A win is a win. So that's good.

Officiating was brutally awful all game long.

Broncos watched the tape from Week 1 and applied a similar approach that the Packers did to the Bears offense. Play contain and keep Trubisky in the pocket. Force him to be a QB. That's an approach I expect all teams to take moving forward until Mitch proves he can beat a defense with his throws.....the problem is he can't do that.

When you're overthrowing wide open receivers....you know you have a problem.

Mitch threw a total of 1 good deep ball in the game. And Cohen dropped it with some help from the defender.

This defense is f'n sick. Mack was held all game, for the second game in a row, and still made a big impact. They would have had more sacks if they weren't so tired at the end.

The loss of Amos and add of Clinton-Dix is so far a non-factor.

Bilal Nichols is hurt and that will hurt but I liked what I saw from Nick Williams.

Outside of Aaron Donald of course......there might not be a better 3-4 defensive lineman in the game right now than Akiem Hicks. Dude does everything.

I have almost no problems with Nagy's playcalling in this game. Less RPO...more runs. Exactly what he needed to do. Some of the toss plays, to Patterson and Gabriel specifically, were genius in motion. Outside of Mitch....execution was good.

Even at the goal line when the run couldn't get the ball in...Nagy stuck with it and finally got there.

The end of the game in a two minute offense might be the only time I trust Mitch just a little. When he turns his brain off he can complete some throws.

Zero confidence in Mitch or this offense going into next Monday night. Zero.

One real concern I have is the inability of our O to run in the A gaps.

James Daniels - so far - is a huge downgrade from Whitehair at the position in the run game.

We're going to lose to a 0-2 team that is giving up +30 points per game.

He is. But he will get better and by the end of the season will be playing at a near pro bowl level.

Physically speaking he's the superior player. He has struggled in adjustments at the line and that's fixable.

And be 1-2 in the division staring up at a 3-0 Packers team.

Actually I think that ball was a little bit underthrown, but still a catchable ball and a good play by the defender to break it up. If it's the play I'm thinking of in the middle of the field where he had to come back for it.
It seems the only time Mitch can find a guy is to get him out of the pocket otherwise he's locked into either the first or second reads.
    Is this Bigrob? ;)
    Let's hope he does.

He had to slow his feet down just slightly but the ball was placed perfectly. He didn't have to come back to the ball...his feet were still moving towards the endzone. Probably a touch too much hangtime on it but otherwise a really good throw.

    #1....bite me.

#2....he will. His technique and physical part of the game is all good. He is struggling with calls, communication, and adjustments. And that will improve.

Have I ever been wrong? That I've admitted to?

I would except I want a meal, not a snack.
Well, there was that one time, oh wait, nope I must be mistaken.
I believe you but damn that glowing praise looked like Bigrob hacked your account, and I was just checking to make sure it was you as your response confirmed it. ;)

The only time I'm wrong is when I post under my other screen names. Mostly Mongo.

Do I need to necro my "we should trade down and draft Mahomes" thread again?

Hey, nothing like a good pat on your own back I've always said.

BWW that was a brilliant observation you had under your Mongo screen name.

I'm a little afraid to see what I said in that thread. I feel like I was on the "Give me Watson or give me death" train.

The only thing that I think is beyond redemption on this team, right now, is Trubisky. I can see how every other position or deficiency can be improved. However, we lost in round one last year because Trubisky and a kicker weren't good enough. It seems like we fixed one of those two things. So while I will watch every game with adoration of that defense, and have a lot of fun watching guys like Montgomery, I have the expectation that this team will fall short of the Super Bowl aspirations we've all been dreaming about.

I didn't think that last year was the year it always felt like that was the year prior to that 85 team and I thought that this would be the year, and while the defense is impressive I think we leapfrogged 2 or more seasons. Considering all the things the Bears have in place currently if there was any year we could all collectively could point out the one major weakness of this team it's at the QB position.
Mongo aka BWW is right where there is one thing we all can agree on.

Im not that far gone, but it IS a bright lights type of game. I think Mitch will be perfectly adequate and we’ll win a fairly close game.

Both such well drawn up plays, but even tho Patterson had the bigger gain it was Gabriel's play I liked even more because of the way Nagy used the success of Patterson's play to setup the next one. The pre snap look of CP in the backfield with trips inc Burton & Gabriel is almost identical in both plays, and it looks for all the world like Nagy's gonna go again with a play they just failed at defending, except with a Frodo level tweak(the trips on the other side 2nd time around). But Nagy uses this to his advantage and when the ball is snapped everyone does something different. The Gabriel play is Nagy at his best.

That would be very nice, here's hoping. But Daniels story with the Bears so far has been one of slow development. First failing to earn a starting job by week 1 last season. Then getting on the field but not in the position he was drafted to play cos they felt he wasn't ready(turns out they were right). Then starting where they drafted him to play but having major early struggles. Even getting near pro bowl level may well take till next year. I'd settle for solid competence at this point.

Daniels is superior to Whitehair in terms of raw power/strength....and thats all he's superior at. Whitehair is twice the athlete and twice the player right now. Daniels' struggles extend well beyond the above the shoulders stuff.

    - The front 7 on D is mastery of the art, but the secondary has been far less impressive and it may be here that the change in coaches is showing up the most. I can only assume its part of Pagano's philosophy for the CB's to play so soft so often. Things were made far too easy for Flacco. A bum like him should not be able to put up nearly 300yards passing on this D(it wasn't just the altitude). A strong passing Offense, of which there are plenty on the schedule, will eat this secondary up.

Does EJax seem less effective? And if so is Fangio & Ed Donatel being gone the reason? I hope not.

    - Where in the hell did O'Donnell pull that 75yard punt from?!

    - I don't hate the kicker yet. As starts go that's good enough.

This is interesting. Who's hurt/not good?

    *Edit.

    Or getting traded?

  20. tunafat Franchise Player Bears

Well, there were rumors last year when he was with the Broncos of a trade involving him with the Bears.
Then he signed with the Ravens this year and failed a conditioning test and missed first practice this preseason and didn't make the team.
