Full confession, I missed (blasphemy) the first half of the Browns live and haven't been able to catch it on NFL Network yet...

However, one major thing to remember here is missing OBJ, Landry and Njoku not only effect the QB, it makes the lives(and jobs) of the opposing defense and it's coordinator a lot easier. When you have to account for those 3 AND Nick Chubb, you don't have enough stars to wreak havoc on the QB. It is reaction to those stars, rather than action off the whistle. Baker is the heart without a doubt, and somehow despite the poor showing, the Browns were in position to kick (3) FGs in the first half. I'm not too worried about a pre-season game in which the coaching staff used it solely for the purpose of evaluating players that will be swing replacements in two weeks. Other than Hollywood and eventually Hunt when he returns, there wasn't another offensive position player that will see significant time without a boatload of injuries.

A good point Irish, that I didn't consider. Points like yours are one of the reasons I have been following this board so long. It's like an extended family or cousins you don't see regularly.

Thanks to you and all the rest of you who make me feel like we're in this together.

The Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills have agreed to the following trade:

    Browns receive:

    G Wyatt Teller

    2021 7th round pick

    Bills receive:

    2020 5th round pick

    2020 6th round pick

Teller is 6-4, 315 and in his second NFL season out of Virginia Tech. Originally drafted by Buffalo in the fifth round of the 2018 draft, Teller started the Bills' final seven regular season games last year. He is a native of Bealeton, Va.

During the pre-game radio show tonight, they said he played LG last year but Dorsey got him as competition for RG since no one has nailed that spot down yet.

Preseason is over. The barge stays in Cleveland. We escape the ordeal healthy. Next up: roster cuts.

Quarterbacks (3): Baker Mayfield*, Drew Stanton, Garrett Gilbert

I wouldn't have expected Gilbert to stay around on the 53-man roster, but between Kitchens' comments about holding three guys and his solid play in the preseason, I don't think they can hope to stash him on the practice squad and likewise, I don't know how confident I am in Drew Stanton as the primary backup.

Runningbacks (3): Nick Chubb*, Dontrell Hilliard, D'Ernest Johnson, Kareem Hunt

Nick Chubb leads the group with Hilliard and Johnson fighting for the remaining touches. Lot of time between now and when Hunt is back to see who stays at the position... I would think Hilliard has the edge right now.

Wide Recievers (5): Odell Beckham Jr.*, Jarvis Landry*, Rashard Higgins*, Braxton Miller, Derrick Willies, Antonio Callaway

Miller should make the team, at least while Callaway is serving suspension. The lineup here really shouldn't surprise. A numbers game might be the only reason we keep five guys overall. After the "big three" (13, 80, and 81) there aren't going to be too many additional targets to go around.

Tight Ends (3): David Njoku*, Demetrius Harris, Seth DeValve

DeValve - as much as I love him - could honestly be a surprise cut. He's spent more time at h-back and that's not a common position these days. I don't see a world where they carry a dedicated fullback, though, so that saves him a spot on the roster. Harris is the primary backup to Njoku who needs to have a break-out season.

Offensive Line (8): Greg Robinson*, Joel Bitonio*, J.C. Tretter*, Wyatt Teller*, Chris Hubbard*, Austin Corbett, Eric Kush, Kendall Lamm

I for real would not be surprised if Corbett was cut. That he still wasn't able to carve a spot for himself at RG so badly that Dorsey recently made the trade for Teller (who likely becomes the immediate starter) says so much about his inability to play the game at this level. He has some value as a swing interior lineman and Lamm offers some value as a swing tackle. I think they have to keep Kush as RG insurance. Either way, I'd look for them to upgrade either with an in-season trade or in the offseason.

Defensive Line (10): Myles Garrett*, Sheldon Richardson*, Larry Ogunjobi*, Olivier Vernon*, Chris Smith, Devaroe Lawrence, Chad Thomas, Anthony Zettle, Carl Davis, Daniel Ekuale

If there's a "surprise" keeper, it's Thomas. Lawrence has been unblockable all preseason and should factor heavily in the regular rotation. I liked what I saw from Carl Davis, too. Maybe bit a bit high for the defensive line, but they've looked the best out of any position group this offseason so I'd hate to lose those players.

