Left tackle Trent Williams didn’t get traded by Washington before Tuesday’s deadline, but there has been a change in his status.

According to multiple reports, Williams had ended his long holdout and reported to the team. Williams was at odds with the team over their handling of a growth on his head that was eventually removed and found to be benign. Williams is also thought to want a new contract and asked for a trade away from the team.

The team said they were not going to deal him, but there were reports on Tuesday that they were open to a deal that would bring back at least a first-round pick. Cleveland was the team most often linked with a potential trade, but none came to fruition.

Williams is under contract through the 2020 season.

Steelers running back Benny Snell doesn’t have to worry about drug charges from the state of Ohio, but the court of the NFL may still rule.

According to Tom Davidson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, drug charges against Snell were withdrawn after an August traffic stop.

According to a report from the Harrison County (Ohio) sheriff’s office, Snell admitted to smoking marijuana about 20 minutes before he was pulled over for speeding. A deputy found 2.74 grams of marijuana in a baggie with a Star Wars logo on it — bringing new meaning to the Rise of Skywalker.

Snell was clocked doing 68 mph in a 55mph zone. He pleaded guilty to speeding and paid $240 in fines and court costs.

His attorney sought to seal records in the case. A Steelers spokesman said they alerted the league office when they learned of the incident, which could create an issue for Snell down the road. Players can be punished under the league’s conduct policy absent an arrest.

Broncos cornerback Chris Harris‘s name was mentioned often as a trade candidate leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline, but 4 p.m. ET came and went without Harris being shipped to another club.

While there was a time this offseason that Harris was amenable to a deal sending him away from the Broncos, he was not upset to learn that he’d be staying in Denver for the rest of the year.

“I’m definitely happy,” Harris said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “Now, I can just play and get this behind me and focus on finishing strong the rest of the year. Try and get some wins.”

The Broncos season has not gone well, but Harris said he enjoys his relationships with the team’s coaches and he has other considerations. His wife is due to give birth to a daughter “any day now” and Harris wants to be around for the arrival of his child.

Harris is set for free agency after the season.

Jets asking for a #1, plus a couple #2s, and more. Would have loved to have had Adams, but too rich a price.

not a lot of trades across the league. bummer. i guess the price was too damn high for some players to be dealt and moved.

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was more than just the best defensive rookie in the NFL in October.

The second month of Bosa’s NFL career saw him play at such a high level that the NFL named him the NFC’s defensive player of the month in addition to making him the league’s top defensive rookie for the same period.

Bosa became the third rookie since 1982 to record three sacks and an interception in a game when he pulled it off against the Panthers last Sunday. That capped a four-game run that saw him record 16 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks and a forced fumble to go with that interception.

All of that has made Bosa the leading candidate to be named this year’s defensive rookie of the year. Another month or two like this one and he’ll be in the mix for defensive player of the year as well.

The Bosa brothers were obviously the best players in the last two drafts yet teams passed on both of them.

Eight games up, eight games won. The San Francisco 49ers (8-0) held off a late charge from the Arizona Cardinals (3-5-1) to secure a 28-25 win over their NFC West rivals and keep their perfect season alive on "Thursday Night Football."

One of San Francisco's big-ticket items on defense is done for the year.

Niners starting inside linebacker Kwon Alexander is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source.

Alexander suffered the injury in Thursday night's win over the Arizona Cardinals. The star linebacker played 35 of 50 snaps against Arizona, but didn't see the field in the fourth quarter.

The 25-year-old linebacker joined San Francisco in the offseason on a four-year, $54 million deal after missing 10 games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season with a torn ACL. In eight games this season, Alexander tallied 34 tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and 0.5 sacks.

"Kwon has been great for us this year on the field and as a leader," Niners coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday. "I mean you guys can feel (his energy). I think everyone watching it can feel it and our team feels it. That's how he is on game day, that's how he is on the practice field. The speed he plays with, he's been a great addition for us. It's going to be a tough loss."

In place of Alexander will likely be Dre Greenlaw, a fifth-round rookie out of Arkansas who on Thursday night notched his first career sack.

For the undefeated 49ers, Alexander's loss is unfortunate but not one that should sideline San Francisco's Super Bowl hopes.
