An Ohio State win today in "The Shoe" against Penn State clinches the Big 10 East for the Buckeyes and a trip to Indianapolis for the Big 10 Championship game against either Minnesota or Wisconsin. Ohio State would finish the day at 8-0 (conference record) and Penn State and Michigan (assuming they beat Indiana) would sit at 6-2 with only 1 game left to play. A Penn State win makes it a three team (mathematical) race with Penn State having the edge. They play Rutgers to finish conference play, while Ohio State and Michigan play next week. Penn State would then also hold the H2H tiebreaker over both Ohio State and Michigan.
Meanwhile, in the Big 10 West . . . Minnesota goes into today's game with Northwestern at 6-1. Wisconsin sits at 5-2 and plays Purdue. The Golphers and the Badgers finish up the regular season next week against each other. Assuming both teams win today (likely), the winner of next week's matchup will advance to the Big 10 championship game in Indianapolis.
Of the rest of the "Power 5" conferences: The SEC is a done deal. LSU and Georgia are already in the championship game. The Big 12 is almost a done deal. Baylor and Oklahoma are both 6-1. (Iowa State, Texas and Oklahoma State are all 4-3). If Baylor beats Texas today - Texas is eliminated. If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State next week - Oklahoma State is eliminated. Iowa State is eliminated unless both Baylor - and - Oklahoma lose both of their remaining games. In the PAC 12, Oregon is in at 7-0 in the North Division. In the South Division, Utah (6-1) controls their own destiny. Win their remaining 2 games and they're in. USC (6-2) needs to beat UCLA in their finale and Utah to lose once to force a tiebreaker. I'm not certain how the PAC12 tiebreaker is set up. In the ACC, Clemson is in. They will end up playing either Virginia, Virginia Tech or Pitt in the ACC championship game.
And clinch the Big 10 East division while, at the same time . . . They dash any hopes of the Wolverines a week earlier this year.
Throw out the W/L records . . . It's Rivalry Week ! Ohio State - Michigan Alabama - Auburn Clemson - South Carolina Virginia - Virginia Tech Wisconsin - Minnesota Florida State - Florida Oklahoma - Oklahoma State Hope your TV is in good working order and your Cable Bill is paid.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...tah-playing-their-way-into-the-new-years-six/ Penn State loses 2 games in 3 weeks and get a big 6 bowl game? wow. Is Paterno's ghost haunting the Bowl committee?
Agreed. Rutgers and Maryland don't belong in the Big 10. Get ND in there once and for all and make it 12 with Nebraska staying. As a ND fan, I could live with that. Now they would lose their long time games vs USC, Stanford and maybe Navy, so they would never join sadly. If they could have out of conference games vs Navy and USC plus the rotating Big 10 schedule, they could do it, but they won't.
