I'm......impressed. I still don't trust Mitch but the right game plan against the perfect bum ass team. Too much dink and dunk (the TD to Gabriel was good Rex-esque) but when you have a guy as wildly inconsistent as Mitch, that's what you have to do. The Vikings will be able to cover simple drag/5 and out routes though. That can't be the game plan.

Nagy had a solid game plan. I would have mixed in more runs early but they just moved the ball dinking and dunking. Wasn't broke, no need to fix.

Khalil Mack seemed determined to make the entire Gruden family look stupid. He gets Jon in 2 weeks. In all seriousness--the play nobody blocked him in the 1st? What......are you doing?

Haha Clinton Dicks had a game. Fuller was solid, Prince was solid.

I don't want to rush to judgement, but I'm good with Buster Skrine in nickel through 3 games. Of course I miss Callahan, but like Bryce--this kid was flying around the field making plays without the penalties thus far (he led DBs last year), and he's making less money. Plus for Pace.

I had forgotten what a clueless, lost, late-to-diagnose a play linebacker looked like. Then along came Jon Bostic......

Leno and the kid who stepped in for Massie for a game were solid. Next week it gets tougher with Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffin with Kendricks and potentially Barr (injured and missed last week) mixed in. Interior OL was better, but add Linval Joseph. Daniels and Whitehair gotta play a polished game.

Hicks banged up his knee and Gabriel is out with a concussion. Gonna need Akiem next week.

I've referenced the Vikes a few times now, this coming Sunday is a must win. Division game, you've already lost to GB, and the Loins, Vikes, and Packers are starting well. Cant fall behind.

Sloppy game where the Skins were sloppier and the refs liked hearing the sound of Walt Anderson's voice. Cant do that against the Vikings. Vikes have a good secondary that's banged up and think. Their talented back ups Alexander and Holton Hill are injured and suspended.

I'm not encouraged by what we saw last night from Mitch. I'm not discouraged either. He's a QB capable of making plays here and there but he struggles with accuracy and most of the time the game moves too fast for him. That's who he is and that's what he will always be. He's not good enough to take us to a Super Bowl, he's not even good enough to beat a good team on his own during the regular season, and that's why my overall mood with this team is negative.

I can live with the missed FG since Pineiro was clearly not 100% last night.

Of course we need Hicks healthy for Sunday but if he misses the game, it won't be why we win or lose. That comes down to our QB.

We won the division last year because we went 5-1 in the division, which was tops. We lose Sunday and there's absolutely zero chance of making the playoffs with the schedule we have.

Gonna have to respond to the OP a bit here cos I was gonna talk about these things. If it looks like im trying to pick a fight....im not.

Prince was Prince with a bonus couple of stupid penalties thrown in. 1 PD but generally played with too soft coverage giving up too many easy completions. Didn't give up any home runs but also didn't effect any meaningful influence on the game. On a worse D he'd be talked about way more but here he's surrounded by superstars whos coat-tails he can ride.

Also don't wanna rush in on this early but so far Skrine does nothing for me. Shows up in tackle count for sure....because he was targeted and beat so much. 1 PD & 0 INTs in 3 games, he's making no impact.

I know he's not meant to be an enforcer, but there was an AP run in the 1stQ, he'd already taken some contact at the LOS and it just needed a cleanup hit to bring him down, Skrine comes in and makes some weak-ass attempt at throwing a shoulder at him which AP bounces straight off and its a 4yard gain. Weak.

He's making a little less than Callahan which I guess matters when factoring in cap management etc. But overall this is a clear downgrade just as many of us felt it would be. Teams may start picking on Skrine as the film mounts up.

This I have to totally disagree with. The interior OL was a shitshow last night. The run blocking was abysmal. If Howard was still here and not Monty they'd look even worse.

I've always been a huge fan, but Kyle Long in particular had a horrible game and he's having a pretty horrible season. The dude used to show the strength of 10men, now he gets overpowered too often in the run game, and can be beat by quick moves in the pass game. Hate to say that.

But I don't wanna single Long out too much cos the OL generally, and the interior in particular, got savaged in the run game. 24 runs for 90 yards @ 3.8ypc doesn't look good straight up. But strip out that last drive(which included a Monty 25yard bounce outside after being stuffed at the line) and for the first 55mins of this game the Bears gained 40yards on the ground at 2.5ypc. That is a beat down. As I caught up on the game thread I saw a LOT of calls for more run plays, but when these are the numbers being churned out I have to ask, how can you? How can Nagy?

