Calgary Flames coach Bill Peters under investigation from the NHL and Flames for past racist comments and abuse towards his players.

 

I’m not defending Peters. If he is a racist then he’ll get what’s coming to him.

I do, however, find it odd that these (alleged) comments were made in 2012 or earlier when he was the HC of the Rockford Icehogs in the AHL. What’s odd is that this is the FIRST anyone has heard of these allegations. The player was of sufficient prospect-rating to have had a voice in the media and with the FO. This was 2012 in Illinois and not 1962 in some part of the country that accepted racism as the norm. The situation is odd and I hope we are provided a transparent vetting of the facts.

 

It was in 2009 and they have Jake Dowell as a witness, also Michal Jordan says he was punched and kicked, (sounds like a bad guy).

That's a tough one to survive, as nhl and bettman put brand first.

When Peters announced that he had apologized back in 2009, HE verified that he had done something wrong. I think he’s cooked.

That said, we’re dealing with different matters: physical, and verbal abuse, and racism. I think Burke’s take is correct. For events from 2009, the statute of limitations has expired for physical and verbal abuse. However, there is no statute of limitations for racism.

Expect silence on this until after the league meets with both the player and the coach. They’ll be able to corroborate Peters’ infraction. If he used the clear and unambiguously racist term as alleged, then he is likely done forever with organized hockey.

 

The inevitable has happened: Bill Peters is finished as the HC of the Calgary Flames. When he apologized you knew he was done.

The question is will be get paid by the Flames, or can they fire him with-cause. That's a tricky question, and will not be easily resolved. The Flames may pay Peters just to allow this story to fade into history as quickly as possible.

 

This is a tough one and could end up being an undisclosed settlement.

 

Here's the latest, Sean Avery claims that Marc Crawford kicked him while he was on the bench in 2006.

 

Avery with the Kings takes a too many men on the ice penalty against the Preds. The Preds are already winning 5-0 and they score on their PP to make it 6-0.
Crawford goes to the end of the bench where Avery is sitting and hoofs him from behind leaving a mark.

but it was because avery sent the puck in practice the wrong way and it almost hit crawford in the head. crawford wasn't happy and kicked him during a game.

Mike Babcock verbally assaulted Johan Franzen so excessively that he drove him to the point of having a nervous breakdown. Franzen was already suffering from concussion symptoms, also anxiety and post-traumatic stress syndrome.

 

Lets just hank Babcock from the gallows pole.... apparently he has abused everybody south of the north.

 

Babs is trash
