USA BLOWS! No offense Canada, but they shouldn't lose to you.

Haaaha, but they did, great goaltending. Lucky the game wasn't tonight, it's pouring rain.

The only real names I recognized were Michael Bradley and Ossorio. This game was a 2022 WC qualifier, we're first in group A now.

    they stink!

-coaches fall victim to being told how to run the team by the US Federation.

    -coaches have bad coaching schemes.

    -poor coaching overall

-their talent pool is dwindling. kids play baseball, hoops and football more than soccer.

-players who have dual citizenship play for the other country rather than the USA.

-USA is stuck on playing old time players, who have given their left arm for the program, like Michael Bradley. No way he should be on the team anymore.

-If you play on Team USA under 16 and Under 20 teams, you will be groomed for the National Team. If you can't afford to practice and travel say for the Under 16 team, you're out. They will take someone who can afford to play, practice and travel. This alone kills any chance of finding real talent vs rich talent.

-they have a youth movement but it's nowhere near the other teams in the world.

-USA Youth soccer is all about money and paying money to play in these big name tournaments. All bullshit. No real youth development programs. No real grooming process for the future.

-kids today play for their club teams and NOT their HS teams bc the club team is threatening them to not start if they don't commit 100% to the club team. that is BS. My buddies were ranked #4 in the Nation for HS soccer and they did both. To not play HS ball is losing a lot of skill and experience.

-They started the soccer academies through the MLS but it's not enough. European clubs groom kids at 7, 8 and 9 in their programs. They own you and pay for your schooling and training. Team USA isn't grooming anyone that early. Kids that age are in grade school doing whatever they want and playing video games. This won't cut it on the World Stage.

-the top players from the NCAA rarely go to the MLS. The top scorer or goalie "may" get drafted into the MLS. Maybe. The rest of the top soccer talent doesn't. The MLS is turning away good players that could play for the National Team and yet Michael Bradley is on the team still!

Coaching could be fixed, get another coach, not sure stats would back a dwindling talent pool. I think there's more Americans playing soccer than there was 25 years ago.

Maybe the player development has stayed the same while the rest of the world.has improved.
As long as soccer is the #7-8 sport in the US, things won't improve.

but what are the QUALITY of Americans playing soccer? Little Johnny getting his 7 yr old youth trophy doesn't mean shit to me. he has no skill or in a development league. all coaches care about now is money and playing in these big named tournaments. no skill set being taught.

Ok, not sure why it was different in the 90s when they had a really good team.

  13. Catfish Guest

that was 30 yrs ago. total different regime then. then the players came directly from the NCAA and not their Federation.

In 2002 with Meola and Keller they reached the quarter finals, only 17 years ago.

im shocked Meola was still on the team then. My brother knew him at UVA and they were colleagues and had a class together. Tony was a Yankees prospect and also played baseball at UVA.

    Well u mentioned the 90's.

another thing i forgot to mention is the old boys club. if you're in it, then you're ok and can stay on the team like Mike Bradley. The USA for years kept players way too long that were a part of their Youth teams. So the hell what? They need entirely new blood across the board.

Canada had that problem too, at least this Canadian team had a bit of a pulse, not like the old teams.
Regardless of what happens, the US automatically qualifies to the next round (hexagonal) because of their fifa ranking.

Mexico will always be the #1 Concaf team, it's the other islands that always scramble in there.

USA should be able to beat Mexico if they were better constructed and managed! The US Soccer Federation is a mess.