That all looks bad but you can distil it down still further. A big part of this Offense is the RPO. A key to running the RPO well is you have GOT to be able to run consistently thru the A-Gap and the Bears simply can't do it. They lose there continually. If you can't make ground there you don't pull the LB's down, which means you then don't have the quick hit slants etc in the open space behind them. Failing on A-Gap runs in this Offense hurts both the run game and pass game and limits what you can run. Given the playbook is already reportedly limited for MT thats prob not a good thing.

Yeah, this needs to be said, and you should single him out. It's not just his strength, his reaction time/quickness is gone. He's getting beat at the point of attack constantly. I thought maybe the Packers game was an aberration but Long has probably been our worst o-lineman so far. Maybe the injuries have taken their toll but his regression is alarming either way.

That INT thrown by Mitch was such an awful throw on second look.

Stuttering feet, then throws off his back foot, and underthrows Robinson (who was blatantly hooked around the neck, btw) by a good 4 yards.

A Rob was behind Norman, all Mitch has to do there is toss it over Norman’s head to the back corner and easy TD. Nope, terribly under thrown for a pick.

He’s incapable of getting better IMO.

1- Nagy still refuses to run the ball to set up thew pass , put Mitch under center and establish something early .

2- Mitch still can't read a defense , he was better but how little it is , well frankly not enough regardless of the stats ... got to give credit to the TD throw to Gabriel though , might be his best pass in a Bears uniform .

3- Game should have been 45-0 , Bears first two possessions of 2nd half were more of the same .... nothing , nothing , nothing .

4- Number 1 D is strong as death , when the num 1's front line came out , Wash made yards up ... Ha Ha Ha great game kid !!!

5- Again with 2nd and 2 your running Cohen up the middle ???????????? WTF are you thinking ?????????

6- Maybe Whitehair should be at center just to make better calls ? or is it still to early to panic and make a change ?

This still feels like years past " Just be happy they won , it's hard to win in the NFL " The defense is loaded , yet the special teams and offense and not up to par ... like a broken record for sure .

The game next week tells us everything we need to know I think , if the offense has to win the game , I don't like their chances at all ... if the D can produce 7 points and short fields they have a shot .

How nice would it have been if, at 28-3, the Bears had just carried on and ended up winning by 40points? Did any one feel that was gonna happen even then? Me neither. The bullshit factory is gonna be working OT after this win, but they shouldn't be. This was a bad team the Bears should've wiped the floor with and didn't. In fact, until the QB sneak fumble things were starting to go markedly in the wrong direction.

Personally I liked how Nagy came out with the playcalling. Little up tempo, trying to get Trubisky some rhythm, but not over-complicated pre snap. Personally I thought it was a good approach and overall I thought Nagy called a good game. Execution problems mean he isn't getting full value for good work here, but at least he's calling a better game. He needs to keep it up! I still really want Nagy to get Monty more involved, averaging 12 carries a game just isn't enough, but given how the OL is playing its not easy.

ARob is one of my fav players, so under-rated. The stat sheet looks nothing but he had a good game. He was open way more than his targets showed. And straight out the gate he was a razor last night, two real good catches to keep the chains moving on that first drive. I said Nagy started out well with the playcalls, but it wouldn't actually have mattered if not for ARob cos Mitch was far from accurate early.

Speaking of Mitch, he actually came out of this game with like a 116. Talk about being flattered by your QBR! I know he's not gonna make every throw, the problem is he misses so many makeable throws. I mean how can he be so inaccurate at times? The INT was jaw droppingly bad. The ONE thing you can't do there is underthrow it cos then your f'd. So what does he do? Underthrow it. Such a bad throw.

That screen pass to Cohen for 25 was nice to see, mostly cos the Bears have been so bad at throwing screen passes this season. They ran at least 1 TE screen effectively also. Need those.

I didn't like the Haha signing but we saw the full potential of what he can bring last night. When teams have to throw and its 3 & Long they basically have two FS's out there trying to pick off passes. Really nice read for the 2nd INT. Dix still brings little in run support, but with that front 7 its ok.

T-Formation!! That was cool. In fact it should've been a TD. Monty got only a tiny piece of the LB on his block and Cohen had to follow it up. If Cohen could've gone in the hole as drawn up and taken on the DB that should be a TD.

For all the good on Defense the pass D is concerning. I know game flow was an elemnt last night, but fact is the Bears have given up 630yards thru the air in 2 weeks to Case Keenum and Joe friggin Flacco! And neither has a single WR that scares you. My biggest problem is with how many uncontested throws there are. Guys are wide open. The pass rush has been great but they can't get there every single play and when they don't the throw comes out on time and its a completion. It was ridiculous how soft Fuller and PA were playing at times. Is that a scheme decision? Neither are big press corners i know, but they seem to be playing so far off at times. More than last season.

