Reports: Bill Callahan is the interim head coach in Washington...

Jay Gruden’s key doesn’t work anymore and we now know who will take over as the interim head coach in Washington.

According to multiple reports, assistant head coach/offensive line coach Bill Callahan will take the reins in the wake of Gruden’s dismissal on Monday morning.

Callahan was the successor to Jon Gruden as the Raiders head coach in 2002 and 2003. He took the team to the Super Bowl after his first season on the job, but lost to the elder Gruden’s Buccaneers. Oakland went 4-12 in 2003, however, and Callahan was sent packing after his second season.

He followed that up with a four-year run as the University of Nebraska’s head coach. He joined Washington in 2015 as the offensive line coach and added the assistant head coach title in 2017.

teddy b with 4 TDs yesterday looking good.

The Jets stink. they don't even resemble a NFL football team!

NFC East is all tied up with the Cowboys and Eagles both at 3-2. Their match-ups should be great football later this season.

Can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a Cowboys performance. I mean, yeah - losing always sucks. But to turn in THAT turd of a performance after showing nothing in New Orleans the week before?

    F@#%ing pathetic.

As if beating the Redskins and Dolphins shows how great their performance is? Green Bay and New Orleans are at the least better than those 2 teams searching for a first win. Dallas is a quality team without any doubt but when they get beaten by another quality team it's not because their performance was poor, the other team has a lot to do with it.

True and it seemed there wasn't a big demand for Brees once he tore his shoulder as a Charger. All it takes is to give him another chance and have faith.

Modern medicine may have had something to do with both of those recoveries.

No, but when you have Dallas' offensive talent, you HAVE to put up more than 10 points against New Orleans, and you can't get shut out the first half at home the following week. Defensively, with the Pack's #1 WR out, you can focus a little more on stopping the run...and they DIDN'T.

Cowboys performance was poor, plain and simple.

Who says what number of points they HAVE to put up, other than simply at least a point more than the other team. The Saints have offensive talent too but they aren't going to score 30 or 40 points every game either. They got enough points to get the win with. That is the objective. I didn't throw Ted under the bus for not throwing a touchdown. Dak didn't throw one either. Does it mean they stunk? No.

That is not being a good loser. Maybe the Packers and Saints were more prepared for those games than Dallas was. maybe they were just the better team that day.
Hey when the Saints lost to Dallas last year THEY only got 10 points. I gave Dallas credit, I didn't whine about it. Dallas was a quality team. I did gripe when the Saints lost to the Bucs because the Saints in that game played worse than they did and THEY weren't a quality team. 48-40 loss at home against a weak team, yes, there is a huge difference.

I'm beginning to think the Buccaneers are NOT a weak team. Going into week 5, they were 2-2. At that point they had played the 2nd hardest schedule in the NFL (their opponents' W/L record in games not involving the Buccaneers was 8-3). They were +3 on turnover differential and +1.5 on scoring differential per game.

Maybe Bruce Arians is better than I thought.

    1) Saints were going to be a little more limited because they were trotting out their backup QB his first start.
    2) Saints surrendered and average of 313 passing yards and 134 rushing yards per game in Weeks 1-3; Dallas got 212 and 45, respectively. That's not good enough, and sorry to burst your bubble but a most of that falls on Dallas. They play-calling was unimaginative and the offensive line ADMITTED they turned in a subpar performance.

I'm simply stating a fact. Saints and Pack deserved to win; that doesn't mean Dallas didn't play poorly. They did - period. Especially against Green Bay.

Not whining about it - again, I'm making a statement of fact.

So if your team loses....you're not allowed to say they played poorly?

You can play poorly against a good team.

true but his knee was so badly damaged, i didn't think he would play again. walk again - sure, but not play again. Dante Culpepper never seemed the same after his injury.

This is THIS year, I was talking LAST year. They went 5-11 in 2018. To me, that is a weak team.

A good team can make a tough schedule look easy. A weak team can make an easy schedule look brutal. With the exception of 2 opponents the Saints and Tamps schedules last year were identical. But The Saints went 13-3.

As for this year, I'm not seeing the Bucs as I did last year. This is a team that handed the NFC Champ Rams their butt to them at their home. 55 points! On here before the game I said I didn't know which way to go with them. Had they won, they would move into a tie for first. I am glad they didn't get 55 points again.

Ive seen teams win and play very poorly also against good and bad.

I had selfish intent in seeing the Cowboys win. Im a huge fan of Zeke's (fantasy interest also) abilities and really needed (as you well know ;) ) a GB Packers loss as a Vikings fan.

The table was set right up for the Boys and they laid a fat juicy egg... played extremely poorly and that's an opinion that I believe is fairly expressed.

Yeah I'm beyond pissed at the Bears for coming out of the gate so poorly in the first half yesterday. Their piss poor effort combined with Pack and Viking wins really hurts.

Schedule gets really tough after the bye. Winnable games but no gimmes. Trubisky needs to get his stuff together and defense needs to rebound...likely without Akiem Hicks which will be a huge loss.
