The NFL has had enough with Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict. Burfict, who has previously been suspended repeatedly for illegal hits and was ejected for a helmet-to-helmet blow yesterday, has been suspended for the rest of the season, the league announced this morning. “There were no mitigating circumstances on this play,” NFL V.P. of Football Operations Jon Runyan said in a letter to Burfict. “Your contact was unnecessary, flagrant and should have been avoided. For your actions, you were penalized and disqualified from the game. Following each of your previous rule violations, you were warned by me and each of the jointly-appointed appeal officers that future violations would result in escalated accountability measures. However, you have continued to flagrantly abuse rules designed to protect yourself and your opponents from unnecessary risk. Your extensive history of rules violations is factored into this decision.” Burfict’s suspension is without pay, and will also cover the postseason if the Raiders make it. He does have the right to appeal. (PFT)
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said after Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks that there’s “nobody coming in that locker room to save us” after an 0-3-1 start to the season. It seems that they are willing to cast some players out of that locker room in hopes of finding better results in the weeks to come. According to multiple reports, the Cardinals have released veteran safety D.J. Swearinger. Swearinger played every snap on defense over the first three games of the season and played all but one snap against Seattle. He had 17 tackles. Fifth-round pick Deionte Thompson is the only safety other than Swearinger and Budda Baker to see time on defense, so he will likely take over the starting role. Swearinger was claimed off of waivers by the Cardinals last December after Washington cut him loose. He also played with the team in 2015 and 2016 as part of a career that’s also featured stints with the Texans and Buccaneers. (PFT)
0-3 Steelers vs 0-3 Bengals, tonight is a must win for both teams. Yes, I went out on a limb there. I bet its a good game too.
Steelers sack Andy Dalton eight times, cruise to 27-3 victory over Bengals... Mason Rudolph was 24 for 28... he picked them apart, defense was stout... great win for the Steelers.
Good luck to the QB they draft to replace Dalton. Although there is a slight chance they go 1 more year because of contracts and or opportunity.
Gotta get their first round pick from 2019 healthy and continue to add pieces to Taylor’s puzzle. Green needs to be dealt for future considerations along with Eifert and Dunlap. Time to buy all in on the rebuild. They likely have a top 5 pick at season’s end, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved around the board for future assets, unless Dalton can be dealt prior to the draft.
NFL Tank Division New York Jets 0-3-0 Miami Dolphins 0-4-0 Cincinnati Bengals 0-4-0 Denver broncos 0-4-0 Washington Redskins 0-4-0 Arizona Cardinals 0-3-1 The race for the #1 pick is on. Some coach's on a seat that's getting very warm too.
Only coach I see getting fired from that list is Gruden, and maybe Gase if the Jets listen to Tim lol. Most are first year coaches, Broncos, Bengals and probably Dolphins need new QBs, though the Dolphins will probably keep Rosen to start while the rookie they chose develops. Redskins, Cardinals and Jets have their QBs. If Gase is fired that looks like the most attractive job of the bunch, Darnold, Bell and a pretty good receiving corps, and a developing defense...
The New Orleans Saints moved up 7 spots in the NFL Power Rankings after beating 2 quality teams without Drew Brees. Only a true idiot would say backups don't win games. RANK 3 SAINTS (3-1) 7↑ Previous rank: No. 10 It's not just that the Saints are now 2-0 with Drew Brees sidelined. It's who they've beaten -- the Seahawks in Seattle and the Cowboys at the Superdome -- and the manner in which they've done it. These have been team-wide efforts illuminating just how deep and well-coached this group is. You'd have to think these are two of the most rewarding regular-season wins of Sean Payton's illustrious run in New Orleans. On Sunday, the Saints' defense forced three turnovers and held a talented Cowboys attack to just 257 yards in a 12-10 win. It was the rarest of outcomes for New Orleans, which won for the first time in the Payton era without scoring a touchdown. It would help if Brees' fill-in at QB, Teddy Bridgewater, gave the team a little more -- he's been more down than up so far -- but the Saints are showing they don't need a star under center to stack wins. How many teams can claim that?
Only a coward would make a passing comment instead of engage me directly. Also, you’re totally paraphrasing me incorrectly. So I see the time away from the board didn’t make you any smarter.
Based on a look at the NFL standings....Bills and Bears. And you could include teams like the 49ers, Titans, Bucs, Colts, and Jags as teams without "stars" under center that currently have realistic chances at the playoffs 1/4 through the season.
Hey Fucktarded moron, I didn't mention you, but the shoe does fit. The several others in this thread just said you don't make sense, I'll tell you don't don't make sense because you are stupid. Learn the difference between a 1st string quarterback and a 2nd string backup. Obviously, you don't know. You spend so much time calling others idiots in the midst of talking very stupid yourself. I don't claim being any smarter after an absence, but surely you hadn't improved any. it's bad enough that you don't know what you are talking about with Politics...or Civics...or American History...or Literary Devices and Tropes. YOU don't know what you are talking about with professional football either.
I'm not gonna taint one of the best threads on this site with personal crap....I suggest you do the same. If you want to engage me you can PM me or pick another thread where shit has already been tossed around. Grow up. If you wanna talk football here do it....if you don't piss off.
YOU did that with your previous post. Are you so dumb that you can't reply your ignorance in a private conversation? YES you are. You can go continue your little 3rd grade mentality arguments in Politics. Hey stupid, when you kick expect to be kicked back. I didn't come here to bicker with you. back to civility....
Again....if you wanna talk football on this thread please do so. If all you wanna do is attack me and further your delirious, creepy, completely unhinged obsession with me then you can either PM me or do it on another thread. This is one of the best threads on this site and shouldn't be crapped on this way. Sadly this is the 2nd time I have to say it and you aren't a decent enough person to simply stop.
