If it's only two weeks they should be ok, if it's longer than a month then they'll be scrambling for a wild card.

Kyle Okposo is the kind of man you root for regardless of what sweater he's wearing. He's just a good guy, and he's gone through more than his share of life's challenges.
Two years ago he was sent to the ICU in critical condition after a bad reaction to meds. while being treated for a concussion. Word is he could have died; it was that serious.

It's with that thought that Sabres fans were extra concerned when he went to the lockerroom during the Rags game. (The Sabres are sorely in need of grit, but he should not be the man doing the fighting at this stage.)

Initially the prognosis looked good, and he traveled with the team to NJ. Well, he's been sent back to Buffalo and the mood in Sabresland is somber.

    Best wishes, big guy!

Throughout Malkins career he's played 61 games a year on average.

75% Malkin has still been pretty good for Pittsburgh over the years.

No major injuries reported yet for FL - Trocheck has been day-to-day, but has been on ice for light skates. Mike Matheson still out, likely no update until next week. Barkov is very clearly hurt, but the team has continued to insist that he's fine, from the preseason when he got "not injured". Despite the high assist count, he just hasn't been himself. I believe it's his left shoulder - I've watched him favoring it routinely, including holding it after hits, etc. The guy needs to sit, but he and the organization continue to insist that he's fine.

I have a feeling that it's something that will require an extensive rehab period, thus they don't want to sit him until the offseason. If that's the case, and they're risking him being hurt more... f*** them all.

That said, injury update: Barkov is playing, but simply not well, and that will likely be the case all season long.

Hedman left the TB game early with an injury. He might be their most invaluable player

Hope he gets well very soon. He is a major reason why TB was picked to play the Buffalo Swedes, err Sabres, in Stockholm in about 10 days.

The Sabres want the Bolts to put up a good fight.

I firmly believe the Lightning are still the best team in the league, assuming Hedman is healthy. Marathon not a sprint.

I firmly believe you’re going to change your mind at some point this season. Just as often a team comes out of nowhere to surprise us on the upside, there is usually a team that surprises us with their tumble down the standings. The Bolts are my candidate for that dubious distinction.

Buffalo will falter - but they may make the playoffs. They need more middle six F’s. The team is not playing with smoke and mirrors, but they’re just good enough - yet - to sustain their pace.

Montreal is IMO more likely to make the playoffs than TB.

    Meanwhile there’s a team in Boston ...

    Fair enough, we shall see.

Realistically I don’t think the Bruins are the best team in the league this year. They are however the greatest franchise on Earth.