    Linebacker (7):
Christian Kirksey*, Joe Schobert*, Adarius Taylor*, Mack Wilson, Sione Takitaki, Genard Avery, Ray-Ray Armstrong

I expect Kirksey to lose playing time to Wilson as the season wears on. With Taylor banged up, I also expect a lot of nickel package. Schobert, I hope, has such a terrific season they're forced to re-sign him because outside of Schobert and Wilson, I don't love the position groupd all that much. Avery is considered a linebacker but will spend more time on the defensive line.

    Defensive Backs (11):
Denzel Ward*, Terrance Mitchell*, Morgan Burnett*, Damarious Randall*, Greedy Williams, T.J. Carrie, Phillip Gaines, Sheldrick Redwine, Jermaine Whitehead, Eric Murray, Juston Burris

Not too many surprises here, I wouldn't think. Burris gets in due to preferred size at the position. Murray and Carrie have nickel corner value while Whitehead and Redwine serve as the primary safety backups with Redwine also spending a lot of time on special teams. Greedy should be the third corner and get a lot of playing time.

    Special Teams (3):
Austin Seibert, Jamie Gillan, Charley Hughtlett

Big surprise here would be keeping the rookie over the veteran at punter. Colquitt is very solid, but he's also a nine year man (34). Gillan produced nearly the same net average in the preseason (41.4 versus 42.8) and you have to love the attitude on his tackles. Hughlett's untouchable. Seibert looks to have won the job, but I'm still rooting for them to sign Carli Lloyd.

    * = Denotes starter

Having the NFL's best roster with a franchise QB locked up and sh*t loads of skill positions under contract for the next half-decade sure does make for boring message boards.

The Fan in Cleveland this afternoon was talking about the punter battle (yes, punter battle) and made the very good point that most (all) NFL team's punt unit is 10 on 11 but with Gillan, it's 11 on 11 as he's actively looking to tackle someone.

You know you've got the NFL's best roster when the competition is at punter, right guard, and backup quarterback.

Signing a guard in the week of the new season, is not a good sign IMO. God Bless Dorsey for not letting it go unaddressed, but.......? I don't like giving up picks to do it either, but Baker cannot become a punching dummy, so there you are.

I really am pullling for the Scottish Hammer, but my head says to go with the proven commodity in punting and in holding for the kicker. It's a part of the game where boring consistency is at a premium, and that has Colquit written all over it.

The Hunt issue is disturbing to me. A guy who's trying to fight back into the league, not allowed to be with the team is a roll of the dice if you ask me. I really worry about his head with an injury to deal with on top of it.

All that said, isn't it nice to not be talking about who's going to lead this team?

I'm thinking that Drew Stanton will be spending this week learning how to hold for field goal/extra point attempts.

WTF??? They released Robison ??? Has Dorsey lost his mind ?? He puts no emphasis on the O Line . He drafted Corbett at 33 and this fucktard is a total BUST. Who is playing L Tackle ??

The Browns signed DT Brandin Bryant, TE Stephen Carlson, WR Shelton Gibson, LB Willie Harvey, S J.T. Hassell, CB Robert Jackson, WR Derrick Willies and C Willie Wright to their practice squad. Additionally, DB Tigie Sankoh will be a member of the team’s international practice squad and won’t count towards the team’s allotted 10 practice squad slots, with two openings remaining. Eight of the nine players were with the Browns this preseason and training camp.

Gibson (5-11, 191) is a third-year wide receiver out of West Virginia. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round (166th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He saw action in 20 regular season games and five postseason games for the Eagles over the last two years, including their Super Bowl LII victory. Mainly contributing on special teams, Gibson hauled in three career receptions for 59 yards. He’s a Cleveland, Ohio, native and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School.

    Nope. They cut him........

Browns released LT Greg Robinson but have plans to re-sign him.
The Browns still view Robinson as the starting left tackle, but a team wouldn't risk a momentary release on a player they were excited to have on the team. With tons of skill-position talent, the Browns just need to get Baker Mayfield upright to have one of the best offenses in the NFL. Starting Robinson at left tackle is a major gamble, but the Browns are at least only committing one year to him if his new contract is similar to the one he signed this offseason.
