While the article is factually true . . . the writer for Cleveland.com neglected one important factor. The remaining schedule for the team that currently sits a full game ahead of the Browns in the AFC North standings - the Pittsburgh Steelers. Don't write those guys off yet. IMHO, the 2 games left with them will ultimately decide the AFCN.

This may be another year similiar to '85. I'm thinking there could be a 3 team cluster where 9-7 and tie-breakers wins the AFC Centr.......ahem........AFC North

The Cleveland Browns have claimed LB Tae Davis via waivers from the New York Giants.

Davis is 6-1, 224 pounds and in his second NFL season out of Chattanooga. Originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2018, Davis has appeared in 18 games with five starts. He has recorded 37 career tackles, two sacks and one pass defensed. He has appeared in four games with one start this season. Davis is a native of Oxford, Ala.

No corresponding move is needed as DE Genard Avery was traded to the Eagles on Monday.

Sure they can. As long as they don't have to play the Browns.

Freddie has a shot to right the ship, and grow into the HC job, but it's a long shot IMO.

For every team we face thinking "this will be a win", the opponent is thinking "here's one we can win".

NE made it plain, let the Browns do their thing, don't F up and you win.

Beyond playing the toughest schedule and one of the toughest defensive line-ups in the entire NFL, the Browns have also faced the second-hardest run defense schedule in the NFL thus far.

IN SPITE OF THAT... Nick Chubb leads the NFL in yards-per-game and yards-per-carry.

Guess what falls of tremendously over the rest of this season? Spoiler ahead: run defense faced. Unless they ration out the carries big time to Kareem Hunt when he comes back, Nick Chubb could very well be a 2,000 yard back this season.

I’d buy it, but my opinion on that ball placement remains the same.

Yah, can we stop hearing about how "talented" they are?

Freddie is a dead man walking. Dorsey's star is dimming for that decision.

How do I get fooled into thinking "this is our year"?

I think it's safe to unbuckle now. 2-6 at the half way point and I see only 2 (maybe 3) potential wins left on the schedule.
    • Week 10: BUF - Loss
    • Week 11: PIT - Loss
    • Week 12: MIA - Push
    • Week 13: @PIT - Loss
    • Week 14: CIN - Push
    • Week 15: @ARI - Loss
    • Week 16: BAL - Loss
    • Week 17: @CIN - Push
That's pretty sad when you consider the 3 maybe wins are against teams that are a combined 1-15.

    And . . . While I'm still in a salty mood . . .

Baker Mayfield, you just got schooled on how to play QB in the NFL by a guy who had never thrown a pass in the NFL. A guy, by the way, who:
    • Didn't have his BFF promoted to Head Coach.
    • Didn't have his GM (a former NFL QB) go out and surround him with skilled position playmakers. (In fact, he traded one of his top WR's to the 49ers only 2 weeks prior.)
    • Hasn't yet walked out of a single media session. Probably because backup QB's who have only been on a roster less than 2 months don't get media sessions.
    • Can throw a 10 yard out and have the ball approach the intended receiver in under 10 yards of altitude with a velocity of something slower than an exorcet missle.
Dare I say it? Is Baker Mayfield really our "Franchise QB"? Or is he part of the problem?

OBTW: Mr. Dorsey . . . Wyatt Teller is NOT the solution.

Wow! Someone has a "measured" slant on the Browns situation. He makes sense. There is little point in changing Coaching or Management at this point. The season is lost, as far as Playoffs go.

Now can we improve? Can we become a team? Can Freddie stand up and coach? Can Mayfield be the QB we want him to be. Can our vaunted D show up?

Not any questions about can we be contenders, just competent. That is so dissappointing, after the incredible second half from last year, but it the crux of the question.

The writer points out the repeated pattern of "firings to fix it" approach, and I believe that approach has failed us often enough to indicate it isn't the correct way to go. That said, there are plenty of failures on the field, on the sidelines and in the office, to overcome. Tough times ahead, but if you can't face that organizationally, won't come together, accept your failings and do the hard work needed to overcome them as a team, you can only start over.

How's that worked out for us?
