    I respectfully disagree. My point is; you don't punish the #1 and drop them in the rankings when they win by that margin and put up 73. I don't care that LSU won a shootout, that's moot, they wernt #1 and shouldn't be right now. I think its just semantics on my part, but it seems rather disrespectful and severely flaws the entire process/system.

    That's my opinion... FWIW.

    #2 beat #3 on the road, so that isn't moot and it never is in the polls. SOS is key and that win gives a ton of points towards LSU that OSU didn't earn last weekend. that road win holds a ton more value than #1 beating up on the little Sisters of the Poor!

    I respect your opinion, but . . .

    The reality of the FBS ranking at this point in the season is it's all about quality wins (or losses). There is no where in the universe where Ohio State's win over Maryland (regardless of by how much) could be considered a quality win. On the other hand, LSU's win over Alabama . . .

    Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is done for the season.

    The Alabama programs has announced, through team orthopedic surgeon Lyle Cain, that Tagovailoa has suffered a hip dislocation. He’s done for the year.

    Dr. Cain says that Tagovailoa is expected to make a full recovery. Which is good news, especially in light of the current comparisons between this injury and the one that ended the career of Bo Jackson.

    Tagovailoa currently is expected to enter the 2020 NFL draft, even though he has one year of eligibility remaining. Given the injury, however, scouts may want to see him return to full health and normal performance before putting him at the top of a given draft class. The ultimate question becomes whether he can get healthy in time to address concerns regarding his healthy before it’s time to put names on draft cards in April.

    Not much movement I suspect outside of Minnesota getting dumped in Iowa.

    Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is scheduled to have hip surgery Monday after being evaluated in Houston, team orthopedic surgeon Lyle Cain said in a statement released Sunday night.

    Tagovailoa dislocated his hip in the Crimson Tide's 38-7 win over Mississippi State on Saturday, ending his season. Sources confirmed to ESPN that he also suffered a posterior wall fracture.

    "For the past 24 hours our medical team has consulted with multiple orthopedic experts across the country, who specialize in hip injuries and surgeries. Based on that research, Tua is being flown to Houston tonight to be evaluated and is scheduled to have hip surgery Monday," Cain said.

    "As previously stated, we anticipate a full recovery. The main focus has been, and will remain, on Tua, his family, and making sure we are providing them the best medical care possible."

    Tagovailoa was injured with three minutes remaining before halftime in Saturday's game, when he was brought down by two Bulldogs defenders while rolling to his left on a third-down play. He suffered a bloody nose and couldn't put pressure on his right leg when he was helped up by athletic trainers. He was carted off of the field and eventually airlifted back to Birmingham for CAT scans and MRIs.

    The Tide were leading 35-7 at the time of the injury. Alabama coach Nick Saban told ESPN's Molly McGrath that Tagovailoa was still in the game to practice a two-minute drill and that it was to be his final drive of the game.

    The surgery will be the second this season for Tagovailoa, a Heisman Trophy contender and potential top-10 pick in next spring's NFL draft. He had surgery on his right ankle Oct. 20, a day after he was injured in the Crimson Tide's 35-13 victory over Tennessee.

    If the NCAA playoffs started today, it would feature:
    • #1 LSU vs #4 Georgia.
    • #2 Ohio State vs #3 Clemson.
    But it doesn't start today and those matchups are virtually impossible.
    • LSU and Georgia are virtual locks to win their respective divisions in the SEC which means they would then play each other in the SEC championship game - and one of those two will walk away from that game with a loss. LSU would end up 12-1, Georgia 11-2.
    • If Georgia wins, would a 12-1 LSU fall behind #5 Alabama who will probably wind up the regular season at 11-1 ?
    • If LSU wins, would 1 loss #5 Alabama get in over a 2 loss Georgia ?
    I'm thinking a 1 loss LSU would probably still get in over #5 Bama by virtue of their head to head win over the Crimson Tide. So, that 1st playoff matchup is still possible if Georgia defeats LSU in the SEC championship game.

    The second matchup has a lot more variables all of which will be answered in the next two weeks courtesy of the Big 10. Ohio States' remaining schedule;
    • 11/23 vs #9 Penn State.
    • 11/30 @ # 15 Michgan.
    Win out and Ohio State will face (probably) #8 Minnesota or (less likely) #14 Wisconsin in the Big10 championship game. That's a tall order but, if they did, it would give the Buckeyes three more "quality wins" over three ranked opponents. Pull that off and the Buckeyes could move up to #1 in the final ranking. Lose one (or both) and they're out and (most likely) Bama is back in.

    Clemson is probably in regardless. Their remaining schedule is;
    • 11/23 Off week.
    • 11/30 South Carolina
    • 12/7 ACC championship game vs either Virginia, Virginia Tech or Pitt.
    Should Clemson lose to South Carolina (it's possible), then Bama is again in the mix.

    Bottom line is, of all the teams, Alabama probably has the best chance today of getting into the playoff mix. Buckle up . . . it's going to be a fun two weeks.

    Penn State is underrated. Should be above Alabama honestly with who they beat. How are they only 1 above Florida? Well this week will solve things. PSU will jump to the top 4 (likely 3) or lose and... and fall below Florida even though they are still better on paper.

    I agree, Joe. Seems like year after year there is always something sort of controversial about these ranking things.

    Glad this game is in the Shoe... hate going to 'Happy Valley', PSU always seems to play the Buckeyes well there. The PSU OSU game is a dandy... will decide a bunch.

    Bama is happy to see Western Carolina this week! Their practice QB could beat them!

    They should have eight teams in the playoffs. The NCAA is so against a real playoff system.
