That's part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations. They'll give out 5 pennants over the course of the season for each decade of Sabres hockey.

I'm pretty sure they have 70s night once a year, this year they're doing extra with the 5 pennants.

Still, this narrative detracts from their stated marketing plans. The issue, as I see it, is the 1970's pennant and not a 70's night. This give-away is directly tied to the 50th Anniversary. There will be four more decade-pennants give-away games.

That's a good idea. I should get the 1970's pennant since that's when my obsession got started. Too bad I'm in Denver, about 1,700 miles away.

I’ve been waiting for the inevitable. I’ve been waiting for the Sabres to lose two consecutive games. I did not want this to happen, but it was certain that they would.

It is also an opportunity. It’s an opportunity for the team to learn and respond to a losing streak.

What better test could we ask for than to have the NY Islanders next? The Islanders have won eight straight, and Buffalo has no real time to think about it after they fly home for tomorrow’s game.

I hope they respond with a good game - they do not have to win*. With the trip to Sweden after this, Sabres fans hope the team has their head in the present. It’s a big game!

(* They do not HAVE to win because I maintain that this season is more about real progress than about winning. The team is making good strides, but at best they’re a bubble playoff team this season. They’re a couple of players away from being a real post-season threat. Some of those players may already be in the organization but the NHL roster is not good enough yet. This test will be about team-resolve and attitude more than a test of results.)

The Sabres D seems like they're taking a lot of high risk plays in the O-zone. When you play sub-par teams you can get away with it, but a team like the Caps will make you pay. A 4 on 1 breakaway is almost as rare as a triple play in baseball.

You only get 1 like from me for that one, skinny. That's because I'm maxed out at 1, but you deserve at least 3 for the French Connection tribute.

When we were kids playing road hockey, the three players kids most wanted to be like were Sittler, Lafleur and Perrault.
I remember they had hockey cards of famous lines like the french connection, crown line, the checking line from the habs.

The Sabres would always try their best to avoid going head to head with HNIC, alot of friday night and saturday afternoon games that were televised.
