Well today Nagy was asked about the stat padding done by Mitch at the end of the game and he refused to give credit and called it garbage time. I was happy to hear that.
Josh Rosen could probably be had for cheap from Miami. Not that he'd be the answer.....but he'd at least be an option.
I just saw Nagy said " I'm not a idiot I know we need to run the ball more " wasn't that a issue against Oak and pretty much all season ?????????? so wtf dude ?????????????
He doesn't trust the run game but also doesn't trust Mitch. He's not an idiot....except for when he is.
That's semi-encouraging. Previous administrations would have heaped praises and saying how the team never quit.
No thanks. Mitch was the 31st best starting QB in the league when Rosen was starting. Now with Rosen on the bench, Mitch is #32.
Trubisky went wrong. Picking him. Believing in him. Everything about him. I am not falling into this trap again. After the Redskins game I felt maybe Trubisky is good enough to win with. Short term at least. Win enough to at least not gift the Raiders a high first round pick. Bring in some competition in the offseason. Now we need a legit replacement. Last time we were in this spot Pace signed Glennon and drafted Trubisky so he gotta go too. Thanks for the good defense but somebody else needs be making the decision’s in who to bring in at the most important position in the game. Running the ball 7 times is an issue. But does anybody really think if Nagy did make a commitment to the run it would bare any fruit? Nagy needs to swallow his pride and bring in a running game coordinator. Nagy cannot design, implement or call a running game. And that’s OK. Bring in someone who can. Learn from your mistakes and get better.
Isn’t that what Mark Helfrich and Harry Heistand are for? Helfrich ran a terrific 2 headed giant at Oregon in early 2010s with Lamichael James, DeAnthony Thomas, and Kenjon Barner. It was mainly RPO. James was the power back and Thomas/Barner the burners. I’d start there.
Okay let's enter the twilight zone for a moment and let's just assume for a single moment that Pace can admit and own the mistake he made with Mitch, Given how high his actual value at one time and not the over-inflated one that he created for himself, but would there be at this point any team interested in acquiring this QB even for a half box of urinal pucks? I mean Chucky at one point used to like collect QB's. That's what we're calling that process now? My teams in the gutter, my loves in the sink.
There were several intermediate/long pass plays that should've happened yesterday and didn't, purely cos of Trubisky, so yeah totally. But damn his play selection and situational decision making is just pathetic at times. Quite a lot of times yesterday as it turns out. The Bears repeatedly threw out of 2nd & 2or3 yesterday. Why? That's a time to call a run. Cos if its an incompletion(which is what frequently happened) you're now committed to passing on 3rd down as well because the whole stadium knows Nagy isn't running on 3rd and 3. Its bad decision making. We get it, they can't run up the A-Gap. But where were the few things that have worked? Where was the jet sweep? Not called once all day and there were a few times I thought Gabriel would get it and it looked on potentially based on the D's alignment. But no. Not once. The one time Nagy called an end around was that pitchout to Miller in the 1st Q which he ultimately fumbled. But he called that play from the right hash, so Miller was running to the short side of the field. The whole point of the end around is to get a guy going into space at speed, so you call it to the side of the field with less space? It doesn't make much sense. The Bears ran 3 RB screens to Cohen yesterday for a whopping 2 yards. Two of those attempts were just embarrassing, one of which came on 3rd down. The Bears are one of the worst RB screen teams in the entire league! It never catches the D off guard and it almost always looks like it never had a chance because the timing/execution is so damned bad. Why are you calling these Nagy? Especially on 3rd Down?? Conversely, Nagy seems to have a few variations on the TE screen and its often a play that nets positive yards and looks convincing. Its not game breaking, but will I take a relatively safe play for 6-10yards, hell yes!! How many of those did Nagy call yesterday? ZERO! I know its easy to pick apart play calling when it goes wrong, but what happened to putting guys in a position to succeed? Nagy is not doing that often enough.
You know from the old CBS days Chicago Marine and Jazzman used to always emphasize the "execution", and that goes both ways, players and coaches.
That’s the problem. The Bears need to implement some good old fashion pro style running plays. The RPO isn’t working. Mitch doesn’t even know when to hand it off anymore. Nagy needs to start over with the run game. Scrap whatever he has been trying to do and go in a new direction. The Bears finished with the 11 most rushing yards last season but 27th in per carry average. This is not a new problem.
It's so fucking depressing to believe we're back here again... During the game, my son called around half time to ask if I was at the game and watching this shit. I told him that it's about to get much worse. I told him the D was about to quit on the game if Trubisky can't get a fucking first down And then they did. I suspect most of them kinda knew it during Pre-season. They knew Mitch had not progressed beyond a middle-tier H.S. football QB. And now they know that when they put it all out there. They put their jobs, health, and livelihood on the line to win, just to watch a piece of shit give the ball back to the other team 3 downs later. We need the D not to quit on the season. But if the Bears don't do something right now to make this team believe, they will.
Knowing when to hand it off would require he be able to read a defense. I honestly think he's so fucking stupid, he couldn't read a picture book.
Absolutely. I know i just singled out Nagy there, and i do believe all criticism was justified. But last night i watched the 40min version on gamepass. Went over every play in the first 3 and a bit quarters. Guys, there are people not doing their jobs all over the field on both sides. I totally get the point being made about QB play, but it is just nowhere near as simple as that. Its like almost every play it's a different player screwing up. Just so many guys on this roster playing way below their level. ps Sorry, but these adverts in the middle of peoples posts, that sucks. Adverts in between posts is one thing, but in the middle of a post, awful.
But how are you just going to switch systems now? Nagy isn't putting Mitch under center, and he's not going to stop his 'throw to set up the run' Andy Reid style. Major change wont come till the offseason, till then you have Helfrich and Heistand, for better or worse. Seeing as how 2019 is about sink or swim the next 10 games (looking like the Titanic at this point), I'm on board with Pat Mannelly's idea he mentioned yesterday on AM 670. Bench Allen Robinson. Mitch isn't growing fast enough or understanding fast enough, so take away the only safety blanket/1st read he has. Time for him to sink or swim. Win-win, either Mitch learns how to be a quarterback or you know he isn't smart enough to play it at the NFL level and you know what you need to do starting this offseason, when you can make the change. Yeah this. Its brutal. What the fuck, Tim?
Did he actually say that? And are you serious about supporting that idea? Leave it to a career special teams player to come up with such a ludicrous idea as that. Nagy: “Yeah, OK guys. Way to bust your asses all summer and throughout practices and in the weight room. But we are going to submarine the best interests of the team by benching our best offensive weapon so our retard of a quarterback can “sink or swim”. And we all know that fucktard is gonna sink like a stone, but hey, We are trying to develop a QB here, not win football games as a team. Also, sorry Allen Robinson on your stats going down the tubes, but one guy’s development takes precedence over the team. I know you’ll all be on board with this.”
