but like Tim says only a handful of teams can afford to take him on for a 1 yr rental. Philly is one of those teams.

Do the Texans want to take on Agholor's $9 million salary...?

well they will lose Clowney's salary so if they want a decent WR, they will. to be honest Axe, i don't know what they really want in return. they may not want Aghulor. who knows? considering what they asked Miami for, i think the price is sky high.

Raiders' Rodney Hudson signs 3-year extension

The Oakland Raiders' offseason commitment to the offensive line continues.

This time it includes paying one of their incumbents.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Friday that the Raiders are signing center Rodney Hudson to a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension that will make him the highest-paid center in the NFL, per a source informed of the deal. Hudson gets $24.4 million in guarantees. The team later confirmed the extension.

Pelissero adds that Hudson's existing $8.25 million salary for 2019 now becomes fully guaranteed, and another $16.5 million of his deal becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2020 waiver period.

All this numerical jargon is to say: The Raiders locked down their starting center.

A 2011 second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, Hudson has been the Raiders' starting center the past four seasons after switching sides of the division rivalry.

The 30-year-old center is always on the field, missing just three games since 2012, and has been among the best pivots in the NFL the past several seasons. In fact, he graded out as Pro Football Focus' top pass-blocking center in the entire league last season.

New general manager Mike Mayock has made the offensive line a priority since taking over. He paid huge money to tackle Trent Brown and took a risk bringing in guard Richie Incognito. Now he's paying one of the NFL's top centers in line with his worth.

Report: Seahawks and Texans have agreed to Jadeveon Clowney trade

The Seahawks appear to have their guy.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Seahawks and Texans “have agreed to trade parameters” which will send Jadeveon Clowney to Seattle.

It’s a huge get for the Seahawks, as they land a pass-rusher to partner with Ezekiel Ansah, after dealing Frank Clark to the Chiefs.

But it also comes with a risk, as Clowney’s effectively a one-year rental. They can’t negotiate a long-term deal with him, so he’s months away from free agency again.

There’s no word on what the Texans are getting in return, though Glazer mentions “other players” (which is plural) needing to pass physicals among the “moving parts” which need to be completed.

Wasn't Seattle one of the spots he named as a desired location? If so, seems like everyone might've won here...

Yes it was. Seattle and Philly were his 2 targets.

I think your right on the win-win situation.

Jaguars are signing LB Myles Jack to a four-year, $57 million contract extension that includes $33 million guaraneed and ties him to Jacksonville for the next five years, per source. It makes Jack the NFL's third highest-paid ILB, behind Bobby Wagner and CJ Mosely. - Schefter

    Trade compensation:
3rd round pick, Jacob Martin, Barkevious Mingo.

Well, I guess I was right earlier - the Texans are just gonna get nothing out of a team for a one year rental. Considering how impactful Clowney could be, it's crazy that's the only return. Not even a conditional, "Sign him long term and give us another pick" kind of deal. Wow.

Seahawks stole him, even if it's for a year. I mean, absolute fucking robbery.

There's some risk involved for Seattle considering his injury history and the fact that they are still going to have to get him under contract for the long term, but this deal definitely favors the Hawks.

Also, if the chance at getting signed long term didn't exist in Seattle then Clowney likely doesn't sign the tender to precipitate this deal.

Frank Clark signed a 5 year deal with the Chiefs that gets him around $19mil on average. Seattle probably gets a deal done with Clowney for a similar amount but they push the bonus money that would have went to Clark down the road a season, save almost $8mil in cap this season (in comparison to keeping Mingo and signing Clark to the same deal) and they are only looking at around $3mil in dead money to start 2020. That will put them in the neighborhood of $58mil under the cap, which is more than enough room to get that multi-year deal done with Clowney.

Considering they got a first round pick out of Clark, the moves they have made both in reference to the cap and retooling the roster have to be looked at as big wins all around.

Some potentially big news for the #Chargers: They have given the reps for Melvin Gordon permission to seek a trade, sources say. He’ll explore his options, which include returning. But big few days.

Jets cut 68th overall pick Jachai Polite...

In a sign of just how much Jets coach Adam Gase and now-fired General Manager Mike Maccagnan disagreed in this year’s draft, the Jets have just cut a player they took with the 68th overall pick.

Jachai Polite, a linebacker from Florida whom the Jets used a high third-round pick on in April, has been released, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Maccagnan was fired less than a month later amid reports that he and Gase had strongly disagreed about the draft. Joe Douglas was hired to replace Maccagnan and it’s safe to say Douglas and Gase both think Maccagnan erred in using such a high pick on Polite.

As a first-team All-SEC linebacker last year, Polite was viewed as a potential first-round draft pick. But he turned in an ugly performance at the Scouting Combine (not unlike his former Florida teammate Teez Tabor), and that sent him plummeting down draft boards. The Jets were the team that ended his fall on the second day of the draft, but he didn’t last long there. Now he’ll go on waivers and perhaps some team will be willing to give him a longer look than the Jets did.
