Have you seen what their defense looks like? Winston will look like peak Brett Farve against that secondary that appears to have no idea what they are doing unless Bettcher suddenly decides to tear everything up and just play press man. Jones is going to have to put up 35 points in his first start to get a win...
We know that Drew Brees won’t be starting at quarterback for the Saints in Week Three, but that’s as much information as head coach Sean Payton is willing to share with the Seahawks. Brees is having thumb surgery on Wednesday, which leaves the team with Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill as their active quarterbacks. Bridgewater replaced Brees after last Sunday’s injury and played the rest of the way in a 27-9 loss to the Rams. Hill played his usual jack of all trades role and caught two passes in that game, but the change in circumstances with Brees led to Payton being asked if Hill’s status will change now that he’s the No. 2 quarterback. “You’re assuming he’s the No. 2 . . . We’ll approach this game with two quarterbacks. We’ll have the right plan relative to what those guys are going to be doing.” Payton said, via Rod Walker of NOLA.com. Payton said he probably won’t make an announcement about a starter ahead of Sunday’s game and it sounds like the Seahawks are going to have to be ready to face both quarterbacks in Seattle. (PFT)
After only two full weeks of play, three (3) starting Quarterbacks (Foles, Roethlisberger and Brees) and , at least, one back-up QB (Drew Stanton) have been placed on IR. A 4th starter, Sam Darnold, although not on IR, is expected to miss significant time. This may be the year Colin gets a phone call.
Not if he is still demanding starter’s money. He reportedly wanted $20mil to play in the AAF. I can’t see any team willing to pay that much for a player that would be a huge question mark in more ways than one.
I tend to agree with Tim. It would seem if Kap had a chance he would at least be holding a clip-board somewhere already. His agent says teams have contacted them, but no one is going to pony up that kinda cash for a QB with that much luggage. It is a day and age where winning is everything, but so far, Kap is NFL jobless and probably for good reason.
Oh, make no mistake . . . I too agree with Tim. I only mentioned Kap because someone among us thinks he should be starting somewhere.
Kaepernick is better than any QB under contract for Miami. Kaepernick is better than Luke Falk... for now. Kaepernick is better than Paxton Lynch... for eternity. Kaepernick is better than Lamar Jackson... at the moment. Kaepernick is better than Theodore Bridgewater... career-wise. Kaepernick is better than Ritch Mirerbisky... eye-test. If MR2 goes out to injury, I'd rather see Pittsburgh send out Kap instead of Pax to save the day.
No way any team would sign kap If Jackson was available. I don’t think kap would sign on the practice squad like Lynch.
Exactly... He is comparing QBs, not situations. I don't doubt there are many teams that would probably give Kaepernick a chance under the right conditions. I don't think he is willing to work under MOST of those conditions. He's sent parameters/precedent already. He bailed on a $14.5M guarantee already. That, you would think, would be his floor already. He has sent a clear message to other leagues that he wouldn't play for less than $20 M guaranteed. So if the comparisons are going to continue, that's your starting point... Not Paxton Lynch who was signed to the practice squad and has a $165,000 contract. If you want to have a discussion about comparisons, we are going to be talking about... A) rookie contracts or B) Philip Rivers $20.8M Cam Newton $20.8M Andy Dalton $16M Who are all starters, not backups. Kaepernick has given his parameters. It isn't as easy as just saying he should have a job. I'm sure @firehalo would scrub the inside of cows assholes for $2M per year salary, but no one in their right mind would pay him that to do it. You must first debate his value, if you can't figure that out comparisons to any QBs in the league are useless.
The Steelers have about 1.6M in cap space. Are you willing to restructure a few contracts to do that? How much are you willing to pay him?
Wasn't talking about the money... the talent. TALENT. And if none of you guys think that Kaepernick isn't better than any QB Miami is putting out there this year, you mofos are huffing or something.
I agree that he wouldn't but I'm saying Kap is BETTER THAN Paxton Lynch and would be a more trusted solution... competence and ability-wise. That is MY point.
Went with the layup. Did you miss Theodore Bridgewater on the above list? Want to see some comparable stats? Ask nicely. I'll even throw in a Taysom Hill for ya too.
But the difference between Kap and Bridgewater is the way their careers were trending. Kap started high but progressively got worse. Bridgewater started low but was progressively trending up until his horrific leg injury. Not saying he’d be a top QB without that injury, but he hasn’t gotten a chance until now to play