A good passing Offense could put up a lot of yards i suspect.

This is what I mean by Fangio > Pagano. You have a front 7 like that and then play off coverage?? You are in yourself, negating your best asset. Make that QB hold that ball another second or two and watch the pressures & sacks really start coming. There were far too many 2-3 step drop and pass plays for Denver and Washington.

I read somewhere on social media, someone calling Pagano "prevent Pagano". I laughed at first and then after I thought about it....that's not funny. If we play a better team, we would have prevented ourselves from winning the game. I freaking hate the prevent defense.

The Packers, Seahawks, Lions, Dolphins, Patriots, Vikings to name a few all put up monster numbers on us in the 4th quarter in 2018. Honestly I don't see anything different between Prevent Pagano and Prevent/Out of Gas Fangio. I don't like both!

What I am doing and what everyone else should start doing is stop thinking of Mitch Trubisky as the second pick in the draft. Drafted ahead of future HOF Mahomes. At that Mitch will always be a failure. That book is already written. Everyone is so hurt by this fact that they are depriving themselves of some enjoyable football.

IMO Mitch had a great game. Efficient outside of one horrible decision and worse throw. Yea he missed some open guys. He is always going to do that. Does this game make me raise my expectations of him. Hell no. It’s one game. So I’ll take it one game at a time.

I am very disappointed in Nagy’s running scheme. When Howard was looking good the Bears ran outside zone. Since Nagy came to town we have changed to an inside zone scheme and it isn’t working. Can we try to run outside just a little. Please!

The defense is a fun group to watch no doubt. Bears fans love good defense and this team gives us plenty of that. But I can’t help but get a little uncomfortable with the long drives they have been giving up. As disappointing as the pick Mitch threw, the 98 yard drive that followed was just as disappointing.

Danny Trevathan had a hell of a game and good for Ha Ha. Nice little revenge game for him. I don’t see the drop off from Amos yet.

I have to agree with you on this. Skrine is holding up well. And unlike Callahan he is playing. Last I checked Bryce has yet to get over the injury he suffered last season and hasn’t suited up yet. Troubling considering his injury history.

Next week is a big test. Not gonna say we don’t have a chance. Gonna need Hicks in the lineup against a very good running attack.

I'm not going to do that and it's not because Mitch is worse than Mahomes. I can't get away from the fact that if our GM had drafted the right guy, we would have won the Super Bowl last year and would be the favorites to win it this year. That's why I hurt.

I've also never seen anything like that - at least, not on purpose, if that's what he was doing. When I saw that play in real time, all I could think about was the closing speed - dude hit that hole from a dead stop going 100 MPH. All of our playmakers did, last night. That's such a big part of what makes this defense so good - that front 7 closes on the ball immediately, no matter where it is.

I've never seen it before either and I have no idea if he did it on purpose....but it's just sick.

Redskins Oline room is gonna be a miserable place this week.

Trevathan is a clever, veteran dude. And with that group, you have to imagine they're always talking about new ways to do things / improve. My instinct is to be skeptical it was purposeful, but... I could definitely see it.

Washington can call the Broncos for advice on how to handle that film study. Maybe start a support group.

I've seen people ragging on Pagano for some reason and I don't get it. I think he's done a really good job. He inherited an amazing situation obviously but he's added some wrinkles and aggression to the defense that is paying off.

I love when the Bears bring the house. I've never been a blitz happy guy because some QBs can rip you a new one when you do it but against a guy like Keenum.....bring the heat all night.

The speed this defense has to the QB is unreal. And when it's Mack coming in hot....he always seems to go for the ball first, the sack second....and I f'n love that.

This defense is more fun to watch for me than any of the Lovie defenses we had. No one can replace Urlacher and Briggs for me and the Mike Brown highlights will always be special....but this D is on a different level right now. There are All Pros at every level and they're having all kinds of fun wrecking games right now.

I wish I could drink the kool aid so deeply. He had a fine game, but I don’t know how you can hand wave away missing open guys. Or the fact that A rob bailed him out on a bunch. Or the one he threw to Montgomery thinking he had the height of A rob. Or the horrific throw on the int, underthrowing that is ridiculous. What in your mind is the ONE horrible decision?

If we look at this team, he is a massive liability. Regardless of when he was picked. That’s not why people are worried. He could have been a fourth rounder and I’d be concerned.

That said, when he doesn’t have to think and just throws he often does a lot better and he can deliver some strikes. Maybe it will still click for him. I’ve been mentally lowering the potential ceiling until I see more, and I’m not seeing it.
