Steelers get Minkah Fitzpatrick from Dolphins The Dolphins are making no secret that they’re tanking, while the Steelers are trying to get better even after losing Ben Roethlisberger. Miami defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick has been traded to Pittsburgh, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The trade includes a first-round draft pick, although it’s unclear whether that’s the entirety of the trade. The Dolphins just drafted Fitzpatrick with the 11th overall pick last year, but since then they’ve gone into major rebuilding mode and are selling off all their assets. The Steelers, on the other hand, are eager to improve their secondary with a talented young player. Given the Steelers’ 0-2 start and the season-ending injury to Roethlisberger, their first-round pick in 2020 could be a high pick. Right now the Dolphins care more about high picks than wins, and they may have added another high pick, while the Steelers added a player who can help them win. (PFT)
Odell Beckham, Nick Chubb carry Browns to 23-3 win over banged up Jets Odell Beckham Jr. caught six passes for 161 yards and a touchdown and Nick Chubb added another score on the ground as the Browns got their first victory of the season with a 23-3 win over the Jets on Monday night. Getting a victory against the Jets could prove to be vital to the Browns chances this season as each of the next five teams they face are currently off to 2-0 starts (L.A. Rams, Baltimore, San Francisco, Seattle, New England).
pissed the Eagles and other teams were in on Fitzpatrick and Pitt gets him. The price seemed high to get him. Eagles need bodies fast. Howie better work his magic. He didn't get Clowney either, so what the hell is he waiting for ?
To be fair, after the Ben injury probably would have been very difficult for most of the teams I saw in the mix to outbid them because Miami likely saw Pittsburgh as having the highest pick. Not sure I agree because I think the Steelers defense is going to end up being one of the better D's in football but only time will tell. I've read much of the criticism for the Steelers making this move in a year Ben is on IR but it probably is what allowed the trade to happen. Plus Fitzpatrick is with the Steelers for at least 4 years so I don't get the focus on 2019.
I've seen the comparison everywhere but their situations are apples and oranges. Jalen is on a one-year 14M option next year and showed up to camp driving a Brinks truck. Pretty obvious where his head is right now. That scenario probably means there would have to be an extension worked out as part of the trade or risk a hold out. He could void a trade he didn't care for by threatening to hold out. He WILL be the highest paid CB when he gets a new deal wherever that ends up and he's been pretty controversial over this first 3 seasons. Minkah has three years at approximately 2M per season and his 5th year option will be under 10M, possibly as low as 7-8M.
I agree the circumstances are very different, luckily for Pittsburgh. Getting Ramsey is definitely more costly.
The Steelers will be starting a new quarterback and may make changes at wide receiver, but at least their running back appears to be fine. Via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, Steelers running back James Conner said he anticipated being ready to play Sunday against the 49ers, even though he didn’t know if he’d practice today. Conner injured his knee late in the loss to the Seahawks, but his casual attitude suggests that he’s going to be fine. With Mason Rudolph getting his first start in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger, they need all the stability they can get on offense.

Paxton Lynch has a job... Kaepernick does not. https://www.wtae.com/article/steelers-sign-quarterback-paxton-lynch/29088697
Taco Charlton is about to get his wish. The Cowboys will move on from the defensive end, who tweeted and then deleted “Free me” earlier this week. Dallas has to make a roster move by 4 p.m. ET to get Robert Quinn activated after he served a two-game suspension. Charlton is not at practice Wednesday. The Cowboys have tried to trade him and have another three hours to attempt to find a trade partner, but they will waive Charlton otherwise, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports. The Cowboys selected Charlton 28th overall in 2017, taking him two picks before the Steelers chose T.J. Watt. Charlton was a healthy scratch the first two games of the season. He had four sacks in 27 career games. Dallas also was missing receiver Michael Gallup (knee), receiver Tavon Austin (concussion), defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford (hip), defensive tackle Antwaun Woods (knee) and safety Xavier Woods (ankle) at Wednesday’s practice.
Didn't flash enough; not versatile enough in Rod Marinelli's scheme. Hate to get nothing from a 1st round pick, but...shite happens. And suddenly Dallas looks a little banged up. Fortunately the 'Boys have a bye this week.
