What are we up to? We traded away our first rd pick next season for him. This guy better be freaking good. We don’t yet have a clue what our pick will be next season. I really believe we should have gotten a better feeling for this seasons team before adding more pieces. I think The coaches and front office are overreacting to Roethlisberger’s injury. I want to get a feel for the offense with Rudolph before going all in like it is now or never. I believe Rudolph is the QB for the team but I’m not sure about this season as it’s his first time starting. We might have reserved that pick in case we need offensive help. I don’t know if our WR core is worth a crap without brown. This guy better help shore up our secondary or we just threw away our first rd pick next season.
They just made Wilson look like a SUPERSTAR...most of the blame falls on the DC who was sending unnecessary blitzes when Tuitt, Watt and the rest were getting plenty of pressure...where is he going to play is the question...safety or corner? Btw, he still has a lot of length on his contract so this is a future move
Love this move. Top Ten talent without the financial burden: 2019 1.1M 2020 1.9M 2021 2.7M 2022 *Option *As the 11th pick Fitzpatrick's option is an average of the Top 10 salaries - not the Too 5 had he been selected in the Top Ten.
I wouldn’t go that far Beach...Wilson is a very solid QB but when I think Superstar I think Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...first-round-pick-pittsburgh-wants-to-contend/ Ian Rapoport ✔@RapSheet Full terms of the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade: — #Dolphins traded CB Minkah Fitzpatrick, a 4th rounder in 2020 and a 7th rounder in 2021 — #Steelers traded a 1st rounder in 2020, a 5th rounder in 2020 and a 6th rounder in 2021 https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/NFL...patrick-to-Pittsburgh-Steelers/9251568687493/ The Dolphins selected Fitzpatrick with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Last season, he recorded 80 total tackles, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown and nine passes defensed in 16 regular-season games (11 starts) As long as Fitzpatrick plays like he did in his rookie season, then this is equivalent to a successful 1st round pick IMHO. FYI: The Steelers fewest wins in a season since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger is 5. 5-9 in 1970. 5-11 in 1988 (the year the Chief passed away).
Really depends on where y'all play him. If it's in the slot, then he can be grea . He hasn't looked all that great outside (especially so far this season) or at safety. Then again the problem could be that he's getting moved around too much to get confortable.
Tomlin & Butler will now have 8 first round starters on defense: Heyward, Dupree, Watt, Bush, Haden, Edmunds, Barron & Fitzpatrick. And a 9th (Burns) coming off the bench. At first glance I like the trade but it’s been proven that this coaching staff is a bunch of misfits so in the end won’t matter
Plus one on the bench in Artie Burns!! I'll bet no other starting defense in the NFL is comprised of 8 first rounders, a 2nd, and two third round picks............and yet.................
Davis SHOULD be benched and Fitzpatrick planted at free safety for the next 4 years or more. My guess is he's used as a chess piece on D for the next month before doing that. Steelers have a journeyman converted SS at inside linebacker (Barron), a rookie (Bush) at other ILB position, a HUGE disappointment in free safety in Sean Davis, and a thus far disappointing 2nd year player at SS (Edmunds). The middle of their entire defense is still an issue right now and is going to have normal growing pains that come with youth. Now the COACHING on that side of the ball..........that's an entirely different problem that I don't know if it gets addressed this year or after unfortunately.
I know you're frustrated B&G but give this defense a little time to gel and I believe you're going to be very happy with them.
Yeah, Davis is headed to IR, and likely out of Pittsburgh after the season. Not thrilled about giving up a 1st round pick, but is there going to be anyone better than Fitzpatrick in the upcoming draft? Honestly can’t say at this point, but they have a potential top tier safety for cheap for the next 3 years
We’ll know by Dec (maybe earlier) how great the trade was or how bad it was. Best case scenario - Micah comes in and plays as good as everyone is saying he’s gonna be. And Mason is a stud at QB and worthy of being a franchise QB Worst case scenario - Micah is a dud and Mason flops. In this case they will still be in need of a S & QB but have no 1st round pick to fill those voids. Then there’s the middle ground - Micah is a stud, Mason flops. You got ur S but no future QB and still no possible top 10 pick next year to get one.
We all would be rich if we could predict the future lol...I think they rolled the dice cause he’s young and cheap..if he doesn’t pan out they don’t give him a big contract and he wanted out of Miami so he may be hungry
I consider Fitz to be our 2020 1st Round Pick and he's every bit worth it. Already proven: 80 tackles/defends passes/INTs - he's good to go. Better than Davis (instant upgrade) and now we can work on getting Toast shipped to some other happy place.
