Agree to disagree. Stats DO NOT always tell the whole story.
The O-line looked horrible against the Rams. See Lym’s comment on the Yugo vs Ferrari.
It was definitely the same against the Niners, even worse. Regardless of how and or who they used to try and block Bosa, and the rest of the 49ers front seven. They looked horrible, lazy pathetic, etc... Robinson had more Ole blocks than I could count.

Sadistically they may be better than they showed on the field Monday. One thing is for certain they are not giving 110% effort on every play.

GAMES ARE WON OR LOST IN THE TRENCHES

And Monday they got their collective ASSES handed to them on a gold platter.

They need to scrap whatever offensive changes they have made since Todd Monken came to town, and go back to what we were doing the second half of last season. Our play calling this year has been mind boggling. Why did we even go get Odell Beckham this offseason? If trickery and misdirection is the only way to get OBJ involved, we made a huge mistake in bringing him in. Nick Chubb is getting it done on the ground, yet the passing game continues to look lost.. There is no real excuse for how poorly Baker has played this season. He has been awful, and his receiver's and O-line haven't been good either....Yet something tells me there is a resiliency here.

As for the defense. The 49ers game reminded me of the Chargers game last year. SF could have played the entire game without throwing a pass, and still beat us soundly. Absolutely inexcusable. I don't know what the hell we were doing, but you can't beat anyone with that sort of effort....Oh by the way. Chris Carson and the run-happy Seahawks are next.

I'm not gonna say Freddie is in over his head. At the end of the day, the players have to execute, and our breakdowns have been many....This feels like a crucial point in the season for the Browns. A big win on Sunday can change everything. Baker has not lost consecutive games before. We'll see what happens. Not ready to bury these guys yet.

Statistics have nothing to do with it. Re-watch the film.

1:00: SFO blitzes OLB and CB to the same side, Dontrell Hilliard - dead last in pass blocking efficiency - cannot pick up the blitz (Nick Chubb is the NFL's third-best pass-blocking running back.. why is he out of the game on a crucial passing down?)

1:38: SFO rushes four, Browns pick up the rush even as Robinson is beat (Bitonio covers) however Baker drifts right and into a stunt, scrambles back into pressure and gets the strip sack fumble

**Tough to be sure, since it isn't the All-22, but it's 3rd and 3 on this down and Beckham he appears to have the drag route open... Baker needs to deliver the ball more quickly.**

3:37: our best lineman (Bitonio) gets beat handily by Bosa on a stunt -- flat-out out-played

4:28: SFO rushes two going full prevent defense at the end of the second quarter, D'Ernest Johnson seems to wiff on a block and Hubbard is already giving a lot of ground -- agree here, it's not best effort -- Mayfield doesn't navigate the pocket well as he continues to look for the big play and is caught from behind by Bosa

Mayfield is vacating clean pockets too often and putting himself in tougher situations. This is in turn tougher on the offensive linemen if he's constantly on the move back there -- it's a lot easier to block for a guy who stays where he's supposed to be on the play. He's putting himself in bad situations and trying to work outside the structure far too often.

I noticed that in the Rams game, and then again in the 49ers game. Baker is actually making things harder on himself at times.

    :uhuh:
I watched enough of that abortion on Monday:yuck:

I agree that it was a "team" "lack of effort" performance. The "lowlight" clips don't necessarily show the whole story.
Dropped passes, missed tackles, missed blocking assignments...

True, I hope that he is not becoming Couch v2.0.o_O

    This was especially tough...

The obvious one was Callaway at the endzone dropping six on the board that turned into an interception the other way and led to seven for the bad guys. That's a catch they had to have.

It doesn't show up as a drop - mostly because he lacked the effort - but Callaway let a touchdown grab go over his head in the redzone before they settled for three.

And, as @BrendanLeister points out, Callaway was also likely at fault for the first interception in the same (Sherman's) where Callaway's route was so bad, Mayfield read it one way and Callaway ended up drifting back inside which led to confusion between QB and WR. What's most disappointing in that one - besides the pick, obviously - is that no one was going to tackle Callaway if he catches that. It's another six.

Mayfield surely deserves a lion's share of the blame, but Callaway likely cost the Browns 2-3 *touchdowns* and contributed two change-of-possession plays, both of which led to scores for San Francisco. Not trying to play the "what if" game so much as I am more concerned with what the actual heck he's doing in there right now.

I was also thinking of the first two OBJ dropped right out of the gate. Those tow catches would have went a long way to helping the QB and his confidence.
