that's rough. the news in philly showed stores in florida being packed with shoppers buying sandbags, wood planks, generators, toilet paper and water. many gas stations were out of gas as people were trying to flee the state. scary. be safe.

The Stanley Cup has a twitter account out of St. Louis with 110k followers.

This morning it sent out a tweet:

Wake me up when September ends.

That's a huge loss for the Canes, maybe they just weren't willing to re-sign at the same price.

The BOG is 100% into continuing it until 2022.
So from what I'm understanding is that the 2012 CBA came with an opt out option on year 8.

NHL trade rumors: Evgeni Malkin forced Penguins to trade him or Phil Kessel

Evgeni Malkin told the team to trade either him or veteran Phil Kessel.

Even though he was instrumental in helping the Pittsburgh Penguins win consecutive Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, Phil Kessel had long worn out his welcome in the Steel City. According to the latest NHL trade rumors, team ownership, coaches and management were convinced that “Kessel had to go for Evgeni Malkin to stay.”

Rossi also outlined that Malkin “grew tired of feeling caught between the ongoing” feud between Kessel and head coach Mike Sullivan

Citing sources, Rossi also said the 33-year-old Malkin also “requested a trade if” the All-Star sniper returned. Malkin denied the speculation.

if this is true, not sold that it really is, the Pens made the right move. Malkin more valuable than Phil. Malkin one the most underrated of his generation.

Apparently Crosby told management, "It's me and Geno", That sealed Kessels fate.

SIDNEY CROSBY WENT TO PENGUINS MANAGEMENT ABOUT MALKIN RUMORS

Once Sidney Crosby got wind of the rumors, according to Rob Rossi, he went straight to Jim Rutherford and made it loud and clear about his desire to have Geno on his team. Crosby was quoted regarding any trade for Malkin - "It's me AND Geno".

Kinda shows who's running the show in Pittsburgh? Must have a content team with chemistry, but I would have kept Kessel as part of the core along with Malkin and the Kid. Just letting Kessel skate off into the dessert was a huge points man leaving a huge hole to be filled.

If Kessel had enough in Pittsburgh, that's a different story. I might be jealous also, that the Pens are talented enough to give up high profile assets like the Phil.

They had no choice to keep both players. Malkin said it's either me or kessel. Crosby stepped in and basically said that if you trade Geno, then trade me too.
I'm assuming the story is factual coming from Rob Rossi. He's been writing for the pens too long to ruin his credentials over something like this.
