Labor Day weekend was invented for fantasy football..

I'm in two money leagues..

What could be more perfect?

Saturday noon draft league #1 (every Labor Day weekend). Start Eating/drinking/drafting. It's an IDP league, no keepers, so we watch college football all day while drafting. We usually finish up with the picks around 6-7 PM, then continue the party.

Sunday 4:00 pm draft league #2 (every Labor Day weekend). Still recovering from Saturday, start eating chicken wings and drinking some beer to get the cobwebs out. Finish up around 8:00 pm. Wife picks me up and we head home.

LABOR DAY, they give us an extra day this weekend to spend with the family and makeup for the fact we ignored them Sat/Sun..

It's the perfect scenario.

 

haha i haven't done a live draft in over 20 yrs. i don't drink anymore, so that's out and im not married, so no wife to avoid. i avoid everyone every single damn day! hahahahahha

 

Yeah, I get ya...
For the record, I'm not REALLY avoiding the family ALL weekend. The Saturday draft kids and wives also attend.. it's a big party we've been doing for 13 years now. It started when one of the guys wanted a reason to get together on Saturday instead of Monday Labor Day weekend.. the guys drafted a fantasy league and just another reason for the wives to get together and drink wine. We all have kids within 3 years in age, so they all grew up together... Now that they are older, it's sometimes the only time of year they get all together at the same time as most are in different schools.


Now, the Sunday draft...that's all me... Well, not exactly.. My brother in law started this league in 2002, we still have 9 of the original 12 members. My wife gets together with her sister and goes shopping in Cleveland every year for the kids school clothes.. and our kids get to see their cousins.

So, all in all, it's friends and family related all weekend, but it has become quite a tradition.

and Dawg - im headed to Cleveland to see the Browns-Seahawks in October and get in some golf too ! Can't wait.

 

12 leagues only 1 guy dropped brown and im 4th in the wavier wire order bah

 

i told a buddy to play desean jackson. he did. boom. now he owes me.

 

After week's 1 & 2, I was looking and feeling good about my teams... week 3 changed that all in a hurry, what a mess I was.

Time to regroup, reload and hope week 4 is kinder to me or maybe I just draw some better luck, lol. I stunk the place up!

 

my teams suck. 0-3, 1-2. no chance this year.

 

Had a shot to start 3-0 in all three of my leagues until Harold and his band of Tampa Bay nut-tuggers ran a train on me this week. 8-1 combined ain’t a bad start, though.

 

I was 10-4 altogether after 2 weeks... not no mo.

I woke up yesterday going why the hell are waivers not processsing. Checked three times before realizing its tuesday lol. Guess better to have waviers in and expect them a day early then wake up thursday and see all the players gone.

 

im in 2 leagues. some have waivers tuesday morning and some are wed morning. i had the #1 waiver in both leagues and took the giants backup and now starting RB.

 

One of my 3-0 teams had Saquon and TY. Not a great time to be last on the waiver order. Best dart throw RB’s I could get were Jamaal Williams and Alex Mattison. I’m hoping NYG will sign someone better than Gallman, ideally CJ Anderson who’s already on my roster lol.

During the first weekend I heard on ESPN how OJ Simpson had drafted Andrew Luck and Antonio Brown (this was after the raiders had cut Brown bit before he signed with the Patriots). I went looking for his roster but all I could find was a tweet of him going over his first 7 picks
1. Saquo Barkley
2. Michael Thomas
3. Antonio Brown
4. Josh Jacobs
5, Andrew Luck (shortly after his pick Luck announced his retirement)
6. Matt Ryan
7. Jared Cook


If I find the rest of his roster Ill post it but I thought it might help some of you feel better about any drafts you did

 

I got offered Gallman and Watkins for Thielen in this league. As previously noted I don’t think that much of Gallman, and Watkins is so hit or miss and Hill may be back soon I’m thinking I should stick with Mr. Reliable with Saquon out and TY banged up. Thoughts?

 

one owner added him in 2 leagues at 6:30 am yesterday ! damn it ! i forgot all about him.

 

Most leagues i was in he was stashed on someones bench. In a few he was allowed to be put on ir. I did grab him in 1 league. I was also surprised to see hkm stashed in 1 league being our bench is small.

 

both leagues have no IR. One league bench is 4 guys and the other is 8.

 

A big and I do mean big F you jordan howard lol
