utah
    7. Wisconsin
    8. Penn State
    9. Notre Dame
    10. Memphis
    11. Baylor
    12. Florida
    13. Minnesota
    14. Auburn
    15. Alabama
    16. Oregon
    17. Boise State
    18. Michigan
    19. Iowa
    20. Navy
